  1. You can wade a short stretch above the boat ramp but wading is very limited. One of my least favorite state parks. The campsites are to close together but they do have quite a few with water & sewer hookups.
  2. Check out Bite Me Jigs....They have a really good stand up...and I like the hunter ball head...1/8oz and over. I don't like how the plastic on the weedguard melts when I powder coat but the jigs perform very well...Black nickle gammies...good guard...Like.
  3. Much ado about nothing IMO. The Feds aren't going to give it back.
  4. I'll toss them all year round. Depth and cadence are usually more important than color but I tend to stick to some proven minnow colors or clown in clear water, chartreuse shad and flashier baits in stained. Give a shallow running suspender a go if you are having trouble hooking up on a fluke.
  5. It's similar to an aspirin head. And a tad lopsided. Pretty easy to mod a ball head to do same with a pair of smooth jaw pliers or a hammer.
  6. Post em up...Wish I had a report to share but work, work, work...Saw some resident geese crapping in the Tilles Park pond on the way to work this AM.Ice is all but gone. Looked like a fellow caught a trout while I waited in traffic on my way to Clayton. Private pond fishing should get good soon.
  7. Looks like a great time! Thanks for the vid.
  8. Glad you got out..Picked a great day for it.
  9. FW, I clipped fins with the biologists till my hands were sore on a shock boat trip years ago. We never clipped the front pelvic fins just the fins on the back half of the fish. They alternate between left & right rear pelvic and adipose with each year class of stockers. It gives them a way to estimate growth rates when the shock & sample in the Fall.
  10. Sorry for your loss Al. It is a tough time when you lose your father. My best to you and the rest of the family.
  11. Glad you had a good time. Hope there is a special place in hell for those poachers.
  12. Tan Vat to Cedar is a good day float, but it's a brown trout fishery. Early and late is the name of that game. Best done overnight. Head below Round Spring if you want to fish for bass.
  13. The biologist don't clip the front pelvic fin, but they do clip the adipose, rear pelvic, and tail fin. The do grow back.
  14. 6' Medium Light, and a 6' Medium...both very fast action, but I'm fishing jerkbaits & bass sized hair jigs on them, not drifting cheese or little stuff.

Very nice both of you! Best in Missouri last year was with Mitch...19.75". I've never caught a 20" smallmouth in Missouri...but I have caught one that measure 21"....Maybe I'll get that 20" next year.
  16. Made a batch with some leftover Greek Yogurt yesterday . It turned out great. thanks for the tip .
  17. Good for you. Looks like a great time.
  18. You could probably do it yourself for around $200-250 including gas if you share a vehicle and have all the gear you need. It was only $208 dollars per man on our trip to the St. Croix this year. 1 truck, 2 canoes, 4 guys..Paid for the shuttle, food, and a hotel room in Grantsburg, WI one night...maybe another $50 for meals on the road, plus cocktails.
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/170907563576?lpid=82 These work great for securing rods. They work well for transporting a bundle of rods too.
  20. No kidding Joe...bunch of wimpy folks out there...was telling one of my new co-workers about floating and camping in the winter and they looked at me like I had 3 eyes on my face.
  21. They are absolute pigs to car top..but probably not bad with a bit of practice..Lots of weight in the bow. I'm out. Will wait for a better deal.
  22. Think Trophy wants it more than I do.
  23. LOL! Good questions. Sounds like you've spent more time outfitting & polishing that boat than you have fishing it. Wouldn't mind having one out back with the rest. $925 is a bit steep for a used boat though..Looks like Soulard or St. Louis Hills...in my hood but gotta check my cash on hand.
  24. I've never messed with the NuCanoe...its easy enough for me to stand & fly cast out of my 17' tandem canoe. The Coosa is pretty nice...but its a heavy beast, weighs more than my 17' tandem canoe...but most sit on top kayaks weigh 65-75lbs...I'm not much for standing out of my 14' 8" solo canoe..but I sit high enough to fish a jig.
