  1. Slanding is fine for me, but Up and down takes some practice. Again, learning curve. I stand and fly cast and walk all over my 17' tandem canoe. Not used to an 11' boat.

  3. What a nice gift from your wife! So this boat is still for sale. The tarpon does track better, but I really enjoy floating a Coosa. Still in the learning curve cuz I'm used to soloing canoes. Tended to over correct of the get go. The thing spins on a dime. Can't wait to run some shut ins with it.
  4. Glad you got this one! My wife really likes the one I got from Bigs. I've only done 15-20 miles in it so far. Does not track as well as my 14'8" solo canoe, but it's a comfy stable ride. Nice ride to fish from.

    What's Cooking?

Kale has a weird texture. Would rather eat collards or spinach, maybe even poke greens over kale.

Looks good! Two pork butts on the smoker now. Brisket and 5 racks of ribs hit the smoke in the AM. Smoker is rolling well. Gonna take a nap and check on 4 hours.
  7. Fishing sucks at all the County lakes. Bait fishing in flooded fields is probabably your best near town game right now. Circle hooks.
  8. Will leave a good stretch of river for another when the fishing sucks. If moving is not an option I'll pound some fish out of whatever presents itself.
  9. Cane to Greer is a fun float. Did pretty well on flukes and Hula grubs last time down in mid-summer. Cottonmouths seem to be abundant there. Saw 5-6 and almost stepped on one. Look were you put your feet! Plenty of banded water snakes too.
  10. Don't go to bad fishing spots! Will give any spot a go our three but if it sucks I'm not coming back.
  11. Rain in the forecast...and the ground is soaked. Every shower is gonna give it a little bump. I'd take the chance and fish if it stays under 3.5' at Akers.
  12. 2.5 at Akers. Water should be a little cloudy...but I love it at 2.5..Great level to float and toss big stuff.
  13. Headed back down already. Less than 3 at Akers. Should be good to go tomorrow barring more rain.
  14. Looked liked they were pretty busy this weekend. East side of K bridge by the campground entrance.
  15. Not nearly as bad as the Current in terms of river traffic but you will see some jet boats.
  16. Wear waders down there. Not many ways to the water and tons of Poison Ivy.
  17. The St Francis looked good to but no reliable shuttle service. The folks a Sam Baker run the little 3 mile from the Park to 34 for the most part. It's not worth fishing IMO. Coldwater to Sam Baker is a tad better but not great. Big Creek can be fun if the water is up enough. Mostly play boating cuz you have 5 boulder gardens to run.
  18. Was on the Black this weekend, just got back. Floated from Parks bluff on the West fork down to K Bridge. Lots of traffic on the water, even today. Jeff's canoe @ K bridge does an 11 mile from Yellow Smile just below the Lesterville Access down to K. 'Twas the better water but bring lots of jigs. Water is very clear and fish were in the wood. A few on top. Cherokee Landing is weekends for the most part but call and ask for Steve. The big had a nice look to it when we drove over it in Bonne Terre today.
  19. Just love it when a big smallmouth bites my thumb when I release it.
  20. That's nice rainbow! Good for you. Favorite float for a winter fish fry.
  21. Sample size is key. They did not tag many and some folks caught lots of tags. They should adjust for that, not sure if they did our if the sample was big enough to draw any conclusion. Most of the samples where on below average bass fisheries. Did not catch any tags because I go other places.
  22. Thanks guys! Deep wood in swift current was the pattern on Black yesterday with a few on top. Not bad considering the nunber of folks on the water. Best went 17 on a Mitch Craw.Floating again today and tomorrow.
  23. Sounds like fun! Never have liked rubber skirts on a crank, Tangle city our never on the right bait.
  24. Arkansas law is clearer than most. Go float and have fun!
