Is this the same "grizzley Jig" that's located in Caurthersville Missouri. I got there several times a year to there store, which is awesome. They got everything, but it's centered around crappie for sure!

Fishinwrench, finally took time and got my Merc fixed I think. Pulled thermostat as you said, and wound dropping the jet to check impeller. It had a little damage, but went ahead and replaced it. Flushed water from the bottom and a ton of crap shot out the thermostat housing. Also shimmed up my jet impeller while I was at it. I'm ready to go fishing!! Holler a me sometime!! Your wealth of knowledge on things like this is appreciated!! Also, the guy that I bought the parts off of says that a 25 4 stroke merc is basically a Tohatsu engine?

Maybe he is Golden Wheeler? If you look, this was posted in 2010, I found it looking for something in the search, and thought i'd bump the thread. I was glued to the screen reading this great story!!

This is a great story, thought i'd bump it back up the thread, and a great photograph as wellQ Curious to know, but what was the main fish you caught, or ate using those nets? It's not thought about a lot by many, but the EP has a good catfish population just south of the line in AR, I'd say they would be there to considering it's just up river a bit? Edit, I see now where you spoke of what you caught! Great story!

Little Red Featured On This Weeks "talking Outdoors"
LittleRedFisherman replied to Quillback's topic in Little Red River
Jeff, it's a really good river for browns. I'd bet they were fishing Cow Shoals. They probably do one or two shows on the Litte Red every year. -
Great Report Smalliebigs....Love it!!

A Couple Throwback Photo's I Found!
LittleRedFisherman replied to LittleRedFisherman's topic in Photography
Thanks guys! It's amazing what you'll find in an old drawer. My grandparents love those old instamatic poloraids, it's funny, the top pic is from the 90's and in great shape, the bottom pic is from 2005 and looks like it's 30 years old...lol -
Feb 7Th, Need A Guide For A 1/2 Day
LittleRedFisherman replied to Brad Bessett's topic in Little Red River
Are you going to be wading in, or rent a boat? If you want to rent a boat, you can rent one at Lobo Landing near Pangburn, from there to dripping springs access is good fishing. JFK is right by the dam if you wanna wade fish, if there running water out the dam, you may want to boat. I've never fished Cow Shoals, and that's probably the go to place for brown trout on the fly from what I hear. -

Man, that's to bad, they are pretty awesome fly guides. There's not a lot to chose from on the Little Red I don't think. Might some lesser known one somewhere. Jeff Smith with Trout Magnet, guides there, but he's using trout magnets obviously, so not sure about the fly fishing option with him? Good luck, if you can't find a guide, post on here before hand, somebody can help you out. Hoglaw, post on this page some, he knows a lot about the river, I have only fished a section or two of the river, I usually fish near Lobo Landing area. Good luck -
I found these photo's today while going through some stuff at my late grandparents old house, brings back memories! That first pic has my first boat I rigged up. It was a 1964 sears and robuck v bottom my grandfather ordered out of the catalog, still got it, tough as nails boat, tho it does have some rivots leaking so I retired it. I had a 70 model 20hp Merc on it I believe at this time, later on I got a 25 Nissan, "those fast 25's", that old v bottom would corner like crazy! The bottom pick was taken 2 days before I got married, those two guys were in my wedding, fellow on the right was the best man, showed a pic of him recently on here, and that's him with me in the top pic, we had many fishing adventures back in the day.

Feb 7Th, Need A Guide For A 1/2 Day

On the Little Red for fly fishing, I would look no farther than Jamie Rouse guide service. He has a couple guys that work with him that are awesome as well. I fished with Matt Milner that works with him, highly recommend him if you can't fish with Jamie. Don't have there number handy, but you should be able to google it. Good luck, and post a report!! -
Ham and Phil, I may try to come there as well in Feb. Phil, I think I fish my jig a lot similar to your technique, it surely does work!! Ham feels for the bite a lot more, and it sure works for him. Richard Cross pops and drops and doesn't feel for the bite much, and he nails them. In conclusion, jig's are just awesome for catching trout I've come to realize! Cody said you sure was putting on a show at the OAF trip last month, love to fish you someday as well Phil!

Mountain Lion / Cougar Sighting?

I'm with you on the tail, but maybe it's a distortion of size in the photo, but it looks a lot bigger than a house cat? If you look the camera is shooting through a fence row, you can see the old fence, usually those stand at least waist high or taller.. -
This was sent to me from a buddy that lives about 6 miles west of me on Crowleys Ridge, which is a narrow band of hills that run through the north Delta in AR. This was taken from a friend of his Deer Cam close to his home. Not a bad pic, don't think there any denying it's a Cat!

Fish Porn 2013 Year In Review
LittleRedFisherman replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
Ok, might of got a little carried away this year, but here's some pictures thoughout the year that stick out in my mind. From catching smallmouth, to my PB brown trout with Mr. Capps, flathead on Mississippi, hitting the Southfork with GotMuddy, and the OAF winter trout trip which was awesome! My favorite is the last 2 pics, getting to fish with my son, trumps any fish I will ever catch!! -
I've been guided three different times, and guess I was fortunate because they were all class acts and very friendly. Last year a friend and I hired one on White River just in search of big browns, it was slow and was about 2.5 hours in before we caught one. After that first fish, he said I can breath a little now, he was getting a tad nervous. After that the bite turned on, and wound up catching a 29 inch bruiser, a brown of a lifetime for me. Me and that guide still text each other for time to time, great guy, never picked up a rod all day, just keep us tied up and one ready to go. My very first experience with a guide was on the Little Red, on a fly fishing trip. He showed me how to mend line properly, roll cast, etc. That was the only time he ever tried to fish, until I asked him to join me on the shoal as he was trying to put me on the giant rainbow he'd been seeing. I asked him to try also, as I'm about seeing a fish caught, it's not all about me catching it, that day was more for a learning experience. It was in the 20's that day, but he was very patient with me, as I was knotting up the leader a lot from being a rookie on the flyrod. My favorite experience, i'll go ahead and mention the name, as he's a regular on here, but Brian Sloss is a prince of a guy, and taught me a lot that day he took me and a friend fishing. The driftboat experience is awesome! He was very accomadating, taught us a lot more about flyfishing, and a few tricks to the river. We talk from time to time this time of year, and I consider him a friend. So guess from my experience, if I went with flyrod's guy, i'd probably be disappointed to, because I always felt I got what I payed for in my three experences with a guide. I know it's a tough job, but communitcation is important. Like Brian stated earlier, he was giving me water updates before we went, as he was afraid it might of been muddy, if the conditions had been bad, I know he'd would of warned us. It's more than just catching fish to most people i'd say, it's about learning. Which I did.

The Bond Of Friendship, And Fishing!
LittleRedFisherman posted a topic in General Angling Discussion
Had a chance to take my best friend, whom has been my best friend since kindergarten, smallmouth fishing the other day. We went to a spot in Arkansas, that his dad showed the two of us about 10 years ago. Then, we were in search for Winter Walleye, but we caught smallmouth that day, so guess my Internal GPS still worked, as we found the place we hadn't been to in a decade, and caught a few fish. Bruce and I have hardly ever had a cross word in our 31 years of friendship. One thing we always did when we could be together was fish or hunt. He has served our country in the Armed Forces since he got his college degree in Civil Engineering....yes he helped me with my homework at times... We've done everything from catch trout, bass, flathead on the St. Francis, and Mississippi Rivers. Hunted Rabbitts when we had 7 dogs, killed squrieels, coyotes, and boy did we have some big dove hunts on the farm back in the day! We loved to fish the Mayo Ditch that runs on the farm here, it was full of little bass and some nice bream! It was good to get on the water with him again, it was just like old times, we are older now, and have familys, but once we were on the water, it was just like it was 20 years ago! Nothing like the bond of friendship, while on the water! -
