  1. another vote here too. same batteries for three years.
  2. Hmmmm! Seems like you keep me away from those places when we fish! Seriously.....congrats on the day of a lifetime. One of the reasons you come so highly recommended! See you in April?
  3. Wow! Nice fish. Congrats on a sweet catch and release!
  4. Did you sign his cap or shirt?
  5. I always have the crawdad color ones BUT it seems like my partner catches them on the green ones and I switch to that color. Logic tells me crawdad color with a splash of red for blood, but fish say different.
  6. Cows and Indian might be good. The smallmouth turn on a bit earlier down there anyway. Might want to watch the posts and follow the pattern. Transition banks are good year around.
  7. I like Aunts Creek but the transition banks around Cape Fair are hard to beat!
  8. Awesom bag. I think they had a 22 plus last year!
  9. Better that doing yard work.
  10. There has been a lot of bigger fish this spring already. I know of at least two people who caught seven pounders. I would be surprised if we don't have one over 8 somewhere in this tournament or another this spring. I am guessing 8.16. If I win I want the KVD XLJ valued at $230.00 though! Seems fair as it is a KVD tourney!
  11. We haven't seen any yet, but I think it is early. Hoping we can do without it this year.

    March 18

I have never been a morning person but fish mornings because that is when the tourneys I fished started. No tourneys this year. We headed out at 2PM and the ramp was full. We put in at Cape Fair and fished the transistion banks. Adam pulled in a 4.4 pounder early on a green colored square bill. We did well today but that was the largest. We also pulled them in on the wiggle wart in about 12 feet of water. If the wind was blowing in then we caught fish there. I didn't fare well on the white grub tail but talked to a guy at the ramp who said he had success on a white tube. When we returned to the ramp our truck was the only one left! It was dark and about 11 PM. I really like this evening and night fishing better! First time fishing with my best friend (except for wife and dog) since he returned from Iraq. A great day!
  13. Any luck? Heading to Cape area tomorrow afternoon.
  14. I would agree with his list. The fish doctors and some terminal tackle can get you a long ways on a short budget. There are still a lot of fish caught on a c-rigged fish doctor, texas rigged crawdad/worms and split shot set ups. You can also set up the drop shot with that equipment in the summer. I started a few years back with that exact equipment. I think Babbler is the one who suggested it. Over the years I added a lot (insane amount according to Mrs.) of stuff. The second stuff I accumulated were the Eakins jigs and double tail trailers. You can swim them, drag them, jig them.....almost anything. If you tie a good know you don't lose a ton of them either. They last and last. I would add a few top water baits such as the red fin next. Nothing more fun than catching top water in th morning! Sex does take a close second though.
  15. This thread should almost be a sticky note. Bill's advice workes year around. Hope Bill answers the wind question. I am not sure why BUT seems no matter where you fish you seem to catch more in the current or in the wind. I usually pick the side the wind is blowing toward. I don't know if it is blowing the feed the bait fish eat that way and in turn the fish follow the bait fish or what. It just seems to work that way. If the dam is pulling water hard then the fishing seems to turn on too.
  16. Oh Gosh!
  17. Here we go again......Champ?
  18. Depends on age of kids, weather, air and water temps and so on. I always take crawlers for the booger eaters as they don't care if it is a blue gill or a large mouth. A half-day guide trip would be a little insurance. House, Babbler the Erics and many other guys are good with kids. Babbler is still a kid himself! House is awesome with kids and makes me laugh whenever I am around him. Watch the boards.....white grub tail works for me in the spring, some guys swear by the stick bait and hopefully the red fin and top water might even be going by then. Smarter and better fishermen will hopefully chime in with more ideas.
  19. Opps! I meant Whackem not whacked. Sorry man! Taking windy Thursday and Friday off this week to fish. Worked to much last year!
  20. That's cool edyer. I guesses they closed that little pocket to fishing though with the penalty being death if you happen to be caught in there. Fish at your own risk. I don't want to steal the original poster's thread but there seems to be a finesse movement on the rock lately. Some folks thought I was a finesse fisherman with the 5/16 eakins jigs but people are going way smaller with the jigs and the float n fly techniques. I am going to copy you on the night fishing this year Whacked! Hope to see you out there this time!
  21. Hey now! People must be reading these boards as there were boats all over Aunt's yesterday. I just put in there and drove by as I suspected the fish would be on the points or nearby them. Everyone knows the Kings warm up first!
  22. Apparently, wherever I am not. I think some of the biggest fish I have landed were around the Cows too. Good areas down there not anywhere near Aunt's Creek!
  23. Met a guy in a Ranger boat one time, who told me he had to get a sticker. He said helloe because he saw my stickered motor. Mine are becoming more of a pink color. Seemed like a good idea as a way to know when you bump into a brother OAFer but never took off. I have one on the motor and one on the back window of the pickup.
  24. We didn't do as well as you. We went to the Aunt's Creek area and played with the boat. Was there a Champion owners tournament today? I saw more Champions that I have ever seen in one place on Table Rock today. What we did catch were small and in the 35 feet deep area of trees near points. White grub tail for us.
  25. I was sucking in my gut around you! Wifey says I can fish tomorrow though. Probably head up toward Cape though. Putting in at a place that shall remain un named though! I hope to see some of you out there!
