Randy, Academy in Rogers has alot of props for trolling motors ( electric I assume ) if metal try calling Wolf Marine in Rogers they had a bunch in stock last i checked. Im not going to tell you what lake is wide open for striper and walleye but if you guess right it would make for a perfect stop on your way home with your boat.

Possession And The Law
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in General Angling Discussion
Eric i do get it. Heck ive been to Roaring River for a week before and watched the same guy show up get his fish and leave and right back the next day and next and next. Now he may well be eating fish and his family well need them. But if Mr Green Jeans was to see it and then follow him home and do a check and found more than a limit and cite him for it word would get out and it might slow down alot of it.. But thats a perfect world and this is far from it. I couldnt tell you the last time i kept a trout. I even practice C&R on them where its legal I catch them pin them on a bigger rod and release them, and then magically they grow and change species. I swear it was only a 11 inch trout when i put it on the hook but turned into a 4 foot 30lb striper. -

Eric I fish on average of 200 days a year. I paid for my Lifetime license in Mo and AR 1600.00 combined or 8 dollars a trip out by your reasoning for the first year 4 dollars a trip after the second year 2 bucks a year after the 4th year and im on my 6th year so 1.33 a year. But those are lifetime hunt fish so take out for the hunting part and im fishing for free! So where do I and all other lifetime license holders fit into your thoughts? -

I dont know Eric, You seem to be putting a lot on a non-native species that is put in our waters for for the very reason to be taken by anglers. Its nice to catch a trophy sized fish sure, but its also not native and wouldnt be here without stocking that is funded by the meat eaters as much as it is by you. But its your choice! -

Eric where I see and understand your point cant say i dont agree with yoru reasoning either, but even buying a license helps support the eaters eating habits. I look at it this way. That 7bucks might well help you catch a trophy someday or catch more fish. I dont see fishing presure getting any lighter in the years to come. So are you going to boycot fishing completely? A special C&R license would be nice maybe half the cost but that aint ever going to happen... -
Ive been thinking about it for awhile now. Read an article on a forum from CA about the holdovers and I had forgot how good summer fishing could be for trout in lakes. I just have to think there are a few in TR

Hog you have to in certain areas. You need to get the MDC fighing regs its in there. Just way to much to cut n paste for here. Its part of why I bought my Lifetime when i lived there. $600.00 got me Resident Small Game Hunting Permit, Migratory Bird Hunting Permit and Conservation Order Permit. For fish, frogs, mussels, clams, turtles, crayfish and live bait. To possess trout, except in trout parks where a daily trout fishing tag is required.A Trout Permit is required for all winter fishing in trout parks and for all fishingyear ’round in Lake Taneycomo upstream from the U.S. Highway 65 bridge. Must also have a fishing permit or qualify for an exemption It saves me: 173.00 a year as i would be buying non-resident now -

Nope he would still be allowed to fish. The chart key is on (A) A= Regardless of where taken, the head, tail and skin must remain attached to all fish for which length limits are established while on the waters (or banks) to which the length limit apply. (G) does not apply to the current river G=You must stop fishing for all species when you have four trout in possession. Interestingly a Trout Permit is not required to fish there either according the the regs key card. Like I said you have to read the regs for each area you fish for the specific regulations. -
1123.80 and looks like a little more rain this afternoon and evening and tomorrow morning.. whoooo hooooo looks like i might win the poll

Trophy Hunter Vs Big Numbers Of Fish
Feathers and Fins replied to Mitch f's topic in Smallmouth Talk
I have enjoyed reading these posts; perhaps I should explain my idea of a trophy fish. As I told Duane the other day I get as much a kick out of catching a wild born 4 inch rainbow then a 10lb bass. A trophy to me is not the biggest or most weighty fish but something unique! That wild trout means so much to me knowing its odds of surviving an egg to become a fish let alone its struggle to get bigger. I also love catching the biggest fish around, but on line that puts every element possible to the advantage of the fish once hooked. Hence Light line for targeting them. I love the trophy size as much as the trophy beauty of the little trout. The trophy size fish is a trophy because of its power and the only way to experience that power is IMO to go light on line. I want to feel the run and the head and tail shakes to feel the weight of the fish pulling against the line and see the wakes and swirls on the surface as it fight. A trophy can be big or small depending on the angler. Beauty is as much a trophy as size. -

Like I said it would be nice for MDC to clear it up. But like alot of the regs you have to read the entire book to find out you might be in violation of one part from another part. Eric without looking up the specific regs for that area i dont know Kayser thats the way it reads. -

Na Ollie just had a few people asking question awhile back so i did some reading this morning and figured i would post it up. actually another thread reminded me of it. Posted here and called the guys who were asking about it. You really have to read all the regs and take them as a whole, Like the trout deal you have to stop fishing after you have a limit. or the culling if not in a tournament. I wish the MDC would just make a simple one paragraph law for all species. -
Possession And The Law
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in General Angling Discussion
Hog I respectfully must point out that indeed to continue fishing for species after a limit is taken is in clear violation of the regulation is certain areas and why I posted to check the regulations. Please remember there are very clear regulations for certain areas and after certain species are kept. -
From the MDC regulation Book: Keep in mind if you are fishing and have a limit of (5) or whatever the limit is. To take another fish of that species limit would be over limit by definition of “possessed / possession.” The only exception to this rule is for black bass tournaments as shown above. From September to June only. Some area regulation also require and angler to stop fishing once a limit has been attained altogether. Check the regulations for the water you are on for specific information.

I had this problem awhile back on a boat brand new out of the dealer. When i got home i filled it back up and took a light to it and could see a film on the water that appeared to be oilish. I drained the tank and wiped it down and sure enough a oily residue was on the towel. No clue how it got there but suspected it was in the building of the boat. Cleaned the tank out real good several times and problem solved. Unless you are tournament fishing you should not be using the livewell to keep fish alive in it, an ice chest is where they belong. Catch n Release means releasing them after catching. Catch and keep means your going to eat them and to maintain the meat gutting them and iceing them is the best way to preserve meat. Any fish you catch is included in your daily limit unless you release it unharmed immediately. You may not replace smaller fish in your possession with larger ones caught later. You need to make a keep-or-release decision as soon as the fish is caught. There is one exception: If, from September through June, you are a participant in a bona fide catch-and-release black bass tournament (one after which all bass are released alive), which requires entrants to have a boat livewell with adequate capacity and a pump constantly adding fresh or recirculating water, the black bass you release unharmed from the livewell need not be included in your daily limit. At no time may the daily limit be exceeded.

Top water i dont think anything is more fun then the attack on top water be it bluegill to marlin.

Ran down to PC this afternoon to Blue Sky and nice conditions. Interesting I saw a striper guide boat out there. The creek is running pretty good and sending mud out on to the flat but not much past it. It isnt even reaching the first boat house yet. I did see some surface feeding activity around the old dirt road (probably bass) as there were some shad flipping. My guess on catfishing is possible but unlikely. Bass will probably be a better bet and come this weekend stripers and walleye as the water clears. The moving water out of the creek should spur them into biting.

Pro's And Con's Of Different Line Types?
Feathers and Fins replied to Haris122's topic in General Angling Discussion
I have used it all I suppose. The line I now use religiously is fluorocarbon! From the Ocean to the smallest creeks it has proven to me its flexibility and versatility. The heaviest line I use is 20lbs and that is for tarpon. The lightest is 2lb for trout. I primarily fish lakes for stripers and all striper rods are set-up with 12lb. I can cast a live bait long distances with it or drift slowly with it. I can throw the A-rig with it and jerk-bait it. I carry one rod loaded with 12lb on a surf rod for casting a large top-water baits and one set with 10lb for smaller top-water. There is no need to go any larger in our lakes then 12lb test I have landed 2lb bass to 40lb stripers on it. The 20lb I have landed tarpon up to 150lbs with it. If the drag is set right and the angler knows how to play a fish it’s very affective. The downside is fishing heavy cover you may lose a few lures and maybe a fish or need to change it out more often but you will get bit more often and it is IMO a lot more fun to play a fish then water-ski it across water or pull it out so hard it looks like a Polaris missile coming out of water. I truly believe people have forgot how to fight a fish and enjoy the power of the fish and are more interested in yanking them out of water. Where is the fun in that? 65lb braid against any bass, trout or striper is really not that fun and only the biggest blues or flatheads can actually match-up to that size line. Just my 2 cents. -
Not sure but that would sure be an interesting fish to have in the lake.

Dont bet on it Wrench, I never thought I would see a day that a rat stopped sub-divisions or commercial development but it happened. I have seen tortouses stop them as well. Cash doesnt always talk when it comes to an endangered species or threatened one.
