Bry, i cleaned 1 striper last year with walleye in it 5''size walleye, I caught 13 Bass that spit up walleye parts for 3'' to 5'' and several of the walleye I had last year had parts of walleye in them as well. Of all that Bass I would guess is the primary predator, There was no one time of year they had more or less I only kept note of it because i thought it odd to see bass feeding on walleye, I will state for the record each bass came out of less than 5 feet of water.

Poachers are in the same classification and theifs to me no matter what fish, game, flora anything. I am less worried about giggers or fishermen. I know very few people who release walley they are just to fine a table fish. So long as the science says the stocks are healthy and viable for the limits imposed im happy.

I was suprised how clear it was,5ft at 12 bridge and PC Launch, I went up in PC in the creek and it was crystal clear but as you got out vis went down to about 2fow Montne was stained but no worse than normal, Never could find a mudline either or much debris. Im not sure whats going on. Just nothing anyplace on the sidescan or up and down.

WC and I hit Beaver this afternoon for a bit for a big SKUNK, Did find a massive ball of shad at the 12 bridge, but nothing near them, hit most my favorite walleye spots midlake region working 6fow to 25fow and nothing marking. Very strange day no marks anyplace and a giant shad ball with nothing but birds on it. Might need a few more weeks for Beaver Walley but shad in 0 to 14 ft and over 100 yards long and 20 yards wide and nothing on it had me perplexed

Ive gone down many times when i lived in FL and you are very right, Divers are from my experiance very selective of the target and pick only what they want/need. Guys on the boats easily outfished Divers but Divers were more selective, from the guys I talk to in freshwater they are the same. Boaters will catch more with no doubt but for quality divers will get that win. Diving is not a numbers game its probably the most selective harvest method I can think of as there is no catch and release with it.

Jeff, Not sure on the MO lakes but there was a nice write up about Beavers Walley last year by AGFC, I will see if i can find it. But looks like good reproduction and growth rates. I might go test the waters tomorrow.

Heck i remember our schools with Archery class and Rifle Drill, I dont know of to many schools with those anymore. But its ok to teach Sex Ed, Hand out condoms and discuss homosexuality, and drugs. I keep waiting to hear a "How to file for goverment benifits class" How about we get back to letting teachers in school teach reading, writing, arithmetic, history and science. And let PARENTS teach about the rest, It is not the schools job or duty to be teaching about the family values or the teachers view on politics, AND while were at it throw away NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. If they fail hold them back if they smart off to a teach suspend them the first time the second time toss them out. Hard when a teacher has 28 they can help but 4 are holding the class back.

Hank I will have to strongly disagree with you, It is the curiousity of guns that cause problems, I was raised around them, shooting them very early and even have a picture of me at about 3 with my 22 out with my dad. I was taught what a gun was what it could do and what it was for. If a new gun came in I got to see it and even shoot it. My father could have left 100 guns on a table and never one time would my friends or me pick it up. We just had no care to if it wasnt time to go hunting or shooting. To us there was no mystery about them nothing to be curious about or play. I had a key to the gun safe when i was 12 and would have the guns loaded up in the truck before my dad even got up to go hunting or out to the range but other than when it was time to use them that key was just another key on my chain. But i have read hundreds of reports of kids who didnt know about them that curiousity or fooling around with them caused accidents or deaths. People need to remove the mystery from them, and they need to lock them up, Except for my carry weapon when mine were growing up the guns were in a safe bolts and pins removed and in a seperate safe. I tusted my kids but had no clue what their friends might do. Diffrent world from when i was growing up and most kids hunted.

Drift them, or splitshot 3 feet up depending on depth of the fish on the graph but never sit above the fish, i get more on drift passes than sitting on them.

Doc, Ive just been using brooders because of a few very nice size crappie in the area as well.

White bass just launch at PC motor out to the bluffs across from the ramp and enjoy, they have been there for what seems like ever this year. Striper err that will require a lot of motoring to find the biggest shad balls and fish them and pray. Or if a good mudline has developed find it and zig zag in and out of it.

Yup, I go by when i have time to kill but if i need fishing gear its HLS or BP when im in springfield, Cabelas is just to expensive when the same thing is cheaper a few blocks away.

Ron if its the two old guys im thinking of I can promise you they do catch them and they are using harness's. They turned me on to the area and how last year in return for a striper spot. I went out and nailed my limit in 20 minutes all over 22''. I will say they do not launch anyplace near where thye fish and I have watched them go out of the way to make sure they are not followed. If im in the area and they come in I will bow out to them, true artist at catching Walters they are. Winter time there is a secret to them. 3 to 6 fow in the afternoon when it heats up the flats but you better be contour trolling with planers out and it takes two people one on boat control one on snag and fish duty, I dont enjoy it because of how much work it takes and how many baits you loose but its very effective. When they move out to 8 to 12 fow is when i love it most for trolling, Run the Keitechs and Flickershad behind the boat 100ft. when you get a bite turn around and start throwing jerk baits, keitechs or rattle traps to the area you can normaly get 2 or 3 more from it or more.

Asprin 12. twizzer 13, Razor Blades 14. 10 feet of twine 15. plastic tubing 3ft 16. epi pin 17. electrical tape 18. cotton balls 19. Trash Bags large 20. Water purification tablets. That will get me through a few days if need be. One thing people always seem to say is a snake bite kit. DO NOT waste your money on one they dont work and dont cut someone and suck the venom, I have seen morons do it and then they find out they have a cavity or open cut and become envonomated as well.
