Agreed OTF, Looking across the Country though is interesting already. If I was asked to pick the top 4 this year it would go to Oregon, LSU, Bama and Boise St. Oregon will probably beat up all its opponents but not the toughest schedule. LSU and Bama have the SEC to deal with but with AJ and his experience and calm I give Bama the slight edge. I want to comment further on AJ, He looked like a Pro-QB this last weekend, calm cool collected and a leader, I hate Bama during season and seeing them loose makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside but AJ is one of those rare QB's that you know is something special and can win any game at any time. This may well be the year we finally get to see BAMA v Oregon in the NCG. But if that happens and Oregon looses fans will always say it was not under CHIPPER though. Boise always a threat just wish they would loose the ugly field it makes watching them tough on my eyes.

Fully agree AA needs in all scouting reports say he is a fire looking to burn opponents.

Ducky, the cold done gone to your head... IF you edumicate them they will know better than to come to you when you get back.

Looks good. Marty ever tried putting bacon in with the smoke to get the bacon flavor?
-
Marty yesterday we didn't even see a bird of any species for a long time, Finally an Osprey came in and showed us how to catch bait. Weird year but the fat layer on the teal was unreal.

Federal Hatcheries Closing?
Feathers and Fins replied to kjackson's topic in General Angling Discussion
Al, the United States does not have any "Balanced Budget Requirement or Law for the Fed"! Until there is a Constitutional requirement for that it will not happen. All the talk about government shut-down is a smoke and mirror game for politicians trying to gain money for PORK! That being said we cannot nor should not cut military spending as it "IS" a requirement by law of our Constitution that the Government provide " for the common defense" If people would actually read the Constitution they would see what is mandated to be "Provided for by our government" and their is not one single word in there about " Housing, Food, Recreation, Phones, Health Care etc" all AKA "Entitlements" In fact the Constitution says only LIFE, LIBERTY and the pursuit of Happiness! It is impossible to account for all the money the Federal Government spends " IMPOSSIBLE"! We need 2 things a ( Balanced Budget Law and a Spending accountability law ) Both of those would help control the Feds spending. " I SAID HELP not control " Entitlement programs a year are estimated (depending on sources and there are many) to be around 2 to 5 Trillion a year Foreign spending (again depending on source) is 2 to 7 Trillion and Illegal immigration is estimated between 1 and 3 trillion! That should make every American furious to see that not one source including the Fed can tell us how much is spent each year. I am certain every person who can read this post can tell us how much their Family spends each year and each business owner can tell us as well to the penny! The fed needs to be brought under control it is out of hand and actually more of a Monarchy than a Representative Government. Term limits are going to be required to do this and a constitutional law requiring That NO ONE can ever be exempted from any laws made. I have been watching Healthcare and seeing Unions, Big Business and Government exemptions made makes me see red. My Family will be paying because of this law an additional 2200.00 a year for health insurance! Yet Obama is giving out exemptions and it is my money and others now paying so everyone can have it! That 2200 is only 323.00 less than last years entire payments for us why did it go up almost100% and we kept the exact same policy? Ok I need to get ready for work so some lazy POS can have health-care, food stamps- hud housing and lets not forget the Obama-Phone. -
What you mean Mizz is the only undefeated team?

Had a nice morning on the lake. Good numbers but high and the stupid "sunrise" rule only allowed for four teal. Had plenty in the decoys and buzzing us before shoot time though. But did see very good numbers all around, found a nice spot for tomorrow Fish bit as well but didn't get in the picture.

ATM defense is weak in the first half if they cannot stop Bama's O-line its over with.
-
Well 6-3 is out of the question now. Maybe 63-3 aTm at this rate.

Here is the issue I have, it is not so much in other college sports but football. Because of NFL regulations it forces the kids to go to school or be of "age" that is horse crap pure and simple! A GOOD Baseball or Basketball player could be scooped up and go pro fast. The schools are making MILLIONS off football and with the NFL Rules actually takes at minimum 3 to 4 years of their monetary gain out of their career. I say let them make money on endorsements or bobble heads or whatever if they can. If the grades suffer then kick them out.

Wayne I am with you on the love of college ball, and certainly with you on teams should earn the appearance not just get it because of one big game or my pet peeve the light schedule. Problem with that is if the NCAA / BCS was to go off strength of schedule it would be the SEC in every bowl and someone to beat! I know how SEC HOMER that sounds but look at the bowls already that pretty much the way it is. There are only so many talented players out there and SEC teams are a vacuum cleaner for them. That leads me to the money aspect, there is no way to keep its ugly head out of it, Seriously do you if you are mildly talented want to go to a mediocre D1 or do you want to go to a SEC school or USC or Oregon where you get more air time on Saturday and high profile teams where Pro-scouts really watch you? Would Johnny Football have won the H last year had he been with say Texas Tech or Arkansas State, I seriously doubt it. I know and said it but paying players needs to happen as all their thoughts are on the game and that dream of pro-ball and the money that goes with it. I also know it will destroy college ball as we know it today seriously shrinking the D1 to possibly a Farm1 or whatever. I can really only think of about 24 teams anyway that year in year out should be going to bowls or playing for them. Why not go to a 16 game season then playoffs to determine who plays in the NC. Last years NC was a joke, ND really had no competition and Bama destroyed them, Oregon had a harder schedule and could have been a good match or OU, K-state even, I would have loved to have even seen ATM v Bama. There are to many Cinderella chances in the current D1 lets get real and get earned match-ups.

Federal Hatcheries Closing?

With Politicians Salaries, Staff and waivers from having to abide by the laws they force on us would be a start. -
Fishing I don't care in fact I find it funny watching people trying to fish the area I do but cant figure out what im doing. It almost requires being in the boat with me to learn what is going on and how I am doing it. WC and Doc can attest to that lol. So for fishing I will tell people exactly where and on what because its the how that puts them in the boat. Hunting is way different, My brother, Babe, Billet and Ducky always get the straight truth end even gps or google maps as to where but they reciprocate the info Hunting spots should be shared only to people you can trust to respect the spot, not burn it out and that will enjoy it even if they hit it on a sucky day. To many Duck Commanders out there for me to go giving out spots on the net or how to hunt them.

Wayne, most the "fans" I have spoke to think its time to get the NCAA/Roosevelt Administration out of sports period. There needs to be a set of rules and I agree to it but the schools and nation have come a long way since the formation of the NCAA. Players should be making money and though the "education" could be argued to be payment it sure is not the "MILLIONS" of dollars schools make from sports. I believe the rules and regulations need to be geared toward safety and education and nothing more. If athletes can make money so be it but the grades must be maintained and safety must be enforced. I understand fully this will possibly destroy smaller schools programs but if you really look at it honestly how many schools really belong in D1 play? Collegiate sports is BIG BUSINESS and there is no way anyone can say its not and be honest. Especially when you are talking about football where the NFL has rules basically forcing people ( students ) to play in college ball. Also the NCAA needs to be a blind enforcement and compliance organization where each penalty is sanctioned/fined the same way and that way should be toward the player who did it and the staff member involved. For instance you find player (a) was involved in use of performance enhancing drugs then that player should be automatically removed from the team and expelled from the school. If a coach was involved he to is terminated. ( Example only ) But the enforcement needs to be uniform no acceptation's if one school is penalized 1 way all are.
-
The big burden is school has to have known, This looks like a case where the player was acting outside the knowledge probably will amount to not a hill of beans. But if it does it brings back up the one question the NCAA doesn't like and that is player making money off their selves and several attorneys are just waiting to make it a case. Im betting NCAA backs off this one like they have others similar to it.

Cameras are a big waste of time and money, We had a crew working the intercostal waterway and all they did was put tape over their boat numbers pull in range of a dock after watching it a few nights and took paint ball guns out shooting the cameras late at night, They would take the gas, electronics, transducers, basically everything. When they finally got caught the officers said it only took them 5 minutes to strip the boat. Four man team and had it to a science. The docks that didn't get touched all were chain link fence around them with a swing door or Props removed from the boats with a chain and padlock on motor, they ( the thieves ) wanted fast and easy targets and any sign of true preventative measures moved them on.

A predictable coyote is a dead coyote! the quarter was do to it being suicidal. Had one come it and 30 yards when I pulled the trigger I saw an explosion of feather, I wasn't sure how or what happened as the one I was shooting at was on the water, then I realized in front of me about 5 yards out was another teal. Managed to salvage bits and pieces of the breast and leg. #6's at that range make a mess.

LMFAO. Old hunters see the value of light weight and ease, young hunters thing to much with the extra testicle that they loose with age. Less is more rule! I just hope this front hurries up and gets here I got some crappie and walleye to deal with and it would be nice to not spend half a day waiting for a teal or two.
-
Nice pictures as usual Marty, What camera are you using? And here is something to ponder. I am at 8.25 teal. Figure that math out lol.

Yes I Have Justin, Im already hated enough for the side ports on my gun Adding a PM to that would probably get me shot lol.

What Do You Consider To Be A "catch"?
Feathers and Fins replied to John W Kelly's topic in General Angling Discussion
Wouldn't lip it but certainly would tail it, BTW my most hated shark right there lost plenty of Tarpon to them. -
LMAO, Marty, its actually an addiction for me, I love grabbing new loads and running them through guns to see what they do. Most the time its negligible to be truthful on the stationary target. It isn't until I switch to the simulated shot string board that you can really see the dynamics and mechanics of a shotgun shell load. I got my hands on a super high speed camera a few years back and learning the mechanics through it of shot string and shot string effected by wind is real neat.

Factory IC seems to pattern best in just about any gun I have ever shot 20 to 45 yrds. I have patterned hundreds of guns and chokes ( actually a hobby of mine ) As Chris points out its the loads that make the dramatic difference. The best load I have found is Hevi-shot #6 through an IC Choke. At 40yrds it typically puts 18 to 33 pellets on a silhouette of a duck and 28 to 47 on the silhouette of a goose based on a 50'' circle and there is no place a duck or goose can get through the pattern without a hit on them. Removing the typical circle and running the 50 high by 20 ft long butcher paper with a solid swing to simulate shot string shows that the highest percentage of pellets are in the center mass of the swing. This section puts between 4 and 10 pellets on the silo of both ducks and geese. The high velocity loads tested the same way actually show blown out patterns in both testing situations with severely decreased hit on target as few 0 to averaging 2 to 5 on the shot pattern simulation which leads to many cripples and or misses. I know people hate paying for hevishot and don't get me wrong im one of them. But a load that will reach out to 60 yards in #6's and still have the energy to bring down even a Honker says something. Plus it being in #6 means im putting 356 pellets down range vs standard steel loads of bb= 108, 2=187 and 4=288. with 12g 1.50oz. So depending on how much you shoot a year is to if HS price is worth it.. In timber situations where all shots should be under 25yrds then choke plays a more vital role and the more open the better and Briley makes a very good timber choke that patterns at almost 65'' at 25 yards, Problem with that is just that it blows open patterns. In that tight a proximity I still stick with the IC choke but go with the a #3 or 4 Steel shot cheapest possible as any steel should be more than capable of dropping a duck dead at that range. The biggest thing I would encourage people to do is get out and shoot more sporting clays and request the use of Mini's instead of standard skeets as this will improve their shooting dramatically.
