  1. Na Wayne, even on overhangs damage can occur. Not to mention warranty issues on shingles etc etc etc. Its best to keep things off houses. Those units are heavy and snow load can cause damage as well. I know what your talking about and like I said do it on a out structure designed just for them. You could actually put the Battery system in it for transfer to the house keeping all power away from the house incase of an accident. Like I pointed out though there are things people can do right now that will decrease the usage. Cost on some of it is more than many can afford and then the other stuff people are lazy and wont do it. To be honest I see more ( Demand ) caused by all these new sub-division during the summer months because the bone brains cut down all the trees to build the houses. Those old mature tall trees shade would have shaded the houses had they been left and reduced cooling bills.
  2. Hey I use to find dead birds under my gramps windmill all the time. Usually started September 1st for some reason and never found one after January 31st, dangdest thing I ever saw
  3. LOL, Come on out ill be on the lake after 2pm tomorrow, Crappie time maybe walleye. Don't be jealous just start trolling lol
  4. Randy, I did exactly that about a year and half ago. I got rid of all my spinner baits 90% of my cranks and all my plastics except Keitechs. Its made life easier for catching fish. I found the few baits that are constant producers and learned to use them in many circumstances and ways. Now I am not fumbling through the boxes all day trying to find something that works but finding why something is working. ( Is it speed, Is it color, Is it depth ) Its made me a far better fishermen because I stopped blaming the bait and started trying to find where they were at and what retrieve speed they wanted. Whats in my boxes right now? 2 boxes of Flicker Shad, 2 boxes of Keitech, 1 box of rapala SR series, 2 boxes of misc reef runner style baits a box of hooks and a box of weights abd the old bucktail box I will never be without. The culls I actually went to the lake and gave them to kids I saw fishing.
  5. Ya'll bite me.
  6. Wayne anytime you make penetration points in a roof its a leak looking to happen. So installing anything on a roof is never a good idea. I see it daily with sky lights and other installed items. The other problem is the panels require sunlight both the water heating type and power type so you have to have a house situated / orientated to maximize the suns rays. Im all for solar power but to do it it needs to be installed on an out structure not the main living dwelling. Truth is home energy use can be severely cut down by proper building but currently I seldom see inspectors doing it. International Building Code is there for a reason and needs to be used. I would bet each person on this site could save hundreds a year by doing a few simple things. 1. Insure proper insulation in walls, flooring and Attic 2. place duct tape on all joints on ducts 3. Caulk all windows and door and put a door sweep on the doors 4. Replace old appliances 5 Replace old Heating and Air units and Water tanks. 6 And here is the one most people never think about. Everything that is plugged in draws electricity start unplugging stuff when not in use. 7.Finally insure proper home ventilation in the attic. There are many other things but those 7 will save you an unbelievable amount of money.
  7. Directly WEST of the boat ramp. go past the arm on the North and past the boat dock and start scanning to the tip of the point its really cool I love scanning the area. Ill do a google map for ya when i get home tonight if no one else does.
  8. Flicker shad is a great bait one of the best I have come across in years. If you are fishing stained water 2 colors are best ( Black n Gold ) and Black/ Gold Sunset ) Clear water use the pearl white and silver black. Change the hooks out on them though the factory hooks bend and break far to easy. 2 to 2.5 seems to be the speed the bigger walleye have been wanting on Beaver lately.
  9. Don't have time to dive into this completely but from a contractors perspective the only thing that belongs on a roof is shingles, I have seen the damage solar panels and anything else put on roofs cause. The benefits of solar energy do not offset the cost of the damages when they occur. I know they are a viable product but need to be put someplace that will not damage the property. There are so many products available now to make your house environmentally friendly but the cost is high and from most the journals I have read it can range between 10 and 25 years to just break even in compare to non-green building. There is a lot to take in to consideration in those numbers without doubt and it is up to the buyer to make the choice of is it worth it. My suggestion is if the person is in the 30's buying the house and it will be the last place they buy then yes it is worth it as when you hit retirement age you will have broke even and now are saving money and living cheaper. But if you are going to move again don't waste the money.
  10. Al, here is what I want ( this is just me though ). I want News that pertains to my area first ( Local ) second I want News from the ( Region ) and then National News. Let me be specific though. National news should be news about the NATION not some doctor being found guilty of Murder for abortion or some High Speed Pursuit in Cali. Those are Local events and need to stay Local. Even Sandy Hook was a local event and had it stayed that way we would not have gone through the great Gun Grab Scare of 2013. In fact if you look at many of the " National News Stories " they are politically motivated the Dr I mentioned above should have never made national news But here we have it being used to fuel the Abortion Debate! This is not Journalism this is Media influencing Political Agendas! The media is suppose to be unbiased yet clearly covers these type of stories to fuel ratings when they are nothing more than local events. Frustrating when you look at so many events that shouldn't be anything more than local coverage or a mention on the news that are used for politics.
  11. Dam it pouring in Rogers, should see 23 soon and looks like more coming next week maybe get 24 out of her.
  12. Heh Ive said all along show me the proof. I am more upset that a tournament in this day and age with so many resources isn't using them to make dam certain it is fair for all. Just the specter of cheating is harmful. Ray Scotts biggest fear at the first tournament ( Beaver Lake Arkansas ) BTW was cheating. The home of fair play started at Beaver and those that know the history surely would want that to be one of its legacy's. Its a disservice to the community to NOT insure it.
  13. Ok stump and if all of the sudden (and hog im sure can correct me if im wrong ) Say it was discovered the winners were cheating wouldn't that be FELONY FRAUD! That sure wouldn't make the community look good at all. The Chambers job may very well not to run tournaments you can argue but I have an argument back. With BASS FLW and so many other tournaments out there and their rules so readily available why not use them? The only answer I can think of for not putting in the most simplistic of rules to insure fair play is The Chamber Does Not Care! If that's the case then perhaps its time they get out of it period.
  14. I think people have a reason to be up in arms. 15,000.00 First place is not a small prize for your average angler nor is tournament entry fee. 285 boats I beleive entered in the tournament thats what 42,000.00 and change. If the officials even had a reason to beleive anyone not just the winners but anyone has a less than honorable reputation they should never allow them. I look at it this way the odds of winning should be 1 in 285 but if potential cheaters are allowed in the odds are probably more like 0. I would be up in the tournament officials and sponsors faces asking them why would they allow it and everyone in the tourney has that right. People keep saying its fun but I know many guys when they enter a tourney that are in no way there for fun they are there to win! I know many guys myself included who were the most helpful and kind people but put them in compitition and you wouldnt want ot be near them, a switched flips and they are something else. Again I want to see Hard Proof if in this case the guys are black listed from a lakes tournaments and if so then the Anglers and Sponsors need to be in the tournament Officials face demanding to know why they were allowed in this tournament. Hopfully if they are getting the calls they might wake up and make changes for next year.
  15. Without the side scan the best options is zig-zagging tthe boat while trolling. 2 to 4 rods covering 4 diffrent depths 5 10 15 20 combined with the sonar will help weed out the fish. Its really going back to basics of pre fish finders where people trolled and used land bearings to mark fish. Even with GPS and all the fancy stuff today I still mark land bearings more than anything.
  16. I just use Sidescan to find them the marks are very obvious. Then I roll over the top of them and drop Berkley's Depth Charge on them aka Flicker shad.
  17. LMAO.... Give me a ring I will put you right on the Crappie,, My wife keeps telling me she has a Happy Belly from all the Crappie. Made some up last night with Parmesan Cheese and Taco Bell fire sauce and as good as it was I might need to actually start keeping limits.
  18. Last ditch fish huh... Bet the kids wouldn't think so you dang purist.
  19. I hear perch are biting lol
  20. OTF, I am talking about things like the reports out of Sandy Hook and other big stories where they rush for the story and facts be dammed they will say the first thing that comes up out of fear of someone else getting it.. That isn't news its gossip and could harm someone else.
  21. On any normalish year I would say they moved out but this year I would bet on the long shot at the derby just to be safe... But I would bet there is good numbers in the area I suggested, cant imagine why not I cleaned some the other day wit hand some without eggs so we might be seeing the longest spawn in history for the lake because of weather and that should have fish from twin to HSB. Crappie I cleaned last night still had eggs even.
  22. Just went over 412 bridge and its Coffee with Milk added color. I would start looking for whites to be from Hickory Creek to Horshoe Bend by now. GO GET UM.
  23. Not sure how they are running tournaments anymore but when I was fishing them if anyone was disqualified for any reason the director would make it know why and what rule, back then it was by phone call now they could use the net with no problem. Most Disqualifies were not anglers intentionally breaking rules but not knowing off limit areas. Luckily the directors were diligent in trying to ascertain the circumstances. I had a few tourneys where the awards were issued but not the pay-out until the situation could be resolved. One that comes to mind was a guy was fishing inside a NO FISHING BOUY LINE area. The Buoys had broken off in storms several months prior and most people knew about it but the guy who got reported was from out of state and didn’t. Instead of a DQ the director contacted the lake officials and they admitted to not having repaired it. The angler was NOT disqualified as he had no knowledge of it and it was ultimately the lake management’s responsibility to properly maintain the area. The director for other tournaments after that issued maps to all anglers of closed zones so there could be no confusion. Most the rules were safety rules and a good chunk on etiquette and courtesy. Live well checks were mandatory and there was at least 2 spotter boats used and you never knew where they might be or who as the directors wanted people to fully understand they could be watched at all times. That was far more a deterrent to cheating that anything else. I know the directors had them out even in days leading to the tournament as one cheater found out. It would be a good idea for all tournaments to post issues big or small and if a person was DQed or disallowed the reason so other tournament anglers and directors could maintain the integrity of the tournament ant sport jmho.
  24. The local media news are pretty good it seems most of the problems go to the National News Services. I really think its more about being #1 to get headlines then it is about accuracy and truth. They are not held accountable. But now with the IRS, BENGAZI, and the AP wire taps or whatever it really is, WILL things change? Seems a lot of crow being eaten in as much as more and more people are now wondering is the National News covering up and even protecting the current administration? Heard a LOT of talk about it on the net the last few days from all kinds of different places and from ( people) of all different affiliations and walks of life.
  25. Yes I have seen schools like that but never during or in the spawn and that includes Calis big bass lakes they are more occupied with something err more (r-rated) at that size. I would like to see proof they were blackballed on any lake if that is proven then I would want to know the reason if its for anything not ethical then Blackballed from all tournaments would seem in order (aka cheating) and why hasn't this come up before and if it has why are tournament directors allowing them in still. Beaver is a big lake actually and you can be in a cove or arm or any number of places and be on a bite that no one else see's, its possible and top-water has been happening lately. Now this time of year anything over 3lbs I've caught in the last 2 weeks has rubbed flippers. It does seem odd they place that high on a very frequent basis, If they are all "Buddy tournaments" then that adds to it certainly and if they are bringing in beautiful fish in a time of year they should show signs of spawning that also will add to it tack on unusually big bags. But lets have the big question answered first. ARE THEY BLACKBALLED and if yes WHY?
