My Favorite Fish.
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in General Angling Discussion
I will not only tell you but take you out to get them and if you are real nice a few birds while we are at it lol. AJ's are fun but usually when im on them a cobia swimming past me gets my attention and I loose interest fast. My eyes glaze over my mind starts seeing a grill and I go bat crap crazy and when its all over I ask the All Mighty why he has to put both those fish in the same spot. Same problem when Im Permit fishing wrecks and a stupid Dolphin shows up. Saltwater can be very frustrating when the good eaters come by. Kinda like when I go after striper and walleye get on my mind. -
Worse two intersections I know of are at 71 and Bear Hollow and 71 340. Friday afternoon there will be a wreck of some type at one of them. Though I have noticed since Benton County went wet its cut down on the wrecks considerably at those locations.

Quill, any SEC team should beat any SEC team, but on any given Saturday weird things happen I mean just look at the Notre Dame fans last year they thought they actually could win against Bama. Just goes to show how crazy people are. We in the SEC know the only way to beat an SEC team in the Championship is to Play two SEC teams against each other. Until we get SEC match-ups going this should just be preseason follies to get the rust off. Oh well, Should be interesting to see the playoffs next year. I cant wait for the crying from all the other conferences when they all start having to play and loose to SEC teams and all the claims how they can beat them for years will be shut up.

Oh come on Bella Vista! Try OLD PEOPLE... and my favorite of all those trying to go down Oldham and Kingsland in ice storms. Heck I have sat at THC Rogers just to watch the wrecks its like Nascar on an Ice or Snow Day. and yet they let the school busses run knowing this. Stupid just aint on the roads its in the office too

Lets just make it simple ACE lakes are Federal Property and thus under Federal Regulations as well as State, State being secondary and the Federal regulation is simple Normal navigation pretty much is anyplace on the lakes. So simply put turn on the dam lights.

No surprise there. Defense has a argument founded in law and will try to use it. Will it hold up? That will be up to a Jury but probably not. I still believe if the states would simply make a clear clarification of water rights and property lines many problems would go away. High water to High water line is Public Property / Public Use such a simple thing to do. As to the actions of people using the rivers that is another problem and only Law Enforcement can solve it but with limited budgets I don't foresee it getting much attention.

I actually night fish a great deal during winter months ( full moon phase ) It is when I catch some of the biggest fish of the year and seldom see another boat but still will run lights. Squabbling over safety issues is like baking a cake and telling people that are starving they cannot have it because its only there for looks. Both are stupid, You Bake a Cake to eat it and You have lights at night for safety Both should be used for the purpose they are made for!

Play around with the stuffings its a lot of fun.... Pineapple, Orange etc are all good ones as is just adding Stove Top stuffing. Wild Rice will really make is good as well. Just no end to the ways to cook game. When people ask me how I cook it I laugh not in a disrespectful way but because I have so many ways to cook it. Just remember NEVER use sage for Dark Meat Birds.

Little Johnny has matured in his Game presence which is scary for opponents to see. No HT for him this year I am sure but the boy is dangerous on field and barring injury he will go high in the draft when he goes in and I cant take that away from him.

The best thing about harvesting your own meat is eating it. I swear over the years I keep playing with ways to cook a goose and not have a smile on my face during the preparation and after the meal. It is so rewarding being able to feed my family and when my wife smiles it is worth it all. So on to this Dinner. First thing you want to do is take a knife and insert it in the middle of the beast and cut it at an angle making sure not to slice through it anyplace. Then take the knife and turn it upright to help spread the meat. Next is insert Picante Sauce (I use Pace medium) in the meat packing it full. The more the better To seal it in use toothpicks Place in a baking bag be sure to cut the toothpicks so they cannot pop the bag Cook for 45 minutes at 350 Finally serve and enjoy The taters are simply coated with Paprika and Pepper and Chives. The Asparagus is covered in a Honey Sauce. 1/4 stick butter 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ginger 1/2 cup Honey Heat in microwave for 1 minute on full and stir for a minute keep stirring as you pour on.

Lights on at night period end of subject if you do not have them on you are _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and if you by not having them on cause the harm or death of another boater you disserve all the civil and criminal charges possible. There is no excuse in this world for not turning on the lights for safety. Personally that is one of the few activities that should be an instant removal of boating privileges and loss of drivers license and if children are involved Child endangerment charges. I have seen several bad wrecks because someone didn't want to run them including a fatality all because someone didn't want to flip a switch and ignored safety laws. I myself have almost ran into a few people because of it and it is the one certain violation I will always call the sheriff about.

I cut my teeth on swim baits back in the BIG BASS daysof the 80's early 90's and they have thier place. On lakes with large Florida strain bass that get stocking of trout the big 8 to 14 inch swim baits are very effective. On lakes that have Northern Strain or Smallmouth bass a swim bait still can be used but must be scaled down to match the size of baitfish present in the lake, that typically means 3 to 6 inches maximum. They also are best used in late fall through spring. Lakes with Striper and Walleye populations of decent size they can also be employed with a good degree of success. Again the key is matching the baitfish size and for our lakes Bull, Norfork, Beaver and Tablerock I look to sizes of 5 to 10 inches with a more slim profile. In casting many people make the mistake to run them way to fast. The best retrieve is slow steady and prefferably on top water making a small disturbance. Also many primary hits will be a miss and the angler needs to learn to not set the hook right away unless the fish is on, if its a miss a couple slight twitches usally produce a more violent second bite that connects with the fish.

That boat course you speak of MOST of the younger boaters MUST have it now went in to effect 1-1-1 and anyone born after 1985 has to have it so Any Boater 28 or younger must have it AGFC and in 1984 Mo. It doesn't work they forget everything they learned as soon as they are done. Perhaps forcing them to take a minimum 1 day on the water class might help but I doubt it. The only way to get the message across is Heavy Enforcement and Stiff Penalties! I see these idiots make the simplest of errors, Putting a trailer so far in the water they fight it for an hour. coming to close to other boaters, passing the wrong side, not paying attention to their wake, the list goes on and on. Thank god this was the last big hurrah weekend!

My "Holy Grail" spot for the lake is this forum and specifically reviewing RPS reports before going when it comes to walleye or Bablers reports for General Fish. I kid you not either of their New and Old reports is worth more to me than any one spot could ever be. Both give you a good idea from reading years past a pattern the fish should be in and the places to look. One thing about this forum that is so different than many others, is the reports are accurate, honest and insightful. The guys making them know the lake from a lot of trial and error and enjoy helping others get fish. From RPS last reports I would be hitting the White River Arm and working it over pretty hard from Houseman to Holiday Island marina, I would be trolling from 12 to 25fow or spooning timber maybe even dropping minnows down on it or pulling a crawler. That information is rare to find and if its coming from RPS its golden and should be listened too.
