  1. http://www.conservationcafe.com/Fishing/tournament.asp has a good list, but misses the local tournaments some. The little local ones and night ones almost seem to be word of mouth and I am unaware of a place that has a complete list of Table Rock tournaments. Hopefully someone chimes in with better information. The day time tournaments get kind of sparse during the hotter months as they are concerned about fish kill.
  2. Wow! This is one of the most interesting threads. I love the stories and there are quite a few great writers here. We don't much care for snakes and they give me the heepy jeebies. Fishing this weekend and when it is warm out....we often jump in the lake for a cool down. Not so sure I will be jumping in now!
  3. It should be jig time, BUT I agree with Hoigfan. I think it will come from the James on some type of crank bait.
  4. Welcome to Table Rock. We fish Jackson Hollow quite a bit. Only one set of slips there. The whites were in there this spring and not a bad place to catch fish in the spring. A lot of good fishing close by!
  5. Since KVD can't fish his own event.....the wife is willing to sit this AIA out so KVD can come with me. I am sure he will be honored as it is very seldom....the Mrs. is willing to give up her seat. Where would he like me to meet? Also the Mrs usually makes sandwhiches.....does he prefer turkey or ham?
  6. It is seldom I disagree with Edwin or Motoman. Fishing is better than.....well anyway. I would be fishing if I could! Glad you went!
  7. Whew!
  8. I had hoped this thread died. I guess I am not helping kill it by replying. When Donna, Champ and my wife and I met for a sandwich under someone's slip during a tornado one fine Saturday....we had a pretty good discussion about catching and keeping versus sport fishing. We shared a story about some drunk folks who had way more than their share of fish and were butchering them as they cleaned them. Some of the fish even flopped off the cleaning bench into the water. It is kind of funny that people always think everything is about them. Champ is one of the nicest guys on the board. I don't think I have ever seen him without a smile. Of course if I caught all of the fish he does.....I would be grinning all of the time. Don't care much about catching and eating. That is up to you and you certainly have your legal rights. Some studies show a reasonable harvest even helps the fishery. Still...we don't keep bass and are particulary fond of smallmouth. If you are going to catch and clean.....would be nice if you didn't leave your trash at Aunt's Creek ramp and then did a fairly good job of cleaning. I am fairly sensitive to being respectful to people and nature. I think my past posts would hold up to that fact. If I offended anyone by anything I said.....I apologize. I know I offended E.P. one time and he still can give me a free punch in the stomach anytime he wants (wasn't a punch in the groin offense). The whole catching and cleaning the over the limit remark had a whole lot more to do with teasing me (about Aunt's Creek), Babler (prior post about guys cleaning fish poorly with an electric knife so he cleaned them), E.P. (he and House were given a pretty hard time last fall), House and some of the others that bump into each other on occasion and generally pick on each other to no end. Gosh! Never thought I would be mentiuoned with such a fine group of fishermen.....but I did it nyself. Regardles.....we have the same discussions every year about catch/keep, line, lures. reels. rods. and so on. I hate those forums where people post to do a search and you will know. I like lively debate. I like seeing different perspectives and the reasons for them. I like America. The point of all of that was.......it started as a post for Gary to pick on me about Aunt's Creek which happens to be closed the rest of the year and he knows it! He was just joshing with me as the coffee shop closed and we don't get to visit much anymore. It turned into good natured joshing for some others....but I know without a doubt that no offense was intended for Arsenal1477. We can start a whole new thread for that if needed! Just kidding.
  9. Thought you were a police oifficer. Hate the title Final Roll Call. That is what you do when someone dies.
  10. Capt House has spent time and advice on me too. He has went way out of his way to help me when I thought about getting sponsors, way out of his way to make sure i was on fish when I took our preacher out and sort of out of his way to help before a torunament with some advice. If you want to know about Hummingbirds he will talk until your ears fall off! I really enjoy this forum. I lived quite a few places, but never a place where people are so willing to help each other.
  11. Oh my brother.....you aren't an outsider now. You are signed up as part of the family now. I think Champ was actually summarizing our annual discussions and joshing with all of us. Wait until Babler reads the part about the electric knife. I hope he has the nitro pills close by!
  12. Hey.....I actually forgot where I left it.... a friendly reminder please? What is she hungry for right now?
  13. Man oh man! It seems like this director has went way out of the way to accomodate any complaints. He even went to the point of contacting another tournament director to work things out, but each time he says something he is beat like a rented mule. Fishing isn't really good for fish in general and tournament fishing is particulary bad for them. I strongly suspect catching them, killing them, cleaning them and eating them actually ruins their whole day. Shell and I are dedicated AIA fisher folks, but really appreciate the great lengths the OBBT guys have gone to in order to promote their tournament and answer any concerns people have.
  14. One of the tricks Babler taught me was to put one of those lead sticker weight thing-a-bobs on the very back of the first section of the red fin. Sometimes it takes two. I usually take ours down to a pond by the house and mess with them for a bit before fishing them in the lake. They don't seem very durable...and if you ever get a good one tracking just right.....never let it out of your sight!
  15. Did somebody say jig? It might surprise some of you, but that is my favorite! It usually works year round for me, but not this year! I hope it is on in two weeks! I won't be fishing this coming weekend! Mmmm maybe Friday.
  16. It is a sad day when you wear the batteries out on your digital scale!
  17. No clue on car, but boat would be about a half hour.....depending on boat traffic. This coming weekend......forever!
  18. 69ish up where we were. Probably warmer after today though!
  19. The James arm was chocolate milk and full of trees and garbage. Cleared up in the usual point 12 area.
  20. As usual...you fared better than us. We caught two on texas rigged fish doctor and two on a wiggle wart. We could get them to chase the top water, but not take it. Good luck on the tourney!
  21. I would second Mill Creek right now. We were in a boat throwing and there were guys on the bank throwing in the same area. I saw the bank guys catch two while we were there. It might be worth it to look at Cow Creek access too. I think there is a brush pile right there!
  22. Sweet fish and nice boat! Your boat has many more uses than some of the pricey bass glass.
  23. Wow! That is a great report. You write well. Made me feellike I was there figuring it out myself. I wish I couldfigure out the grub a bit more. Congrats on the fun day.
  24. Thanks. I think you tell me the same place every year. I couldn't remember if it was the first place on the right or the second. Thanks again this year!
  25. Sweet fish!
