  1. The Mrs and I are currently planning on fishing Sunday too. Some weird flu hit us though so we are as they say in the NFL are game time decision.
  2. Economy is tough right now, but surprised this boat didn't move with the perks. Good luck in any case Bill.
  3. Perfect for whatever my 2 cents is worth! I am glad they caught him. Sorry for the bad luck though. With the karma involved, you must due a big fish by now. Back to Table Rock forum for me!
  4. Man oh Man! This post has a great number of topics, my two favorites are the way to jig fish and the fishing line. RPS, I would be willing to try the Yozuri. I wonder of the flourocarbon breaking off has a great deal to do with the knot type. So to add another topic to this already numerous topic discussion...knots? I ususally used what I think is the improved clinch knot, except I go through tht eye twice first. Do you have to use a special knot with the Yozuri?
  5. When the dam is pulling water, the little wall on point 9 to the marker buoy could be a good time for you. Please don't tell anyone....
  6. That's funny!
  7. When I tried the flourocarbon, I read a great deal and the Bass Pro stuff and it had the best reviews. I fished a few times and the line kept breaking. I finally threw it all away and went back to the Maxima the same as I always do. The last time we fished, last weekend, the jig bite was the best for me. My partner didn't catch one fish. He would lift the rod a little and move the jig faster than I did. I was dragging slow and could fel every little bump or rock down there. I call it teasing the fish. My friend was getting a little frustrated and would try different baits as I caught them on the jig. Then he would switch to the jig, but still too fast. What I am trying to say is....slow was what worked for me. That and the fact that I love the Eakins jig. I have great confidence in it.
  8. I use Maxima fishing line. I have been talked into trying other lines as time passes, but always end up back with Maxima in fairly short order. I guess I mentioned it, because we don't usually lose that many. I actually had a Kentucky think he was a northern smallmouth and tried to tail walk. I wasn't quite ready for it and lost him. It sure was fun though. There were a few I lost trying to swing into the boat, and a few that came off as I was reeling in. None of them were huge (certainly not 10 pounds). It did seem we lost more than usual though. I probably just need more practice.
  9. I caught a nice fish up by Cape Fair couple of years back and had to drive around until I found someone to photograph me with it! Makes me laugh now. I think Spence had to do the same thing once. I guess we need more friends!
  10. We went out of Cape Fair about 6:45, a few minutes later than anticipated. We caught about eleven all on Eakins jig with double tailed grub. They were around 18 feet of water and usually near docks. There was no wind and a lot of sun. Two smallmouth and the rest were Kentuckys. A good fun day, but had hoped for a little more success. No size to speak of either. We did lose a bunchat the boat. I am not sure if I am not setting the hook hard enough or what. I had to wait for a very long time before even setting the hook. So happy to have the lake back!
  11. I concur.
  12. You were getting a little low on the saves this year. Good to see you are still out there, towing and saving lives!
  13. I didn't know yu were laid up. Need anything? We didn't end up going out after all. I fell asleep last night and didn't wake up until too late. Then the Mrs decided it was Labor Day! She is the hardest worker I know. I am not sure if I can keep up with her! Anyways....already talked to the boss and I am fishing Friday!!!!!!
  14. Wiggle wart?
  15. Thanks for the tips! The boat is plugged in and the mrs (my favorite partner) and I are thinking about it! Sounds like the weather is not gong to be as wet as originally anticipated. I hope everyone has a great weekend though!
  16. The weather has me thinking about wetting a line too! I usually stay away on the holiday weekends though.
  17. Hmm something suspicious? Just kidding!
  18. What city is she based in? Takes three boxes of pseudo for a one pot cook. The law in Missouri helps make the cooks smaller and most of the meth does come in from Mexico, BUT in Missouri there isn't a uniform reporting database. In other words...you can go to Wal-mart in one area of town, then another, then Wal-Green's then Pricecutter, then another town and so on.... Don't even get me started on Sam's Club! The only way to track purchases is for an officer to go to each pharmacy and request the logs, then spend hours entering them into your own home made spreadsheet. Great law, but it needs to go into one database somewhere. Even if it did then we have the smurfing.....
  19. Ahhhh another Scotty Gomez fan. You kiss the Stanley Cup too/
  20. It is called the one pot method. Believed to have originated in Michigan. Don't need to shake it as the lithium reacts with the water which provides the heat for the cook. Lots of trash all over the state. If you see a 2 liter pop bottle with what looks like grits or oatmeal in it....don't touch it. Okay seriously....someone ban me from the general forum...back to Table Rock!
  21. denjac, I sure would never argue with lab teachers. People huff anything from paint (they prefer gold) and gas to who knows what. Huffing was a huge problem in the Alaska villages as they were usually dry. I know it isn't new as there were rumors about ten years ago. Anyways.....I could be wrong!
  22. The drug World (to include police) is filled with rumors. Hers is an article from 2007. So it isn't a new rumor. Q: I've been seeing reports lately of people doing a new drug called "Jenkem". Supposedly, it involves fermenting human fecal material and urine, and then capturing the gas from said fermentation, and inhaling it. From what I can tell, it's pretty much unsubstantiated, and has all the hallmarks of another media drug scare. Please tell me people aren't actually doing this... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A: Dr. Z, The jenkem stories that have been circulating in the U.S. media are almost certainly the strange result of a hoax. We have seen no credible evidence that anyone in the United States, Canada, or Europe inhales sewage gas from bottled human or animal waste (which would primarily be methane) in order to get psychoactive effects. There is pretty good documentation that this story is simply a hoax/misunderstanding. When we first saw news coverage about jenkem we laughed at the silliness of the story and at the stupidity of the mainstream news media. We've been amazed to watch how quickly the idea has spread and at the level of prurient interest people have in the story. The origination of the story was several reports about kids in Zambia inhaling the gasses put off by human waste as an alternative to sniffing glue. We have no knowledge about the accuracy of these reports, but it's certainly possible the kids in Zambia thought it would be funny to make up a story for adult aid workers that they were inhaling sewer gas to get high. And while it is potentially believable that folks in the slums of Africa might resort to such a thing, it stretches the bounds of credulity to believe, without solid documentation, that this is done in the U.S. It seems vaguely possible that a handful of extremely experimental people in developed countries have tried this process, but the one online report of use that is cited by most of the media stories turned out to have been faked by the author who clearly also thought the idea was ludicrous. The story was posted to a public forum and included photos of a bottle supposedly containing human excrement. He later retracted his story, saying he had faked both it and the photos. The story spread as a sheriff's department in Collier County Florida issued an internal warning bulletin, including the photos from the faked forum report. From there, it has was picked up by a plethora of media outlets across the U.S., almost always reported on as a serious and dangerous new drug threat. Please. This seems to be a prime example of people in online forums saying ridiculous, obviously false things and then being used as a primary data source by people who ought to know better. It is difficult to believe this has received as much attention as it has. Erowid had decided not to comment on this until we noticed we were receiving a large number of search hits on the term 'jenkem' in November 2007. Without undeniably clear evidence that people are actually inhaling the gasses from human waste (outside of some performance art piece) we believe there is little reason to give this much attention: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Unfortunately, this much media attention can actually confuse people into trying something stupid because they think other people are doing it. Another rumor is the meth cooks putting strawberry Quick in the product so it tastes great for kids. You can't make it taste great. It will burn your fingers a bit if you touch it. You can eat it, but it is reported t be very metallic and burns all the way down. It is also reported you don't get a very good high this way as it gets filtered. I even spoke with the cops in Carson City where this rumor started. They were using the red P method of cooking and did not wash the product good enough so the red phosophorous color was left in the meth. Probably bored everyone to sleep!
  23. My better half is the same way. She is going to be my partner in AIA next year. She loves to fish and has never said no. Someone sent me the song. I guess I should have posted down in the forwards thing though, sorry about that. I just like our little forum here best!
