  1. I spent the day safe at home rigging up for the next trip and thought I would share a few of my rigs. All leaders are 4ft long of 10lb fluorocarbon. Just a simple set up with a 1/0 slow death hook and #2 blade Slow death hook with no blade Harness rig with #1 hooks with bobber stops to slide the front hook as needed and a #2 blade Just another example of a harness Another example Finally you have to have someplace to keep them.
  2. BRAVE MAN to go out that time of day on a holiday weekend... I would suggest if possible getting out more like 4am and fish till 11am you should be a little safer
  3. Don't feel bad Bill, though I stayed home today I will be out tomorrow morning because I know tonight there will be a lot of people up very late and be to hung over to go out first thing in the morning tomorrow ( Learned this trick years ago ). But I live very near the main drags to Beaver Lake from Rogers, Bentonville and Springdale and have heard sirens almost every 15 minutes all day which tells me a lot of stupidity going on. I had to run to the store a little while ago and saw the end all be all of scratching your heads... A Gremlin pulling a Ski Nautic and I could see the Keg in the back of the hatch. I am glad I stayed home and spent the day tying Slow Deaths and Harness rigs.
  4. No the Elites were there pre-spawn so doubt it had any effect on the fishing. The last few weeks has been a funky time on both Beaver and Tablerock from reading the reports. Bass are slow but walleye has been fair to outstanding. Up until 2 weeks ago almost everything I was catching had craws spitting all over my deck now its shad which makes complete since as the fish has been shallow ( under 20 fow ) now they are from 20 to 30 and so is are the shad.
  5. Unless your a BV POA Member or know someone that aint happening..... Close to Pea Ridge would be Beaver Lake and in Missouri Roaring River
  6. Thank God I just had grilled walleye or my butt would be thawing out some duck that looks good.
  7. And it was good Real simple. Cedar Plank, brushed with Olive Oil, put Anaheim pepper and banana pepper on it. Make an Olive Oil and Bourbon baste with fresh garlic, onion, parsley, chives salt and pepper and lemon. Brush on the walleye and cook on the grill .
  8. Pink and White beads. #2 red fire tiger blades
  9. QB I usually pick one a week till I get the flavor im after and then when I get it pull them all. Onions can be fickle creatures and I think our zone takes them about 3 to 4 weeks more to get where they should be.
  10. I made a promise years back to help others catch fish and teach when I can. Its one reason I have the FB page about Beaver Lake and fortunately more and more people are sharing with me the info for the reports. If I help one dad get a kid fishing or get one person who lost the love of fishing back in to it then I kept my promise.
  11. Pics loaded As to the spot this is one of the few times im not telling they are in a small area and a bunch of them so im going to be greedy.
  12. Me with 1 WC with a walter WC with a nice white
  13. So far ( knock on wood, rub rabbits foot, find four leaf clover ) the green things haven't been an issue this year. Even better is the seeing the many different size walleye from 8'' to almost 30'' bodes well for a continuing and improving fishery for them.
  14. It’s been a while since WC and I had a chance to fish together but we managed to get out last night. It was one of those special nights the fish wanted to bite to the tune of 15 walleye 2 whites 1 bass and a perch. We got out at 5pm and fished till 9pm using crawler harnesses. The special thing was the walleye were in large pods of fish and you could see them come up from the bottom and take the bait on the sonar, every fish caught last night I watched come up, follow and take the bait on the unit except the perch I think it was a stealth perch. Water temp was 82 and the fish were in 20 to 30fow speed was .3 to .7mph. pics to follow
  15. 1st thing I would do is find him perch to catch, nothing will keep a kids attention better and I will say till the day I die God created them to get kids in fishing. 2nd is use bobbers it is a visual stimulus to keep a kid interested. 3rd when he has had enough its time to go home or ask him what he would like to do. Biggest mistake I have seen with parents was keeping a kid out to long. Sounds like you have him started off good. What RPS said for rigs is perfect for a youth starting out. Take lots of pictures they grow up way to fast. The last suggestion is take him to Taney for trout he will be able to see them and many times see the take and that will really get a kid hooked and its a beautiful place for the entire family.
  16. 24 night crawlers tonight caught 15 walleye, 2 whites, 1 bass and a perch we had ( 5 ) defective night crawlers that must have been suicide bombers because when they came up they were blown in half.
  17. 20 for 21 aint bad especially if you can catch two or three per bait. I may have to look in to them.
  18. Ive tried it and has not worked for me. Black or Purple spinner baits do and so does Black road runner style baits. I honestly think though I made the mistake of staying to deep and should have been running much shallower with the flickers and that will be my next project.
  19. Just looked them up $20.00 ??? wow.
  20. Trokar hooks are what I switch out to, I am still playing with another style of hook for near timber and other heavy snags and its promising but I don't want to say to much till I get the size down perfect. The factory hooks are sharp no doubt and will keep a fish on but I have seen them fail and if hooked real good they bend way to easy working it out with needle nose which I do not like one bit. If you are fishing for stripers its a no brainer to have good solid hooks on.
  21. I can see that on messing with crawlers for certain they are not my favorite live bait for sure and tend to attract green fish.
  22. Good looking trio Randy. PD why don't you like bouncing?
  23. Been a great weekend for the walleye guys.
  24. Those are Anaheim's, Bananas and Jalapenos stuffed full of Cream cheese, Mozzarella cheese, Extra sharp cheddar cheese and Grated parmesan cheese. The walleye is sprinkled with Purple,Red,Yellow and Green bellpepper and some onion with lemon peel and pepper. Simple but awesome.
  25. Now that looks like a meal I will have to try
