  1. We just fish the little tournies on Table Rock so we are bit different. We also use a small boat with a 90 horse and fish mostly for fun. We don't have to pre-fish as we are already fishing most of the time. $120.00 gas fill the boat and truck. Depends on line but $60.00 gets me a large roll of Maxima fishing line and I usually keep a couple rods with the florocarbon on it. The large roll lasts all year, usually. I think tackle is a lot less too. Not sure about these umbrella rigs but usually your tackle is narrowed down to 2-3 choices or less. I would think $50.00 of tackle would be plenty. Entry fees for the tourneys we did ran closer to $200.00 but there are cheaper or spendier depending on what you are looking for, Not counting missed work that is around $430.00. I still think that is an extremely high estimate for folks that live here and fish the tournaments for fun. Traveling guys have to add food and motel, and the pre-fishing which would get you back to your $800.00 mark.
  2. I thought Stone County removed the sirens? http://www.topix.com/forum/city/galena-mo/TUJCU6LTND2VLFTN6
  3. Nice fish and nice hat!
  4. Here we go......LOL

  6. Phil had some orange OAF stickers. I have one on my motor and one on the back window of my pickup. I think the only other person I have found with a sticker is Champ.
  7. Thanks for the report. Not sure I have the talent to fish the A rig
  8. You can pretty much always catch Ks off the piers at Bridgeport.
  9. Well heck, there I went and posted, and I was going to stay away from this thread....lol.......I'm a glutton for punishment....lol Quick note to Techo: Do you REALLY have 2 golf clubs ? I was lying, I only have one. We might be dangerous. (to spectators)..........LOL Hate to take this off the original posters topic.....to late I guess. Ordered some Taylor Made Rac Lt today. They are from the year 2003 I think but a guy gave me one he found at a garage sale and loved it. I will soon have 14 clubs to add to my confusion. Maybe should ask Lilly to add a golf section with all the other ones?
  10. Sounds like we should partner up then! Together we will have four clubs! Did take two lessons. The second guy told me to try another sport.
  11. So a few more questions: 1. How many rods can you bring onto the pro's boat? 2. Is a large soft tackle box with the plano 3600s fine to bring aboard or should you downsize? Again no clue. 3. Food and Beverage? What is the deal here? Do you guys eat during a tournament? Small soft cooler with water and sandwich, etc? 4. If the AM is snagged is it rude to ask the Pro to go get the bait? Just break off? 5. Do you provide your own life vest? 6. Do you net each others fish? Seems polite but if a mistake is made netting on my end I would just assume jump in the water and swim home and feel awful. 7.. Do you arm wrestle for gas money fee at the end of the day? Thanks- Brett Dennis pretty much answered your questions. Most Pros are nice though so.... all of the stuff above is a seldom thing. If you are snagged though you might be kissing the bait goodbye. Time is money and not fishing is expensive in a tourney. I usually paid the gas money up front. When you are paired up, most Pros meet with you and give you an idea of what types of baits they intend to fish so you know what to bring. The price of gas kind of determines how much you pay too. Hard to fish in the big boats cheap. I usually ask about how much would be fair to them and throw in an extra ten or so. If the plan fails and you end up running all over the lake I would throw some extra in at the end of the day. Most (not all) of the Pros spent a week or so making a plan on where to fish at what time of the day. Wise not to offer up your favorite fishing spot unless specifically asked for. Hope you have fun. If you get into it you might want to link with a Pro so if there are more AMs than Pros you always get to fish.
  12. Open to most anywhere too.
  13. Not sure where I heard....but I think we only need like 40 players to have a tourney? Also don't know if anyone has connections.....Island Greene in Republic is fairly friendly and nice. Sounds like a blast. Depending on entry fee and location I can get at least one more.
  14. That was funny!
  15. I would like to play too. Not to brag but it doesn't matter if I play left handed or right as I suck both ways. Bisuckal so to speak! I have put two people in the hospital though. Their fault as they should have never been standing so near the tee box! Safer on the fairway!
  16. Champ...sure didn't mean to offend you if I did. I fished with French out of Kansas City and an awesome guy. If you get to fish with Charlie Campbell......he packs extra sandwhiches just for you! Fished with some others during the flood year and on LOZ.... had such a terrible time......I probably will never fish Pro-Am again. Can't remember who said it a few posts back....but I am not paying a tourney entry fee to fish with a Pro and have "low expectations." I often go to the dentist with low expectations, beg for sex from the wifey with low expextations, but don't fish with low expectations. When I fish.....I expect a bite at any second. High expectations! I also am not paying a tournament entry fee and pitching in for gas to "learn from the Pro." Much more information to be gathered from fishing with Bill Babler, Bill Beck, Don House, Eric Prey or many of the other guides around with less investment. With that in mind.....if you don't own a boat, can't afford one or want to fish many different lakes then a PRO-AM might be for you! Pro-Ams aren't bad....just not for me. Still would rather fish with the Mrs (increases odds on aforementioned begging) or hire a guide to learn.
  17. I quit fishing Pro-Ams for this very reason. I had some good experiences and can see people who don't own boats and want to fish tournaments doing them....BUT I learn a lot more from guides like Babler with less expense and always have a good time. Not saying co-angler or Am side of things is all bad, just saying doesn't suit me. I can fish all day and not catch a fish with my lovely wife for way less money than paying to ride around with RM!
  18. Whoa! Lived a lot of places but no where as great as here in the Ozarks! Come home when you can brother!
  19. I don't do so ewell in the fall anyway so no answer here. I think things just cycle. Two or three springs from now we all will be talking how awesome of a fishery Table Rock is!
  20. You can fish with me. Have a way with the Feds and can't hear the guy on the back anyway. I just smile and nod a lot like I can hear ya.

    Upper End

Upper end James is a myth right now and does not exist!
  22. There are some crappie in Aunt's but like on the other two threads.....you might want to head to Cape Fair area for crappie.
  23. Like Bill mentioned....your boat will be fine up there. The water is narrower there and the wind doesn't usually get to bad. If you put in at Bridgeport, you should be able to pull some Ks off the bridge piers and off the rock bank. You can decide where you want to go from there based on what you are fishing for.
  24. I was just trying to stretch mine out until spring. I have been following the post E. Prey put on here a few years ago and these last batterties lasted almost three years. Of course hardly fished last year and this year the trips have been shorter ones fitting in when I can.
