As far as maps go imo lakemaster has the advantage on features and coverage. For the lakes I fish anyway. I can post screen shots of certain lakes of you wanted me to.
It's more the hook size and diameter I'd be worried about. If I pour my own I'll likely make a hole in the head for thick flourocarbon to be used as a weedguard. Maybe two holes so I can make a loop.
I guess I shoulda added I'm running a 998 at the console and a 798 at the trolling motor. I've had an 898 before and it was a good graph also. The lakemaster mapping alone makes them worth it imo.
I'm running humminbirds and really like the user friendliness of them. I don't think there's any clear advantage of one over the other more than it's just personal preference. I do know that I've heard good things about humminbird customer service.
I don't mean to say it won't work. I do mean tough that a jig or paca craw would be better. Heavier hook, line, rod etc etc. all better for flipping bushes. Perhaps a cut stick bait in a heavier head would be ok but that's not a bed setup so it really doesn't count.
That's kinda what I figured from what I've read. I bought what I could find though. If it. Becomes something I do on a regular basis I'll probably make a mold and pour my own. We will see.
You can work from the butt end. It's doable but worth it is up to you.
Remove the old cork by ripping it apart with pliers. Use heat and a razor to remove the old epoxy. Close to the reel seat make a tape bushing that matches the id of the carbon tube you will be putting. Then do the same at the butt. Epoxy the heck out of the rod and slide the tube on and let it dry. Then glue the cork grip that is reamed to fit the carbon tube or you can have it on to begin with.
It really just depends if you have someone do it and how find of the rods you are. Between labor and parts it will likely be $30-50 probably.
I didn't notice his size but I do remember his wife was in back. I believe it was a white boat. That's a shame that it wasn't an isolated event. The pressure was plenty light enough everyone coulda found a spot.
There was quite a bit of wind in Carthage when it rolled through but apparently it got meaner down by the lake. I was unfortunately awake when it hit talking to a policeman because some drunk idiot got into my mustang. The neighbors saw it. They caught him and there was no damage so it turned out ok.
Evidently riding like that on a boat is illegal. Falling off a boat would be the reason they made it illegal. Someone fell in and someone died. No wonder why it's illegal...
Probably all of us are.
And who here would not be deserving of the consequences of it had tragedy happened because of our poor judgement?
Responsibility is that tricky word that most don't want to be associated with.
