  1. Will have to talk to my friend Jim....He has all the contact info from our the last trip. We had some great guides in the Cooper Landing area, and their is a good fly out service that took us out for some day trips across Cook inlet.
  2. Sorry I missed it...Sweet price for an F2...Have an F1 Traun that I might want to part with...no box or papers...but original leather bag, not a ding on it, and a 3wt DT line in great condition.
  3. We got our butts kicked thats for sure...Still a good time...Great bunch of folks in camp this weekend. The fish just werent on....One of the guys was down for 10 days...He did really well earlier in the week but he struggled like everyone else this weekend...Timing is everything. Gotta keep on keeping on and wait for your turn.
  4. Depends on we're you are staying have a couple suggestion for the Cooper landing and Soldatna area
  5. Went down to 6x Saturday w little to show for it. The fish just weren't active.
  6. So let me get this straight....You are fishing with an inline spinner and catching nothing when somebody walks up and catches two in quick succession on a jerkbait. Think I'd be asking about jerkbaits, not in-lines and jigs.
  7. Wow..Thats a banner day for the NFoW!
  8. http://www.mdwfp.com/north-ms-fish-hatcheries/fish-hatchery/magnolia-crappie.aspx Weird looking fish to boot!
  9. Why not manage for a sustainable bluegill or bass fishery?
  10. Great info Andy...I'm sure it varies by watershed. Its been awhile since I've floated the Huzzah in the winter but you can see bottom in 10' of water easilly...and you rarely see any fish. That creek flows pretty fast, lacks deep boulder habitat, and it doesnt have any major springs on it. So that might have something to do with it. There is lots of slow flow, spring seeps, and deep big boulder habitat on the Meramec though. Think the situation might be different on Shoal...I've never visitied...but I've thought about it and done some research...There are tons of springs on the Shoal Creek drainage, plus its impouded for Joplin's water supply. Fish might not have to move very far to find a spot to winter over. Wonder if they stack up in the water supply lake? Or at the spillway?
  11. Think your on to something FW...the smarmy soccer mom in the for ad just rubbed me wrong. Kinda sick of the hollier than thow types wanting to tell everyone else what to think, or say, or do.
  12. West-Pac...guessing your both Navy ....USMC myself...did a West-Pac in 89...CV-61.
  13. Think Mitch was having some fun with telling folks that smallies dont bite in winter....If I wanted to catch smallmouth in the winter...Mitch's name would be on a short list. ... Migration....it happens...MDC is compiling some data on it right now..Will be a report in the next year or so.
  14. Gavin

    Score!

    Very nice deer!
  15. Think we oughta thank all the folks that choose to live like a rockstar and die early...We wont be on the hook for their Social Security & Medicare;>)! Funsucking deadlife's seem to live forever:>)!
  16. When it comes right down to it....I wish no new taxes on anyone and I'm glad this tax grab ballot initiative failed. Kinda of a stupid ballot initiative to begin with. State Tax rates should be set by the legislators, not by a vote of the citizens.
  17. Whats next? A sin tax on Diet Coke? I've never seen a skinny person drinking one.
  18. The argument that our tax is too low, because its higher elsewhere. Is just plain silly, IMO...Other less enlightened states should be lowering their tax rates to match ours, put more money in their citizens pockets and stimulate the economy.
  19. A blaze orange float can be good........but dont camp on first island below Greer...some folks like to shoot from the bank to that Island. Acess points will be full of hunters but little in between.
  20. Saw a young boy run off a family of asians this AM at Tilles...800 stocked....guess the kid saw em toss one in their 5 gal. bucket and he gave em what for. Papasan, mamasan, and grandma too..Made em let it go and told em to get....they really wanted some fish...so they went to the lot and chatted up Rose about what the boy had said....she gave em what for too....best thing I saw today..
  21. Why pay?.takes less than a minute to tie a Kruger style jig. $0.25 for an arkie head at wal-mart. couple pennies worth of GSP or Kevlar...couple pennies worth of deer hair. Less than a buck to construct.
  22. Yep...that was us.
  23. Guess he shouldnt count....What's the tally over 24" for the siggy snow fly;>). It is a good one.
