    Nice fish, and photo.
  3. Ribeyes and craft beer! LOL...good one!
  4. Its the Current River...its outstanding scenery. Fishing is good to great in most stretches...except Akers to Round..Might want to set up a base camp in the Park Service campgrounds...There are CG's at Round, Two Rivers, Jerktail, Powdermill,. There is usually a host at the bigger CG's...some maintenance workers, and LEO's patrol too.
  5. Glowing rocks at Zoe....Think its shroom related but not foxfire. There are some bioluminescent sow bugs on the upper Current...usually see them at waters edge. There about half the size of a pencil eraser.
  6. I always thought that "Hoosier" was a term of endearment.

    That's a beast...good for you.
  8. Nice catch Lancer. I haven't strung up a fly rod for bass yet this year. Plan to fix that next week.
  9. Thinking below Two Rivers if you want to run a prop. Powdermill might work...Run up to Owls Bend and Pitch a tent.
  10. Think that they behave differently depending on water clarity. In murky water...they feed during the day for the most part. In clear water they can feed anytime, sometimes at night if its a heavily pressured stretch of water.
  11. He hasn't paddled that boat at all...bought new, 6 trips in 11 years...That's darn near brand new..I'd start at 70% of retail.
  12. Check the map link on the Current River Forum...its on there.
  13. What did you expect? Jail time for dead fish....does not happen...fines, suspension of privilege maybe. Will cost him some $$$ in the short run, and he is on a list..It is the best you could hope for... $1,300 for both of your used Coosa's.....pick up at your place with cash in hand after lunch tomorrow :>)!
  14. I like to be able to stand...but its not a priority....why stand when you can sit. I've paddled Coldwater's Dagger solo before...really nice boat...I've also rode in the front with a ton of gear in the boat...little wobbly but not bad. Still like a 17' boat for tandem canoeing. The 16' buffalo boats aren't bad....Disco 158 isn't bad...Tried a Wenonah Southfork or Northfork down at Sunburst a month ago...#3...in Justin's selection...It handled really well with my wife and two small kids in the boat. Lower sides than my Wenonah Spirit II.
  15. He will change his mind in a couple days...better grab what you can now.
  16. It looks like one of MDC's smally tags...gray/blue on the dorsal. That jackwagon is standing well behind the fish (5 or 6 feet) so the perspective makes the fish look much bigger than it is. Its length isn't important though. This guy is poaching fish with a pole spear and he needs to be stopped.
  17. That just sucks...the Castor isn't known for great habitat, sorry to hear that more of what was there....is lost...
  18. Would love one as well. Would like to see a pic of your fish, and the replica if possible.
  19. The Disco 169 is a fine boat for hauling too much gear...and two people...Had a beautiful Mad River Explorer 17 in the quiver for a couple months last year...late 1980's boat, royalex, cherry bottom, and the wood gunnels were solid...Great handling boat but that shallow V bottom did not sit well with my wife...She will stand and fly cast out of the front of my Wenonah Spririt II or a Disco...or most flat bottomed 16-17 boats...She didn't like casting out of the front with that V bottom, and no flat spot for her cocktail. Sold it.
  20. The Disco 169....paddles better than the 158...drafts a bit less than my Wenonah Spirit II....wider ends....a 17' boat is no big deal to solo...with some practice. Bigger is better in a tandem canoe IMO....
  21. Any time you can spend with your son.Great memories!
  22. You would know...thanks for the feedback.
  23. Love that Bluegrass but I want to hear it live......near you Mic...go see George Portz if you want the real deal.....pickings are slim in STL...Liquid Gold...plays some bluegrass type stuff....but mostly fun old country stuff...definite must see... at the Shanti in Soulard or Joe Clarks in Fenton...Some real pro's in that band....Wish the Flying Mules were still together. George Portz is making his annual appearance at Suson Park in S. St. Louis County on the 13th...My wife and I will be there this year. We don't always make it, but the George Portz show at Suson was our first date. Always a great show.
  24. I could never do that without an epipen handy.......an EMT buddy of mine gave me a tip though...a poltice of ciggy tobacco and water over the sting takes the swelling down quick....1-2 hours...by his account. Have not tried it yet.
