  1. The trucks & black helicopters were full of otters, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes...not trout.
  2. This will work for squirrels...It's not as much fun as shooting them with a pellet rifle though. http://www.m4040.com/Survival/Skills/Hunting%20and%20Snaring/Snares/Squirrel%20Snare.htm
  3. Its just a political manuever to give them an excuse to propose a tax increase instead of taking necessary belt tightening measures....Scale back the county governments employee benefits package to private sector levels, and you will probably have a surplus.
  4. Big Smith, NGDB, and the Daredevil's...bet that was one heck of a show!
  5. Yes they are Chris!...my Wenonah Spirit II is on its 3rd set of skid plates...and my Mad River is in need of some...You headed down this Weekend? I'm planning to float with Chris & Paul on Friday.
  6. No one fly is gonna do it all..I usually go with a Caddis, Madame X, or Crackleback as good general purpose searching dries..if I see mayflies, I might try a parachute or a comparadun style tie...small flies are generally for small fish...but not always...I carry some but rarely break them out. Good Luck.
  7. I've got no confidence in the McStick...might be good for lake bass, but its been worthless for me on the river...use what you have confidence in.
  8. Looks can be deceiving...how it works in the water is all that matters....For $7.99 a pop..I'd bite....hooks & finish look better than a standard rapala.
  9. Nice pellet pig Geoff..I'd be more impressed with a picture of an 8" wild brook trout.
  10. Tie up a few of these...and you wont have to worry about it. http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/fly/printfly/crowebeetle.pdf
  11. Missed this for some reason..It sounds like the fish counts are still pretty decent...Cant wait to get down there later this month.
  12. Nice report...Looks like Mill Creek...
  13. I think its in the 573 area code...but Mr. William's has been in ill health..not sure if they will be open or not...This is a good time of the year to camp at Montauk...No reservations needed and you can take your pick of the best spots most of the time.
  14. I'd leave them home and rent....Most of our smallmouth streams have some long sections of unproductive frog water, and its hard to make time in a toon.
  15. Call Sam Potter, Brian Wise, Kyle Kosovich, or Brian Sloss if you want to fly fish for them.
  16. Good Job Pappa!..I have a feeling that you will be processing another deer or two for him soon!
  17. Ford Focus....forgetabout the jon....canoe or kayak...and car top it...cost is about the same..might be able to car top a 10' jon with a good rack...but it wont be pretty on you paint. Good luck.
  18. Bring Some Blaze Orange Definetly...every roadside pullout will have a deer camp in it...plenty of them at Greer too...Last time...was about 6 years ago with the Coldwater crew..Some jackwagon had a loud generator on all night......Glad we got out of Greer for a lazy couple days of camping on the the river....Float & Camp...you will be safer...but dont camp near first island (graveyard hollow)...some folks use it as a target range. Have fun.
  19. Very Nice!
  20. Maybe 2.5 hours one way for a day trip...Anything longer than that and I'll stay for a couple of days...if its more than 8 hours of driving one way...It needs at least a week. Longer than that..forgetabout driving.
  21. Were are you located and were do you want to fish?
  22. Its not that hard to find...and if you are staying there...the LP and Spring Creek are only a short drive away. I've seen allot of horse people camped around Wilkins Spring Before..I'd look around there and hike away from your car a bit. Here's a map of the area. Have fun! http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2010/05/5632_3540.pdf
  23. You could camp over on the USFS land near Mill Creek...look for the Kaintuck Hollow Brocure...or grab a cheap hotel room in Rolla.. My link
  24. I agree with Eric...These "habitat improvements" arent going to last long, but at least a few old men will have a place to sit down while they lob a scud for a year or two.
  25. Glad you had a good trip! Think I'll leave my boat at home and grind the bottom off one of yours if we dont get rain in the next week or so. How's the moss situation?
