  1. Thermarest camp pads are the best. Feathered Friends makes the best sleeping bags. Tent depends on how many per tent. Might want a thermacell to keep away the mosquitos, plus deet. Take bear precautions if in the bush in bear country.
  2. Yep you nailed it GB. Have not reserved, but fees are reasonable. Guess Pete could day trip, but long haul.

    What's Cooking?

Looks good...Sorry about your Border...We love our Aussie...They are great dogs if you can keep them occupied.
  4. Heck I got the BBQ....Did about 40 lbs last weekend, ate some, but vac packed most of it. Ribs, Brisket, Pork Shoulder, Pork Tenders...Heat & eat, super easy. Think my wife hid 6-8 of the smoked pork tenderloins for the upcoming GS troop camp trip...She was rather vague about there location, and that is fine with me.. I can fill the pit one more time before the end of the month. I'm sure that Chief's stuff is good Q too!
  5. GB you are welcome too. Toss your hat in the ring. Pretty easy. There is/was? a Chester’s fried at the exit so no cooking required.😀
  6. Have an inquiry out to Good CG on the Gasconade. Think Pete is in. Thinking 6-8 people max, could base camp our float camp with a group that size. If bigger could base camp, split up and float allot nearby.
  7. Ok thinking 6/27-6/30 timeframe Mid-MO Streams.
  8. Seth needs to go bass bug fly fishing and I need some new fishing companions. Have a golf club bag full of fly rods, tons of flies, plus gear. Have not fished with Seth, Pete, Glen, Ronnie or the Chief. Could be a hoot or a fist fight. OK with either😀! Let’s do it.
  9. I have/need a bigger one.....That’s a good deal though.
  10. If it fails tear it down. We need to move out of the flood plains now. It’s cheaper in the long run.
  11. You need someone to handle the boat if you want to float a river, and fly fish for anything at the same time...No park & wade or walk and wade. It can be highly effective..It is a team effort though...Set your boat mate up a comfy cast away..and beat the crap out of it for a half hour until you switch. You will catch more than if you fish solo....But most want to fish solo.
  12. Awesome Joe! Glad you had a bunch of fun!
  13. Fly fishing works when it works....If I pitch a buzzbait or a walker out and it gets smacked before it moves 6"....Put the bait caster down and grab the fly rod with the big popper, cuz probably game on.
  14. Fly gear is a handicap. Big stuff on top will work. But you need someone you trust to trade duty with the boat handling while the other fishes. Gear is more efficient if solo. More fun to toss big bass bugs with a fly rod though. If you can’t cast 75’ with a 7wt you will be wasting your time.
  15. Congrats! Those are some great river bass!
  16. Tough creek, and mostly nursery water. Will produce a 17-18” on occasion, but those are outliers.
  17. That’s awesome! Have gotten better at sticking big smallmouth over the years but don’t land a legit 20” every year. Think I stick at least two dozen 18-19” fish for every 20”+. A big WTD or a 1/0 popper is your friend. Top or bottom for better bass. Did land a 20 5” this year. Full sized Mann’s 1-. Great plug!
  18. Good week, but don’t have the coin to take the fam yet. Somebody grab this.

    What's Cooking?

Never had time to fire the pit last weekend. In process now. Pork Tenders and Whole Beef Round smoked to rare, Out and in the chill chest. Round 2- 8 racks of ribs in, plus the long cook meats. brisket and pork butt that’s been in since 8am.
  21. 6’ 9” Northfork Composites mL blank will get it done. Great for jigs or jerkbaits. Not cheap and you gotta assemble it.
  22. Awesome! Great memories made!
  23. Paddling down the river alone on a warm spring day
  24. I don’t like to fish Bennett but a $10 fee to fish would be good value for what is offered. Private trout parks are $60+ a day per person for C&R. Pay by the pound keep all can be more ore less expensive.
  25. Will Roy Poppen USMC died at the battle of Iwo Jima. I have one of his eagle globe and anchor pins. I keep it with my service ribbons and other nonsense. Most of the men in my family are veterans. Everyone other than Will Roy made it home. Have 2 in the service now. Both aircrew, rescue divers.. Ben is on shore duty training some new guys in Norfolk VA. Got his blue nose on last deployment. Jordan (who married Ben’s sister) is aboard the Lincoln in the Persian Gulf right now.
