  1. It has been there a while (last year). I think it was 23 feet deep when we were there. If you come out of Aunt's Creek keep going straight toward the dock in front of you to the right of the swing. It is in the cove to the right. Last year the bass were up in the brush in that area. We had to stay out a bit from some trees and cast in. I kicked it overboard while trying to reel in a fish. I almost used profanity! We laugh about it now (when the wife isn't nearby). We have a great time fishing and can't wait to go again, but it seems like most of our spots have names related to some misfortune of the day! SO far we don't have one called that place where I set the hook in you. Who named Buzzard's Cove?
  2. Hey Mike, I didn't realize you lived in Nixa. Gary and some of us meet for coffee sometimes. Bring your GPS coordinates!

Mike, I thought you might want to keep it under your stocking cap until after Saturday. Was great to meet you. I think I saw you sitting near the back of the room, stage left, at Babbler's seminar in Springfield. Thanks for sharing some free info with us. Our plan might be similar to yours in area, but different presentation. Thanks for setting me straight on take off point too! I would have at at Mill Creek for hours. See you at Ahoy's! The Mrs. still wants to go. I was surprised at how excited she was to fish a tourney. She has been talking preparation since she found out I needed someone to take Adam's place. She bought a bass book and started reading about bass. If she catches a ton of fish.....we will never live to hear the end of it. I am going to tie on your recommendation for her. It was an awesome day on the water yesterday. The best of this year for so far for sure.

    Photo of happy boy!
  5. Took the neighbor (also great friend) and his eight year old out fishing today. We were looking for the bluegill that always seem to pester me, but only found a few. We put in at Aunt's Creek and fished the transition banks in the area. Caught a couple of fifteen inch Kntucky's on the smoke/pepper grub in about fifteen feet of water. The morning was chilly with wind. The wind died down a little after noon and we didn't catch another fish after that. Met S/M out there in his Champion. He seemd to be faring better than us, but I will let him share what he was using if he wants to. I thought I saw SkeeterP and Nitroman at Schooner's , but didn't get close enough to tell. Water temps 51-55. It was an awesome day and Mason, the eight year old, was all smiles the whole time.
  6. I would second all of those guides. Not just good fishermen but good folks!
  7. Wear a cap! Going to chill a bit. Hope to see you out there. Putting in at Aunt's Creek tomorrow and Mill on Friday and Saturday.
  8. Well if you ever at that place and snag a Falcon Lowrider with black tape around the handle and a Pflueger President reel (never casted).....would you mind giving me a call?
  9. I would think it depends on sun and wind. If the sun is out.....they might be on rocks in shallows....no sun and might be a bit deeper than now. I bet they will be hungry though. Can't wait to see what the smart guys say.
  10. You fishing Saturday at AIA? Everyone putting in at Mill Creek? Do you think that ramp can handle everyone?
  11. Hey motoman! I was complaining to my neighbor how I needed a bigger faster boat......when he told me he had no boat at all. Kind of made me feel silly! So I am taking him and his eight or nine year old boy out tomorrow. We will probably start in Aunt's Creek and try to get the boy some easy blue gill, then head down for a burger at Kimberling. Bass will have to be worked in too. We will be in a white/red Skeeter. Hope to bump into you,
  12. Hey Whackem.....we have a place we call the forest too. Wonder if it is the same place? James River area?
  13. I like the patterns post. Secret spots are great, but they don't seem to work for me. I fish a little different than the next guy and so on. I have never once fished any of the Shell Knob spots you showed me. I have a friend with a cabin near there, but we always fish similar spots, not yours. I will tell someone from out of town how and where I caught some fish, but locals can find their own locations using patterns. With that in mind....I often look on the map and try to see where people are fishing. It makes it easier to relate to similar structure or bank types in the area I fish. It also helps me learn the lake better. An example would be the buttermilk or whatever you called it. I have never heard of it and I thought I knew most places between point 10 and point 13. Of course we have our own pet names for places. We have one really nice place to fish that we call "that place you accidently kicked your brand new rod in the water and never got it back" place. One of my favorites is the "one where your Lucky Craft is still forty feet up in the tree" place. Patterns help me eliminate water. Trees or rocks and how deep save a great deal of time. Even when people are catching them on stickbaits...I often fish with the jig. I just know to have a slower presentation. Thanks for making my fishing time even more fun!
  14. South on 13......right on OO. Follow Double O the end. Has two ramps.
  15. Thanks, by Thompson Hollow?
  16. Hey Bill, Thanks for the report. We are going Wed, Fri and Sat. Where is Buttermilk? I fish that area quite a bit and I can't picture it. Thanks again for the free info!
  17. Sweet looking fish, congrats!
  18. Bill Beck is the other Bill.
  19. Bob, Rainy Lake in International Falls? I lived there for ten years and managed the Holiday Gas Station when it was across from the Lumber Yard. If so let me know. I miss Rainy Lake small mouths.
  20. There are lots of great fishing spots around Aunt's Creek. Look for the transition banks, humps and saddles. If you come out of Aunt's Creek and take a right.....you will end up by an island. Great fishing around that island right now. A half day guide trip from one of the fellers would well be worth the money. Table Rock is a different kind of lake. The two Bill's or Don House would be good choices. Eric is on here and has a great reputation too. Well for fishing anyhow.
  21. Hey! I need more patches on my shirt, and i like jetskiers fine. Seriously, I do enjoy visiting with the tourney guys in the morning and at the end of the day. Met SkeeterP and Nitro at a tourney and they were quite the pair. I can't say as anyone shakes in their boots when they see my name on the list of anglers. I do wish they would stop thanking me for the donation though. We seem to circle over the same debates over and over, keep bass or catch and release, fishing fish beds, tourney versus non-tourney anglers, jetskiers and some I am missing. Seems we always come to the same conclusion....to each their own as long as they respect themselves, others and our lake.
  22. Hey can't wait to see you there SkeeterP. Meet you for coffee again? Nice of you guys to help and for the Pro to give a hand and glad he wasn't injured. See ya March 28.
  23. I think I was the only one wearing a Skeeter cap at the weigh in too. I wonder if we will be on the television show? The weigh in was fun to watch and there was a large crowd. Lots of friendly folk there.
  24. I am starting to think we need to legalize marijuana around here! Now where did I put my double shot espresso?
  25. Some really familiar names on that list.
