  1. Fished with a young man today that is quite an angler, he’s won quite a few local tournaments, and has fished the river quite a bit. We had a good day up to that point catching a lot of kentuckies, the smallies were not cooperating as well but we were on the tail end of the good smallie water on this river. Anyhow we got to a spot that had a big tree and some slack water and he perfectly sling a black and blue jig right next to a tree, then this happened. She weighed 6lb 4oz and was quickly released after a couple pics, also have video! For me, this is the largest river bass I have personally seen! I got to help land it as I forgot the dip net, made for some excitement!
  2. Boys I’m taking notes. Was a goggleeye to me. Lol
  3. Oh I didn’t realize you were heading out east. If you have a Roku box or chrome cast or Apple TV it will air in all of those on huntchannel
  4. I’m for sure an Evinrude guy. I had one on the old blazer and had one in a duck boat back in the day. The dealer is only a merc dealer that built the boat, but being one of our sponsors he worked with me on getting that ETEC. Seth your boat is sweet. If I didn’t like that fish in some restricted HP waters I’d like to have had something like yours.
  5. Yes sir! We are gonna be airing on fox 5 up your way next year John.
  6. I’ll never forget my first boat and moter I rigged up back in the early 90s, a 1963 sears and Roebuck V bottom and my grandpas old 1964 Johnson. Later I upgraded to a 68 20hp mercury. They were crude but I was as excited to have them as what I have now. I found a used blazer several years ago and fell in love with the boat, when the seats and carpet needed replaced and also was Interested in repowering, my dealer shot me a deal on a whole new setup and I decided to go that route. This time I had the outside painted in an attempt to keep it clean easier, we will see, I can be hard on a boat. Had a dealer in poplar bluff build this one, they did a superb job! I went with the HO version Etec 60/40 to handle the weight better! My old etec would push Round 27mph, got this one up to 35 not worried bout speed but planing out a load and having 3 guys in boat. Thinking bout those old days and cranking on those old moters that wouldn’t always start, feel blessed to have a new rig! Hope to make some good memories in this one. I do still have the old sears boat, I trailered it all over and it got to leaking bad round the rivots when I retired it. That will be a restoration project someday!
  7. Love fishing on the spring river in the winter!
  8. I enjoy the pics and reports. I’ve noticed they have been down and I to have not posted like I used to. That fixing to change as well! Thanks Aaron for th motivation, I’ve fished with him and he tried his hardest to put me on a big one. Top notch in my book. I think in the back of our minds sometimes we get nervous bout posting about smallmouth, we are all more protective of those river smallies. I enjoy smallmouth reports and it can be done without ruining a spot with just a little discreetness, but still informative. I have filmed a show here locally one time I edited myself and the local game wardens couldn’t even figure out where I was at. Ha ha.
  9. Went up an old ditch that runs into the river looking for crappie, the water has fell out fishing stunk but had a ton of carp and drum that showed up well on the side scan !
  10. Heres a few pics of me and my little buddy, those always make me smile, he can outfish me at that age! Also one with my dad and I after we restored my great grandfathers 36 Ford, and the last pic of all 3 of us together before my grandfather passed.
  11. It was a perfect walleye hole. The gar were up in the column for sure. I marked it going back with some minnows next time ! Man wish just 10 percent of those were walleye.could have some fun
  12. This was in th delta part. They were hitting water like crazy. It was deepest hole in a stretch of river so coils of been some carp and buffalo mixed in but for sure a lot of gar were there.
  13. Snapped these cool shots of a deep hole on Black river full of gar. I hung out there fishing for crappie in a nearby brush top they were hitting water like crazy. They seemed to be shaped like gar even on the graph.
  14. Ha ha ha Les I’m good, read rule #3.
  15. Ha ha that a good one flysmallie! . I actually got private messaged on here one time for mentioning a grub lol.
  16. Thanks guys. I can probaky get a set of wires snaked up there
  17. Merry Christmas and God Bless!
  18. No trim switch up front on mine but you think the front light wiring up there would be enough for a helix 7 ?
  19. I do have a light up there. Looking at a helix 7 just sonar and map model. I bet that would work. I never use that light anyway. Might try that. Thanks
  20. Wrench or who has done this, I’m collecting my Christmas money to possibly putting a 7 inch front graph up front on my boat. I am running a blazer jet boat that I also fish in some lakes around here, So weight is a concern on my boat. Would you recommend running a wire somehow to my back battery where i I run my console graph and outboard, there I have no interference/noise on that graph. Or can I wire it to one of my two batteries under the deck that are used for my trolling moter? I know these newer graphs probably have better noise filtering? Thanks in advance, Bret
  21. Get some 1/16 and 1/8 oz. olive and ginger is my go to it always catches some. If there generating much those 1/8 oz will be money!
  22. An absolute Ozark Trophy congrats Matt!
  23. J doc. I’m interested in a sonar for the front of my boat. Strictly 2d and structure scan is all I want up there. What would you recommend something in the 400$ range give or take a little. I have a helix 9 at the console and love th side scan. 2d seems pretty good but I’ve heard you say there’s better options for strictly sonar Looking at using this for crappie and bass offshore. Thanks
  24. With all my winter fishing winterizing a boat isn’t needed for me, but I do always run a stabilizer in like in the summer when I can go a month without running, I might rethink that now? I got a blazer like Pete has 4 years ago and now don’t run my trout boat much. In fact I didn’t take it to Jigfest because it hasnt ran in a year, gonna take out this week with fresh gas and hoping the stabilizer has kept from a big problem. Sounds like I need to grease the zerk some more on the pump, I’m about out of that marine grease I guess grease like I use to grease combines and cotton pickers are not recommended? Lol Bret
