Some simple 5MPH or even 10mph zones on the lake say within 150 yards of shore and in river arms would go a long way.

Yes Yes No I have Wrench I try to fish in the early morning or later afternoon evening but it seems more and more the knuckleheads are launching earlier and staying later. I try to fish areas away from the crowds and people doing the stupidity in their boats but have found its getting to be wourse each time out, or more to the point dangerous. I do not begrudge anyone to be on the water and enjoy a day. My problem is people who by their actions are making it dangerous on the waters. We do have laws and rules for safety but when people get on the water just like is being discussed in other threads, people seem to loose their fricken minds and think its a free for all to do as they wish.

Sorry Jerry but I to have to disagree with you, IT IS ALL OUR WATERS! People need to learn respect from the Tourny fishermen to the Pleasure boaters, so that being said we do have a right to gripe and I will welcom new laws and STRICT enforcement. I have been swamped 3 times this year and dam near ran over several tubers and skiers when their pilot cut in front of me. I slow down every time I come up on them but how are you to pass legally when they are cutting that legal option off?

Two Children Electrocuted At Lake Of The Ozarks
Feathers and Fins replied to Stoneroller's topic in General Chat
I wish all states would go to at least 2006 IBC code and the Docks on Laked inspected each year as part ot the agreement to allow them on the lake at the fdock owners expense and certified. -

Al, many of the problems we are talking about appear to be people behavior and we already have laws on the books that can be enforced without additional training or officers. Drunk in public, nudity, littering etc are already laws. A officer just as part of his normal patrol duty could easily drive up to the access points and write tickets for those and if a few officers are doing it the word will get out and decrease some of the behavior. Weekends increase the patrols and have one officer actually on the rivers. or a saturation patrol (not broadcast to where and when by the media ) Man that is the most self defeeting thing ever telling people where they will be and when, kinda like sobriety check points they broadcast the day before the checkpoint. Most of what I see and what I have read about are minor problems but in large numbers become MAJOR problems, if the officers would just make a show up each day word of mouth will spread and the problems will either leave, find a new place or stop. If it is being done at each place then the moving on groups will stop or stop comming. The pollution problem is another issue but one I beleive anglers could help in reporting things they see to the DNR's. -
How Often Do You Go Fishing?
Feathers and Fins replied to Al Agnew's topic in General Angling Discussion
Depends on the year and work load,I carry a flypole in my truck at all times and if i have a couple hours between appointments I will stop off, weekends I get 1 day at least and if off by 3 durring the longer days I will go after work. I average 150 days a year of anywhere from a full day to 2 hours of a day for fishing. It is amazing how a bad day can turn into a great day with just 2 hours even if I catch nothing. Fishing really is the greatest cure for many things. -

Al, your arguements might hold water with me if it isnt for what I see very often, I will give you two examples, 1. little sugar creek, people partying on it playing in the water and drinking, yet within eye sight on US71 there are two State troopers and a couple Bella Vista police officers running speed traps. 4 officers running a speed trap while within eyesight is tata's flopping where you can see them from the road and beer flowing. 2. Hwy Patrol and Sherriff running again speed traps on US71 near titpon ford access and yet again on the river the same thing going on as above. It makes it very difficult for me to want to pay for more officers and have another fee placed on my life when I see crap like that. I would bet other people see that going on as well. And ya kinda got to agree with Chief about the landowner stuff too. If its going to be a tax or user fee it would have to apply to everyone the same. -

Al, I love the resources as a whole besides buying lifetime license in the 4 states I have lived and being a member of conservation groups I also pay my taxes my boat fee’s ACE entry fees and so on. Why should I be asked to do anymore or any of us on here to do anymore in the way of fees? Look how many people here don’t like the idea and you think when people who do love the resource are against it you will get the ones who are trashing it to agree to it? That pig don’t fly! Yes our waters need to be taken care of yes I agree it needs to be preemptive instead of reactive, but a tax or user fee is not the answer, not to mention as I said before the enforcement issues. People who live on the river and own the bottom of it at least would be impossible to force on them on their own land a new tax or fee. This thing if not dead from the start would die as soon as the media got hold of it and those people who trash the waters raise all heck! We already have the clean water act, we have laws against drunken in public and nudity in public and littering, I hear stories about 30 and 40 years ago and how nice it was back then. So what has changed in those years? Find what’s changed and we might be able to come up with common sense solutions. It is not about just the floats but our lakes as well, all the waters need to be protected! And the problem is present on all of them look at the post about all of them on here. I can tell you most of the problems I see are lack of respect for others and common decency to others. You can place any tax or user fee on it all you want but until people learn to be decent to others and respectful to others it won’t matter what you do it will still come down to someone enforcing the law! And as I have pointed out before, we already have them on the payroll and we already pay for them! Why should I pay another tax/fee for a service I am already paying for? -

Are these rivers and creeks not in the jurisdiction of the county the state and even within the cities they flow through? Do those not already have law enforcement on their payroll? Should they not recieve the same protection a Street or Park does by those same officers? How do you enforce a tax on the liveries fairly when their are private citizens who own canoes and other floating objects who will not be taxed? How do you enforce it on people who own the land ajoining the river who have those same floating objects? What about out-of -state people who come in with their floating objects? No the solution is not an UNFAIR TAX on these business's. Some of these floaters come from around the Nation they save up all year for a vacation, others from the big cities who do not live here but none the less come, how can anyone expect ENFORCEMENT of any law without OFFICERS out ENFORCING the law? Nice thoughts but they dont just come out of thin air, and a new tax is not going to be the solution. Say this tax went through and raises a few million a year, Buy the time the lieatitions get done with it the money will be earmarked all over the place again leaving the very thing it was started to protect unprotected. I say the solution is raising all heck with the local goverments to the point that those creeks rivers and streams are patroled the same as the Streets highways and parks. The money is there the officers are there and all it would require is forcing the issue to those elected officials. -

Hank I dont know Justin from Jack, but I think you are being to harsh on him, he has no control over the people that act that way. He cant tell them what to do anymore than you can. The only ones that can is LEO. He has to make a living just like anyone. I can tell you of a place in FL that was known for the behavior you are against. Enough people in the county made a big enough stink and it was stopped by the Law being out there, two weeks of heavy patrol and citations not warning written stopped it fast. Now the place is much better and its because the PEOPLE who party there enforce a RESPECT code on eachother as they dont want the green jeans squad back out there. -

Justin, I lived in Lakewood Park. Fished Oslo road many times also had a key to the Saint Lucie Mosquito impoundment roads. If you remember the area very well Taylor creek at the 25th st bridge is where i liked to catch tarpon. Big mud, and little mud creeks also. -
Numbers Of Fish Caught...
Feathers and Fins replied to dennis boatman's topic in General Angling Discussion
Laker I have my grandfathers logs and to be honest the detail he kept them its more like reading a book each time I do. Lots of memories in them and I hope to pass his and mine on to my grandkids some day. Something about an old leather bound book of stories of friends and family who caught what and who got sunburn to even little places to eat on the way. He kept a detailed book more than journal I tresure. -

Lord this all sounds like the same thing I have said on other threads, enforcement is the key and if enough complaints got registered then enforcement would be forced to act. Instead of taxing people ( think thats done enough and to death ) how about raising all heck with the city and county to the point they actually do send out the law. Its not about Bass or Trout or Blugill or floaters swimmers etc its about RESPECT for others! If the behavior went on on Upper Taneycomo I can promise MDC would be all over it and stop it fast. We dont need another tax we need people to either learn respect for others or face heavy fines. -
I cant tell you from being out there but my logs all point to Prairie Creek area and Rocky Branch Areas as good spots in 27 to 38FOW... for striper whites hybrids.... Cats are in 15 to 25 daytime and moving onto flats in the evening in 6 to 10 fow.

The Pass is a interesting place, I did it and quickly found something even funner in the Pass than the tarpon, the snapper and grouper fishing in it is spectacular my best Mangrove snapper 12.2 pnds came from it. Next time you get the chance try the snapper/grouper fishing. Spinner sharks are another treat to the pass. -

LOL I blame my granfather for making me a counter! He taught me detailed logs of Numbers, Species, Time of day, Water temps and so on. Gotta say though after years of doing it I have a better picture of where and when to hunt and fish. -

Hadsome fantastic days this year including a 100+ day. I think i turned a few members here onto that bite and they had great days as well.... If you get in the whites or hybrids when they want to eat its not hard to pull that 100 day... But then my launch time is O dark thirty and im home after dark as well. -
Freshwater Tarpon.
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in General Angling Discussion
Rainbow; 40 is the kill point for them... yes they do live in freshwater I have caught them in creeks and small ponds Loxahatchee, Taylor Creek the Miami Canal etc are examples plus other small ponds that can be accessed through canals. So for them to have a chance up here it would almost certainly be a warm water lake. http://myfwc.com/research/saltwater/tarpon/information/facts/ http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/Gallery/Descript/Tarpon/Tarpon.html I can say this from living in FL, the freshwater tarpon spots were highly guarded and seldom discussed as when you had a spot like that it was like a kid in a candy store. I had one spot in Saint Lucie County that had them year round in a small pond they were not huge by any means biggest was maybe 50lbs but when the shiners ran through it well it was something to see. -

Here is my concern, why are you wanting to limit business men and restrict them and force more regulations on them? You dont think JOE B will go buy a canoe or a raft or inner tube and just float anyway. I hate the idea of hurting small business that without those very people might themselves be out of business. Bad Idea to regulate the livery's, Bad Idea to tax them more. If you are serious about it the only way to be fair and honest is require everyone who uses the river to buy a three dollar river enjoyment stamp.. See how well that goes over. But dont harm our small business's. -

Could there be more enforcement certainly there can, Using Beaver as an example. If each PD that borders the lake had 1 more officer and a patrol boat and assign 2 sheriff's from each county and 1 warden there would be at least 10 officers on the lake each day. 10 officers that we already have and already are paid for by taxes. If you look at any waterway you could easily see that its possible. It is a matter of priority and lake are low on that list. -
