  1. As usual I'm 1/2-1 full power ahead of other people. I'm not sure why I prefer it that way.
  2. This is ts a selfish sales pitch but a cheaper option would be a custom built rod made on a mhx 844 blank. The standard mhx isn't as sensitive as a fox to me but a friend that can easily afford any rod he'd want says it's the best jig rid in existence. I've built him several now. The speed and power is no doubt nice on them.
  3. That is just awesome! As a father of two fishing boys it's so much more fun when they're catching them.
  4. Lol! I ordered a couple but I don't remember the color. I'm not overly impressed with the colors in the online pics but we'll see when they show.
  5. Yea don't do that. That was to close.
  6. I plan on trying this one. Currently I'm using the 6-10. Last time I fished a jerkbait (when I gave the report) my right hand hurt for two days. It's a carpal tunnel issue I think. Maybe. I reel left handed always. Same happens to my if I buzz bait or spinnerbait all day. I need a couple rightys for these occasions. So my point is a little lighter rod might help me a little.
  7. 6 out of 12 is pretty stout.
  8. 3/4oz would be the very upper limit to me. An 855 may be better. Your preference and mine may be different though.
  9. I like them quite a bit. For some reason mid year I put it down. No idea why. I made a mold out of a football jig mold. I twist the hook hanger 90 degrees so I can run a split ring on my hook and use owner rigging hooks.
  10. The 844 is a hard to beat good all around me heavy rod. The bcr 854 is better for pitching though.
  11. Or use photobucket
  12. Put ice skates on. Could be fun.
  13. Another time in a BASS weekend series at grand in March the boater told me if I caught one more drum he was throwing me in lol. I think it was on a clown rogue.
  14. I left a trap in one once. I hate them things. I hate them more on my boat carpet.
  15. It especially applies if you all fish the Grand Lake Anglers For Christ next year!!!

    Hoorag

My wife got me one of these for Christmas. I love that thing! It's ama what a thin piece of material can do. http://www.hoorag.com/products-page/all-bandanas/lunker-junkie/
  17. You have to deduct a bass for every drum you catch.
  18. Thanks for the comments gentlemen. It was frustrating seeing them wadded up like that and nothing. I thought my boys and I were in for a slugfest. At the same time if we had got on those we wouldn't have had as much fun jerkbaiting.
  19. The wood thing is what I noticed the other day. Not all came from wood but as the day went on it seemed more critical. They'd blast it sometimes. The one in the pic with my son came of a lay down even. Good for you all going though. We went for another unsuccessful day of pre wart hunting.
  20. Thanks again for the compliments guys. Here's the screens I'm waaaaay late one. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I assume the big school is whites and the other is crappie?
  21. Great report! Interesting on the fish scattering after catching just one.
  22. I'll try to get those humminbird screens up tomorrow. Today was a wart hunting day with the family. Good night we covered some ground today lol. One lonely wart to show that cost to much. We have fun running around though.
  23. Good deal and good seller. I like how deep these get down.
  24. Thanks fellas. My oldest is definitely a fishing nerd like us. He's been using a baitcaster for several years now and literally has better equipment than when I bought my first bass boat. He's eager to learn and is a hard worker. From trying to run down pre rap warts to fishing in the rain he's right there with me. My youngest has really come around this year. He's still in the retie a thousand lures all day long stage but he has fun in the boat. Really it's hard for a little guy to bass fish on a lake. Long casts, working lures right, feeling bites and the bottom etc is tough for a little one. He saved up for his first baitcaster this year and is coming along good. When he saw big brother catch a couple jerkbait fish he got serious so he's got a little competitive spirit in him. That's good imo. They both will rip a jigging spoon as long as I can. It's hard to go from tournament mode to fun fish mode when both are in the boat. With my oldest, Carter, it's easy because he will work as hard as anyone and focus all day long. Darius my littlest one requires more attention and needs accomadated for more obviously. I don't mean to brag but I'm proud of them. Here they are with some warts I payed to stinking much for.
  25. We launched about 730 and fished till 4ish. My first three fish came on a jerkbait half way back-very back of the deep north cove by the bridge. After that I found what may be the largest school of fish I've ever seen (I'll post screens later) on a flat but could not get a single bite from whatever they were. I assume whites. The school was massive. I spooned them until I got fed up and left which was to long. Then in Mill creek I caught quite a few fish again on a jerkbait on channel swing banks mostly around cedars. They'd blast that mcstick if I worked it next to the trees. I'd say most were 5'-10' deep. I was mostly doing a 3-2 cadence with a maximum of a two second pause. I had several followers. I believe a few came out of trees close to the boat. I tried for a main lake bite in the wind but no love there for me. My son caught his first two jerkbait fish ever today while using an xcaliber clown EEratic shad. Pre launch rock skipping. First jerkbait fish. 16" spot. Exact mcstick I used today.
