  1. At least you didnt cut yourself with the razor blade! Nice video...I really liked the underwater shots.
  2. Early May is a great time to fish the Current...Expect some caddis on the water at dusk. Its usually a mating/egg laying flight...so bring some spent patterns in addition to floaters, pupa & emergers. You might see a few light cahills at dusk if your really lucky...I've hit it twice in the past dozen years but both were memorable evenings. As for meat flies...you cant toss one that is too big on a fly rod. Have fun.
  3. Start here.... http://friendsoftherivers.org/ http://www.norforkhatcheryfriends.org/index.html
  4. Very nice! Darnit...now I gotta tie some flies!
  5. I'd take a look at a Rainshadow blank from Batson. I've heard good things about their fly blanks and I'm pleased with the casting rod I made from one of their blanks. Their prices are very reasonable.
  6. My main gripe was a guy selling real estate with his first two posts.I bet we never hear from this guy again. As for development, Its not a good thing IMO. It seems I see a new cabin or two under construction every year. One cabin wont effect much, but over time it all adds up. More land cleared for cabins & cows, more septic runoff, more people in Mountain Grove using a bad sewer system. Decline is a cumulative process.
  7. Good Job!
  8. 2 posts & both to sell real estate.....and real estate that isnt in the best interest of that river....where is the septic gonna drain?......Through the bluff or to the river?
  9. Dont need anything....some replacements...maybe some swim jigs & swim baits...
  10. Usurp their authority? Hah! The Jack Wagon Farm Bureau types that propose this stuff know it's not going to fly...They just want to jerk MDC's chain and tick off a few granola's...It works every time.
  11. Someone needs to go fishing;>)!
  12. Senator Bubba can propose anything he wants....but the Missouri legislature doesnt have the authority to enact game laws. Only the conservation commission can do that. Wonder if Senator Bubba is the same one that proposed legislation to legalize catfish noodling?
  13. Thread choice and thread twist can make a big difference. If your usuing a flat floss like thread (Wapsi 210 denier ?) you are going to have to manage thread twist. It will twist in the direction that you wrap, so sometimes you have to untwist it if you want your head wraps to lay flat, or twist it more if you want to add bulk. It doesnt seem to matter that much with round threads (Unithread). Have fun.
  14. Nice report.....The lack of snow doesnt bode well for fishing this Summer.
  15. Joe, I assume your comments were in regard to the park lodge...I agree that they have a poor selection, and the food was awful on our last visit...Reed's tackle selection is top notch. Take a peak on your next visit.
  16. Good for you! Looks like a fine time.
  17. Reeds has a great selection of tackle...Shop there instead of the Park store.
  18. Some great choices....if I had to pick only 5.....Sammy 100, Buzzbait, Zoom Fluke, Jig & Chunk, and a Tube
  19. Sure...It wont be a light cahill, but the fish might not notice.
  20. The USGS has what they call Water Alert...go to the guage site, subscribe to a guage, and it will send updates to your mobile device....but its easy enough to look on the guage site, just tab it in your favorites. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/current/?type=flow
  21. Dont fight him...outlast him.
  22. I have a feeling that the rental boat operation will wear this Prater fellow down eventually. That or he will sell, or do something that you can actually charge him with.
  23. Cant go wrong with a Yakima or Thule...dont know about the Inno...but I'm sure it will work too.
  24. Now that I think about it...Who's to blame the lawyer for wanting to get paid up front? Thats how criminal defence lawyers insure that they get paid. Heck, I ask for a retainer up front whenever I do litigation support. And I'd bet that amount is negotiable... Also, what section of Shoal creek...I have one of the old Oz Hawksley float books from 1976 and Shoal Creek is in there...Seems like it would be easy to document a long history of public recreational use.
