  1. I cant argue with buying what you need or want....I've owned American vehicles, and I'm currently driving one...Most of them havent held a candle to the Honda and Toyota vehicles that I've owned over the years. My Honda's and Toyota's were virtually zero maintence vehicles..gas, oil, tires, fluids, filters, and brakes, and that was it. I cant say that about any of the American made vehicles that I've owned over the years. My American made vehicles were cheaper up front, but they have been more expensive over the long haul. There is a reason those company's are in trouble. The build & design qualities werent as good so they sold at a lower price. Plus the American companies had a higher cost structure. The low price, make it up on volume strategy just doesnt work when your market share is falling and you have no control over your labor costs. Cheers.
  2. There are lots of trees, cane jungles, ticks & chiggers...but at least the PI wont be too thick by the end of April. Bring bug dope, have fun. Cheers.
  3. Ted, I've never fished it but a good bit of that creek flows through Clydesdale Park (Tesson Ferry & Greenpark). I think the signs are from MSD, there way of alerting the public to all the problems on that creek. I dont think anyone would care if you fished it, but I wouldnt want to swim, or change flies w/o my nippers.....Good Luck.
  4. A duo-lock snap is pretty good for crankbait fishing when your changing out lures frequently, but the lure has to have a ring to snap it to. Its not good for most spinners and buzzbaits, or soft plastics on the bottom. FWIW, I can probably tie a not faster. Cheers.
  5. I smell hoax too. At best the driver was a moron who couldnt think through a simple solution to their problem. Worst case, someone trying to draw attention to themselves.
  6. Laker's tip about visualization is key. You should always try to see or visualize what your fly is doing under the water. Polarized glasses are a must. Fish can hit and spit w/o affecting the indicator or you feeling the hit, and that probably happens more often than not. Fish the water close to you first, add a couple feet of line to the cast and try again, adjust weight, and/or change indi depth if needed. If you arent adding and removing shot and/or adjusting your your indi often, you arent fishing effectively. Cheers.
  7. Nymphing w/o an indicator is all about maintaining contact with your fly or flies using visual cues or by feeling them tick across the bottom. Visual cues can be anything, a twitch in you leader, a pause in a drift, seeing a fish move or open its mouth near where you think your fly is, etc....Might want to try it with two flies at first...one you can see underwater like a glo ball and something else a foot or so behind that till you get a feel for it..Adjust your weight for every run. If your looking for a book...Joe Humphries Trout Tactics is worth a read. It discusses nymphing w/o an indi at length....plus lots of other helpful info. Cheers.
  8. Buck to Bay is a good float...18 miles if I recall it correctly. You could do it in two if your not stopping to wade fish alot, but it usually takes me 3 days because I dont like to go more than 5-7 miles in a day. The upper half from Buck to Rymers has some sporty little runs and lots of submerged rocks to watch out for, but it gets wider and slower below there. The scenery is drop dead gorgeous when the woods start to come alive in the spring so I'm sure that you will have a memorable trip.
  9. And 3 is half of 6...I think your math is good enuff.
  10. Andy, bought the only common theme that I see in your posts is your own vanity. I'll ask you again..What have you done for the resource? Have you invested any skin in the game? My father always told me that perfection is the enemy of the good, and he was right. If your waiting for someone else to provide you with perfect solutions, your never going to be happy. Ask yourself if the recommendations put forth by MSA are better than what we have now. If the answer is "Yes"...I'd suggest you lead, follow, or get out of the way. Cheers.
  11. Lets go fish some Neosho's Coldwater.......I'll bring the skillet.
  12. Andy,I dont have to be an expert on your part of the country and I never claimed to be. What have you done to improve the resource? Any skin in the game? Or is it all talk and no action?
  13. Chief, its easy to stand on the sidelines and snipe at what others are doing without investing anything personally. Its clear that you have some definite ideas about whats going on in your part of the state. What have you done to improve the resource?
  14. I'm not worried either...just giving some of you fellows some trouble for crowding up a small stream, and crowing a bit to loudly about it on the net. From all the reports, I'd say there was at least 8-10 folks out last weekend...And thats alot, IMO. Go there enjoy the place, but why not keep it on the down low? Its not a tailwater fish ditch or trout park designed for the masses. Cheers.
  15. Guess those signs have legs...No worries, thats area is a local party spot....Somebody will be using that sign to fan their fire once it warms up a bit.
  16. Wow! you snagged a 5" rainbow in the eye ball.......guess it proves that you werent at the bar all day, but....do you really need a picture of any of those fish, or even a report? Crane seems to be the new Bennett...Thats for sure.
  17. Sounds like Crane Creek is turning into Bennett Springs.
  18. Will have to try that...Thanks.
  19. Nothing wrong with that....I'd rather see a friend catch a fish and smile myself.
  20. Pay to play, sometimes you've got to do that Bill. Looks like the entry fee is $4,000 and they pay $10,000 down to 50th place....If I had your knowledge, I'd like those odds. Cheers.
  21. Running deer for whatever reason....Think I'd value the life of anybodies pet over a lousy deer.
  22. Have a back up plan if the water is on...Roaring River is about an hour away.
  23. The sit on tops are much better for in and out...Nothing to knock your knees on, just stand up..Add a Milk Crate for tackle storage and some rod holders and your set to cruise on open water. Cheers.
  24. I'm thinking that you would need to wire it through your trailer...Not sure what kind of connection you have on your trailer, but the battery on my camper charges through the AUX 12v wire on my 7pin connection. Took me most of the weekend and 2 trips to the auto parts store to wire that and install the brake controller. Cheers.
  25. A sorry situaton all around. There was no good in it. But just for the sake of argument...How do you know that the dog wasnt trained to chase deer? Deer dogging is a popular activity in some parts of the Ozarks. I hear dogs & ATV's running deer on the Shannon County side of the Current occassionally. I'm sure it occurs elsewhere.
