  1. Due to someone who shall remain nameless posting waterfowl food pics I had a craving for some of my own so I got up this morning and shredded some goose fillets for this dish. Step by step Take a medium baking dish and coat the sides and bottoms with Olive oil then slice enough peppers ( Anaheim's ) in this case on the bottom of the dish. Next cover the peppers in cheese, I used Monterey Jack, Four cheese Mexican mix and cream cheese. Slice up enough cherry tomatoes to be about 1/2 inch apart Lightly cover with more cheese and salsa Add in Hamburger and shredded goose ( or just add meat or meats of your choice ) Cover meat with cheese and Cover everything with more peppers Add more cheese over the top of the peppers and bake for 1.5 hours covered with foil at 350. EAT AND ENJOY
  2. ENOUGH ALREADY... THIS MEANS WAR !!! Im thawing goose in retaliation for making me hungry.
  3. I use to Hike in to High Sierra lakes and the lake was just the cherry on the top of the cake. That 5 to 10 mile hike through some of the most beautiful country was the cake. If all you want to do is catch fish go to a pay to play facility if you want to be with nature then those lakes certainly offer it and most times not another soul would be present or seen and you had the woods to yourself and bigfoot.
  4. They have been going for about a week now. A lot of odd things are happening on Beaver right now even reports of big stripers at Horseshoe bend but its reports not confirmed ( yet )
  5. In almost all copperhead deaths I have read about or heard about anaphylactic shock is the cause of death. OP a copperhead has a very fast strike and 3 or 4 times doesn't surprise me one bit and depending where he grabbed the snake and length of time he held it I see no reason it couldn't happen. Best rule of thumb don't mess with things you don't know about.
  6. Wetlines; Bless your heart have you ever thought about fishing on weekdays if you hate the crowds so much. Most of us don't like heavy crowds and cant wait for October but do understand it is what it is and yes people will vent about it and that's fine. You moved here and Branson certainly was no Secret about tourism SO YOU HAD TO KNOW what you were getting in to and truthfully there are more locals MO / AR that use the lakes than tourist from out of the area, so your tourist argument doesn't hold water.
  7. Oh you would fall in love with roller guides. These are the little jewels I'll be ordering http://www.aftco.com/lightweight-roller-guides-1016-prd1.htm
  8. I am a recovered Bass addict I have a support group even lol !!!!! But Randy I am going to be ordering some aftco roller guides I will need wrapped on my casting and trolling rods.
  9. Bill anytime you want me to show you how to clean a gar fast let me know. Pair of tin snips and a sharp fillet knife and its no more difficult that popping a back strap out of a deer and they do taste so good.
  10. That to me is a crime, If you are not going to eat what you kill don't kill it! I understand it for commercial interest and removing envasives but NOT for individuals and Gar is dam fine table fare.
  11. Here is something I have thought about for a while. I believe this country to be one spark from a civil war with how fed up people are with government intrusion in to their lives. Though I don't think this is the spark anymore what would have happened had the Fed taken this to a shooting conflict? My gut tells me it could have been that spark early on and would have escalated beyond that small area. I don't think our government really understands how fed up the people are and just what could happen if a little gas is thrown on a spark.
  12. I bow fish on occasion and anyone who thinks its easy should try it. But lack of respect toward others is never acceptable. Thrill Kill? don't think I get that most the guys I know are doing it for the same reason we fish ( fun ) and they all keep and clean their fish if you see someone not keeping it I suggest reporting that to the DNR as its wanton waste.
  13. so the big question is FLICKER MINNOW... Need pics of them.
  14. Nathan all my trolling rods are 10lb Seagar Fluorocarbon, Doc can attest that they will land big stripers no problem just be sure to set the drag accordingly and play the fish. As to the line twist run a swivel 4ft above the lure will help and defiantly check about every 20 minutes if you are not catching fish, this is also when you should change out to a different color or lure to find what they want. At the end of the day tie on a swivel with a weight to it and let out 100yards of line or more depending how much you have out for trolling and put you boat speed about 5 to 10 mph and run for about 5 minutes.... Then pop the line and swivel off and let the line out and repeat but at a higher speed and it will help reduce to remove line twist.
  15. No Idea about the drop shot but it should work I would think. I honestly haven't targeted bass in a long time but was just in the mood yesterday to do something different and based off Joes report from the prior day felt I had a decent chance to try the Ned and catch a few fish which I had been thinking about for some time. If it hadn't been for his report I probably would have just pulled crawlers and not discovered the good bite on gills and bass.
  16. Most the fish were only 1.5 to 2lbs for bass... the bluegill were hand sized... The wake boats were insane and I didn't start fishing till 4:30pm but im sold on the Ned it catches deep fish. Strangely it didn't produce any walleye the harness did though for a total of 9 walleye explain that one to me a crawler doesn't catch a bass but the ned does in the same area??????
  17. Chicken Little would be scared.... But its a creative way to get the job done.
  18. Your an evil man QB, All your ned-rig talk forced me to pull it out last night on Beaver, 27 bass from 1.5 to a very nice 6lb black fell to it. 20 to 30fow. I was also pulling a harness crawler for walleye and popped a big girl 29 and 1/4'' and all fished were released unharmed. Now what really surprised me about it is how many bluegill would eat the dang thing I felt like a kid again at some points catching them. I talked to Joe ( Jolicious ) and he said he was seeing the same thing on the gills last night. Im liking this rig then again anything that catches bluegill makes me giggle.
  19. Yes they are very good FRESH after fresh the meat turns to mush and taste is gone. But same day or overnight in the fridge then cooked they are very good.
  20. Well he was right about the topwater but I was busy with the Ned-rig and a crawler Harness. Caught a bunch of bass and on purpose even lol
  21. You MUST in Arkansas and most states have a Hunters Ed card ( and have it on you while hunting ) and you would need a hunting license to take any game animals. So you have to have both hunters Ed card and Hunting License. If you carry concealed you better have the permit. If you do not have the permit and get caught and cited you may not be able to get one in the future as it is one of the criteria for disallowing a permit.
  22. I initially supported him based off media reports that the land in question was his ancestral / family property and it was the 1934 taylor act and the formation of the BLM that forced him to pay for what should have been grandfathered in to his family. After researching it for myself I found that neither of those were accurate in this case and that his family ranch was only 160 acres AND there was no legitimate claim to the BLM land by ancestry and that he should have been paying the fees all along. Grazing, Logging and many other actions occur on BLM land daily and I have no problem with it or the fees for doing it when it’s a for profit business using the public’s resource. I also use to hunt and fish on BLM land and was very glad it was there and open for the public. To me this case simply boils down to a guy who is wanting to graze his cattle on public land for free and nothing more. He should pay his fines and fees or face the consequences of his illegal actions
  23. It would depend more on angler confidence in his bait than the bait itself. If a person is confident in one over the other they will go with the one they are confident in. Both will catch fish and both have a place in a tackle box. Heavy cover areas the Gulp can be rigged weedless which would cut down on snags on hard bottom low structure the crawler would be the go to. At the speed walleye anglers troll they both could be likened to a Ned-rig which is a proven catcher. It really depends on the angler and conditions. There has been days I have seen a wart / x-rap / and Flicker out produce Live shad and vise versa. It takes understanding conditions and when to apply what method in order to catch the fish and to have a fly anglers mentality of change to find the bait and pay attention to the smallest details.
  24. Hmmmm, I may need to go investigate this situation tonight sounds like they are begging for a fly rod.
  25. It would be nice if they would learn stealing hubcaps off moving vehicles could hurt them. Even better if they would use the crosswalks that are clearly marked for them
