  1. Hank, it is already in effect in several states and building inspectors are required to verify. Arkansas is under 2006 IBC entire state. Granted a homeowner can do as they wish on their land but it forces contractors to do it right. I have been on several cases where improper building was done and the contractor < or his insurance if he was out of business > had to pay for the repairs. If a inspector misses something and signs off on it and later it is a problem guess who pays for it!
  2. LOL, not in to murder but I did love the RECALL section of it, pretty much the same thing as death as it yanks the problems out of office.
  3. Spoon, I could agree with you but its hard for me to based off being in construction all my life. I learned early on to put aside a minimum of 3 months worth of bills and then 10% above that number monthly for still enjoying life. So when people tell me they still have all those things I look at wonder if they understand the basic old saying of rainy day savings. It just something I do not have much sympathy for. I was a single father that worked went to school and still had bills to pay and all the other things and still managed to find time to work enough to save those 3 months and pay all my bills and still spend time with the rug rat. I am not saying it is easy but I also see no reason it cannot be done if someone has the will to. Its not fathomable to me to understand why people would rather spend money on toys and playing before they had a cushion in case of unforeseen emergency.
  4. I would love to see the government institute a national building code law, it wouldn't be hard just simply require all building to meet "international building code latest version" talk about something that would do nothing but benefit everyone. Second require all contractors to be licensed for the trades they practice. I know I know off topic but as a builder I hate seeing sub-standard or _ _ _ _ _ _ rigged jobs. Nothing makes me madder than seeing sub standard work that cost the client more money down the road to repair what could and should have been done right the first time! On and I so am behind lower cost trucks and boats sign me the hell up now lol.
  5. Justin scroll back a page, there is a 28th amendment I found on the web I could get behind to a degree a few minor changes but its a decent start. No need to hang the politicians if problems can be fixed by law. But if it ever went to a revolution the first rule of revolution is kill all the politicians you want out so they can never again threaten you. Romans did it but forgot to take out Caesars nephew and best friend and General Marcus Antony, proving never leave loose ends or they will bite you in the end.
  6. Justin, I do not know if you have followed this much but the Military has had elements put on furlough. Roughly 800 to 1000 in Fort Smith alone. We as a Nation Cannot put our Military on furlough. It would violate the constitution as providing for the common defense is right in the preamble. Is there cuts and even permanent cuts that can be done? Certainly without doubt but to furlough the Military should never be an option as a whole and constitutionally cannot be one. But as many people are finding out in this temper tantrum there are a many positions and programs that are not needed and can be cut back. This is quickly backfiring on the regime in charge as the PEOPLE are seeing just how much waste is in the federal government. I am telling people OPEN YOUR EYES! STOP THINKING PARTISIANLY! AND LOOK AT WHAT IS NOT NEEDED ITS SHOWING THROUGH! Many are now asking questions of just how much government is needed is so much can be closed.
  7. Quill, I use to believe in writing and was with you on volume but with the current politicians in office they really do not care. Unless you are a big time contributor/donor/lobbyist. I did a lot of research on the Constitutional Convention and believe it would be the best solution. It would scare the hell out of Washington and a 28th amendment could quickly stop the insanity that is Washington DC. The reason Article 5 is there is for exactly this situation, for the states to step in when Washington cannot or will not. It is the ultimate stop gap in the event of a tyrannical government. Our founders were very wise and put many protections for the people and options in the constitution.
  8. Ok think about this one. The Federal Government Employees WILL as soon as the shut down is over get their pay retroactively! So the government will pay them as soon as the politicians can stop arguing. So why not keep the people working? I mean it sure must be nice to get time off and get paid for it all so your bosses can increase their credit card limit.
  9. Nice looking decoys they look so much better in the cart with geese on them.
  10. Larson, I don't mean to change subject but it is the one program from day one has done what it was suppose to and I buy extra stamps every year. I have been privileged to be to many of the NWR's and can honestly say going to them with an open mind you will never be disappointed. I wish Duck Commander would do a show dedicated to the stamp to get more people to buy it.
  11. Ok Larson I will name the one and only program they run and haven't screwed up. THE FEDERAL DUCK STAMP! Hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often
  12. Totally agree Wayne, Your post actually reminded me of the "FRIENDS OF" Groups, and why I mentioned them. Talk about a way to run many programs it would be great, volunteers doing the work that already want to help. Think of all the "Grass Mowing" complaints we heard about this year and I would bet those groups would do it regularly and probably more often. Wonder how much that would save the parks in money each year, Heck with that how much money they could put back in the Park for improvements.
  13. No arrogance at all. I asked you had you read it and you said NO! By your own admission you did not read the bill and were making assumptions clearly off of the media you yourself outlined Please also note I took the time to locate the BILL and read it to understand not what one media outlet or person was saying but so I knew exactly what was being argued over in congress. I further directed you to the Bill so that you could read what you hadn't by your own admission and make an informed opinion based off of it. I actually listen to 60's and 70's radio during the day and seldom watch the news unless its for the weather. I do see post on here and other social media regarding topics and when one interest me I will research it to learn the facts! That is FACTS not what this person or that news media wants to opinionate as fact. When I choose to comment it will be my opinion based off the facts as I have read them. If wrong I am more than happy to admit it as well. But at least I do my due diligence to try and obtain the facts prior to commenting.
  14. Wayne, there are many (friends of) groups that could easily and willingly work to maintain basic levels of safety and cleanliness to the Federal Parks and refuges. The Government will not allow it. These groups would work for no profit to empty trash pick up trash and maintain facilities. The parks could stay open, it is the FED who is not allowing it and that comes from the Executive Branch and its secretaries.
  15. Ok you had no idea what was in the Bill except for what you heard. So making assumptions based on no knowledge is exactly what the democrats who you tout did in passing the law. Pelosi herself said "we have to pass the bill to find out what is in the bill" that's a factual statement. That is in no way a represented form of government that is not even government or should not be.
  16. Don't look now but Obummer is trying to close the Ocean also the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida http://nation.foxnews.com/2013/10/05/nps-rangers-patrol-newest-‘government-shutdown’-closure-ocean
  17. Larson I can tell you I have read it many times and in fact had to be able to recite the Bill of rights in front of class. This is the most prime example of the houses power of the purse and of checks and balances. I do not care what political party you are from or what political party in DC is doing what this is exactly how the founders set-up this country at its primal level. Do we need a healthcare? Certainly, but not this way not under government control. This could have been done by mandating to private insurance they cannot disqualify anyone. This could have been done by the government regulating cost of service ( already applicable laws for gouging in effect ) it would be simple and could have been affordable. The only other thing they would have needed to do was create a law allowing for cross state shopping for insurance this would lower cost as competition always does. So two new laws and enforcement of current gouging laws and we would have had a system that did not break the bank. But add in politicians of all shapes and colors and you cannot ever get simple straight forward laws to help the people. You want a real good one read this the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida
  18. You have time to post without knowing and there is the problem people NOT KNOWING either because they want to listen to the media or others comments. I in fact posted the Bill on this very thread! There is no place in it that says defund or repeal! In fact it only ask for a delays, Delays in fact that the vast majority of Americans have asked for and with the deadline for MANDATORY ENROLLEMENT set for 1-1-14 it only is reasonable in a country of 330,000,000 million potential enrollees. A 1 year delay on the mandatory requirement is very much in order. Second is the requirements on Congress. Go read the bill its on page two of this thread. Then answer why the Senate Democrats would not wish to agree to it. Its not big bad or evil it is in fact reasonable to request the delay in the mandatory as the exchanges opened October 1st and have admittedly had many problems. Why not delay it for a year again DELAY, Not repeal or defund.
  19. Mark I just have to know, Have you read the Bill the House sent to the senate? for the budget?
  20. Guys writing the politicians in Washington is useless, There is however a potential solution and one that has a slim chance of happening. I would suggest that if enough people were to write all their respective State officials that they could under “Article 5 of the Constitution” Call for a Constitutional Convention to introduce an Amendment. This is legal and constitutional though it has never been done officially. However the 27th amendment was done via States ratification though it took 204 years. I believe in today’s climate that the people are of a mind that with enough force brought to bear by letter writing there is a slim chance a 28th amendment could be brought before a Constitutional Amendment and if it were to happen would be adopted. This would effectively cut out the Washington politics and place laws on them by Constitutional authority that would force change to this nation. Here is one of the examples I found I could agree with.
  21. Larry, truth be told they shut the parks down ( lock the bathrooms ) ( turn off the water ) and final mowing for the year at the end of the month. Basically the only winter shut down service is trash emptied and lights on at night. So nothing changes during the shutdown that wouldn't be happening in winter closure.
  22. Is he a Jack Russel?, seen one try to breed a donkey and tractor tire, managed to get the Great Dane, funny as hell seeing him hanging off the back end of it
  23. Ok ill bite, How about this Under Obamacare not all taxes are uniform as prescribed by law. Furthermore the BILL, Was touted as NOT A TAX and therefore should after supreme court affirmation of it being a tax gone back to House for them to vote on as a "TAX" as prescribed by the constitution. As the house is by law the originator of all taxes/bills. Had it been done this way it would never have passed. I am honestly surprised no one has gone after it on this bases as it is constitutional.
  24. OMFGLMAO, Someone get a beer for that one.
