Justin has a point...I'll keep a fish or several if I need something to eat......No guarantee of a legal fish though...Might have to break out the cast net and fry minnows on a river with restrictive limits.
My all arounder is a 6' Medium Light with a Pflueger Supreme..The Pflueger President is a good reel too...Just wrapped a Batson ISB722 blank and I really like it.
It really depends on your objectives, and the stream gradient...5-7 miles is a great length for a day float. You have plenty of time to get out, wade, and putz around. You wont have time to get out and wade much on a 10-12 mile float especially on a slow moving stream.
It was rolling pretty good but it looked floatable at Short Bend but really ugly at the 19 bridge South of Steelville on our drive home from Montauk yesterday.
Waters fine. Up a couple inches. Caught a nice one last night 24 or so. Nothing but rainbows and a tiddler brown for my brother inlaw and me this am. Kiddo fishing for the rest of the weekend.
