  1. I don't see why not. Just mount the rig so it is not in the way of the controls. I am more concerned on 150 for a spider rig though. Are you talking the mount or mount and rods?
  2. I have... He offended many people by admitting to releasing a legal walleye lol
  3. I know they did, I made a couple this morning and don't see them now.
  4. Bobby Garland baby shad in white
  5. Your report did it. 58 cold end means crappie and whites in the mid section. Truthfully I had all intentions of going up river but that report stopped me dead in my tracks and put me where I went. Knowing the lake and how the water temps and wind affects the fish in each zone of it is key and when you posted 58 I had a very big smile on my face. I did see walleye on the aqua-vu but they were in no way biting. I used the spider rig to circle several areas of structure they were on but couldn't get them to go. Really need to hit 64 for them to get aggressive on lures so by next weekend I would bet on them.
  6. Duane; that is the Mr Crappie spider rig, light weight plastic and fully adjustable it was the best of all the brands I looked at for easy of installation and adjustability. Academy is where I got it. The only negative is the rod holder adjusting lock system sucked so I just took it off and used the screw on it, really don't know what they were thinking adding a ( quick lock ) when the screw system already on it was perfect.
  7. I had all intentions of going up river this weekend but with reports of 58 degree temps in Clifty area my plans were changed with just reading that one report. Years have taught me that temperature means the crappie and whites will be in the 12 bridge area. I launched out of Prairie Creek at 7:20 ( wanted to miss the tournament launch ) I went straight to the islands and started marking fish from 5fow to 30fow, on brush and on the flats and Basin area. I trolled flicker shad for a bit in #6 and #7 Pearl White and picked off whites at a rather nice pace from 14 to 17 inch size in the Basin area's ( Basins are the center flat between 12 bridge and the first island and the second island and the west bluffs ) After I played with them for a while I started working back over brush piles with Bobby Garland baby shad in white and found the crappie more than willing to bite. Spider rigging at .3mph was the perfect speed with lines set at 15, 12, 11, 9 fow along with casting the jigs past brush and slow swimming it over the tops. I had enough for dinner and decided to try spider rigging for whites just for giggles. A word of warning when 4 10lb hybrids hit all 4 lines at one time it becomes very interesting . That little interesting experience taught me to stop ( insert dirty word here ) with fish that are way to big for that method of fishing. I pulled out the little white spoon ( Basspro XPS ) and preceded to abuse the hybrids for the trouble they gave me. just and FYI Hook Line and Sinker in Rogers is now carrying the spoons ( thanks AJ ). It was a great day my arms are soar and plenty of fish for the table tomorrow.
  8. Massive school of whites and hybrids at 12 bridge also some outstanding crappie action. after I cool down ill post a full report.
  9. War Eagle is not exactly a fishing boat, they can be used for it but they are a Duck Hunting Machine and that is where they outshine any other boat. They are the Battleships of Bayou Meto, Big Lake, Seven Devils and such. I hope you were not looking at one and wanting it for fishing Beaver in the same comfort level of Ranger, Tracker or others.
  10. If anyone knows a lawyer who likes to hunt and fish they could use Executive Order 13443 to possibly put an end to this. All you would have to do is prove the ramp is used for launching a boat for hunting and then the ACE would be in violation of the order. Im just saying there is a way.
  11. 58 Hmmmmmm I know where I will be looking for walleye and crappie then if the cold end is that warm.
  12. My guess would be 1. Up river 2. Prairie Creek 3. Rocky Branch 4. In the water laughing at us.
  13. What the two guys above said.
  14. Have I told you recently YOU SUCK lol.
  15. Yes like a Gate is going to stop a thief, just like more gun control will stop a murder or thief. I have seen thieves steal copper from guarded construction sites and hasn't there been a video the last week on the news of one who broke in to a house and got caught in the babies room. When will the government officials on all levels understand punishing the country for the acts of a few is stupid and never ever works to prevent the crimes.
  16. Ignore clifty and thing Cedar Creek seems the men in striped suits are in there
  17. My two cents for what its worth... I am betting the little monsters have been running up between cold fronts and doing their thing in groups in stead of one massive run. I base it off the fact I have been seeing whites of varying sizes back down river again so made me think some have done the nasty some are doing it and some are still getting ready too. Joe, I bet I can hit you with a shad from 50 ft at least lol.
  18. Its a good bag and win on a very tough lake. Next year I would like to see better coverage, a bigger expo ( more vendors ) no fishing in PC or Avoca. I am still lost why there is not more coverage and hype about this event, the news did report over a million in generate revenue but I suspect its more than that and could be much more. Heck they never mentioned the winning wait on 4029 that I saw and the expo coverage was seriously lacking. This is a major event for our area, But the LPGA doesn't seem to get good coverage either Im just scratching my head why not.
  19. Makes since fish the most heavily stocked area of the lake then try and go find a few culls.... Personally I think PC and Avoca should be off limits to all tournaments for fishing.
  20. If it hadn't been for Nick and his tip I would have probably called it an early day the wind was brutal, but I know a few spots upriver that are semi-protected and it sounded like fish were there so I went. I am glad it paid off OAF members helping each other out.
  21. Get a grinder and run the meat through it about 6 to 10 times depending on size of the carp. You can make a cocktail with it, fish tacos or even hamburger. They are also extremely good baked.
  22. Nice report, if the tails were being bit off two culprits are typically responsible at least on Beaver ( Walleye and Whites ) I have put stingers in them when it happens and typically get rewarded with a walleye dinner.
  23. I noticed media coverage of it seems to be off as well, seems in years past we knew who was in the lead and what was going on more, now its just FLW is on Beaver Lake this week and there is an expo this weekend. You would think an event like this that brings in so much money to the area would be reported on better. Heck the Blade Runner trial is getting more time than a major local event and that is insane.
  24. It is great for spider rigging. I swear I was in lazy mode today, I haven't had the front seat on my bow in years but today I did... Now just to find a way to mount a tv and recliner on the bow
  25. There was certainly some water hazards up there today.
