  1. Welcome to the family.
  2. Is Bill still losing weight or the fish getting bigger? I think he was teasing ya OTF! I enjoy your blog.
  3. 27 pound bag? I just dream about that kind of thing!
  4. Hey Gary....what they asking for a gallon? I didn't know they sold bulk there. There has been some interesting discussions about bulk oil in the past too.
  5. Same reason I have the I-Phone. I use it for work. I tend to agree with you on lo-fi versions too. Hard (not impossible) to complain about such a cool free place. It is the people that make the place interesting anyway. I still really liked the other way though.
  6. I was missing you too!
  7. Hey Gary! How fast you have that Cobra flying now. I would have to agree with Gary on mechanics.
  8. Thanks!
  9. I might have missed it, but what did you catch the walleye on? Was it a stick bait. Did you notice water temps near Aunt's Creek?
  10. Im a bit jealous! Congrats on the great day.
  11. I think the Rick Lapointe is the Razr guy around here. He is really nice and might even let you borrow a rod for a weekend. I believe they are made in Oklahoma by a master rod maker. Captain Don House's rods are made at the same place. The rod maker makes a large number of rods under different names. If you drop Don a PM he will meet you somewhere and show you the same rod as the Razr under a different name. Prepare to spend some time with hm though because he really believes in the product and is kind of long winded about it! Kidding Don! You will have to drop him a PM or look for him on Facebook, he doesn't come around here as much anymore. I have to agree with Jeremy on the Falcon rods though. They are light and sensitive. You can pick used ones up from Bill Babbler at times. Just drop him a PM. You can get them at almost half price sometimes and they have only been used for a year. Personally as I replace rods...I replace with Falcon. I think they are hard to beat at the price versus quality ratio. It is very seldom that I would ever disagree with Jeremy as he is way smarter than me and can out-fish me anytime anywhere. Here comes the big fat BUT! I agree the BPS reels are good for the money, BUT they don't compare no way no how to Shimano reels. Bill Babbler talked me into dropping some cash on a Shimano mg51 a few years ago. Hands down the best the best reel I have ever owned. (Bill seldom gives bad advice) Thinking about it now makes me smile. I also think Pfleuger reels are good though. I have two or three Presidente spinning reels that are smooth as butter and pretty indestructible. With all of that said.....it still comes down to personal preference.
  12. You might be a red neck if......That is funny.
  13. Hard to ask for tackle, Unless........you happen to leave your favorite jig laying around with the package and a small note to self to pick more up when you have time. My kids get me a new pair of needle nose and scissors every year for the boat. They seem to get rusty as the summer progresses. Hoping for one of those little books with a verse or prayer in it for each day of the year and a place in the margin to write how the fishing conditions were and how we fared. I love Christmas.
  14. We actually have taken a sunflower heater with us and a small tarp. When Mrs. techo was cold (it was really me as she is tougher than I) we start it up for a few minutes and hold the tarp up. It only took a few minutes to get warmed up again. If it isn't fun then there isnt much reason to call it a hobby in my mind. Of course we do the layer thing, coffee thermos and all of that too.
  15. Kudos to you and Doug for your bravery. I took the day off to prefish for Sunday's AIA Tournament too. Instead I stayed mostly indoors and withdrew our names for Sunday's tournament. I know of at least three other folks that did the same. My wife still wanted to fish as she is way tougher than I, but i begged to stay warm on Sunday. Good luck to you and Doug!
  16. I have thr Rapala one too, I seldom play video games and the kids thought it would get me into it. It was fun for the novelty of it, but I bet we haven't played it more than a couple of times in almost a year.
  17. Rainy Lake is on the Canadian border at Interantional Falls, Minnesota. Check out Thunderbird lodge. I could post lots of small mouth pictures as it is one of the best small mouth lakes in the Nation. It has actually ranked second behind Panama by some magazines in the past. Red Gut bay is on the Canadian side and has slabs of crappie. Walleye is what the lake is famous for. There is musky there, (Brule Narrows) but you know it is 100 cast per musky catch. To much work for me. Anyway......a place you might want to consider.
  18. erics posts could almost be a beginners sticky. Good info for sure. This is a family. We are all together. Let me know if you are near Nixa in the Spring. JW Harris has a kids fishing day on a little stocked pond here that is great fun!
  19. Welcome to the forum! I hope you catch another fish of your dreams. Maybe a mermaid.....
  20. Holy Poop! Thats a nice looking fish. Welcome to the brotherhood.
  21. I would enjoy catching a fish on my own hand-made jig if I had the time and talent. I usually eat on the run and mow the grass at night. I have very little time to make jigs. I would like to try to make a jig with a few more strands of red and maybe a red eye or a red spot on the head. It just seems like a little blood or injured bait makes a better target in nature for the strong. Of couse I could be wrong!
  22. They do look nice. I'm ordering some.
  23. Happy Thanksgiving brother. We are hoping to hit the lake Saturday. Hope you do well.
  24. D, C then B and then A and E. I guess I just love jig fishing. You can do anything with them. Swim them, drag them. fish them vertical or hop them. Lots of ways to fish a jig. I would have to concur with the people who said which ever jig you have confidence in. I have a friend that loves fishing a Roadrunner no matter what I catch them on. He always catches some nice bass on a Roadrunner. I think no brand is wrong, but the best fisher-people are versatile in many fishing presentations and conditions. With all of that in mind....I never go anywhere on the lake without a Jewel or Eakins tied on.
