  1. If I had of been smart 20 years ago I would have registered a bunch of domain names. My sister was a web designer and set up my "Sims Marine" website. In 2004 the company that has/had the SIMS video game thing offered 8000.00 for my domain. I signed off and they sent me a check. It only cost 20.00 to register the domain originally. I'm telling you this because you might wanna hear the offer. 😲 Seriously.
  2. What color are the Batson flyrod blanks ?
  3. I'd be happy to take care of it for ya. Feel free to gimme a call.
  4. Farmers have been killing coyotes, moles, hawks, ect. forever.
  5. Got the receipt? I'm sure it has a tracking device built into it. 😅
  6. Reps from Sage, Redington, Rio, Clacka, Towee, Hog Island, Smithfly, Grunden, Simms, AT&T, Motorola, Garmin, and Midwest Pool & Spa will be here shortly.......Any questions? 😁
  7. Having the events on a Tuesday during the day......kinda weeds out the factory workers. 😉
  8. Several of them are full time truly professional anglers, and they are making a comfortable living at it. There's more to being a professional angler than catching fish. Especially these days with social media, technique specific tackle, and high-tech electronic gear. Never before have you been able to easily reach out and get truly knowledgeable one-on-one assistance with every single product sold to fishermen. I can have a bonafide representative of just about ANYTHING standing in my shop, giving guidance, within 24 hours.....with nothing more than a quick text message. Gotta admit..... that's pretty freakin' COOL !
  9. All of the guys that fish this little circuit are wicked good fishermen and truly professional level, but none of them win or even get paid, consistently. It's always a crapshoot as to whose day it's going to be.
  10. The confirmation has already been done, at least for the current low water winter period we have now. Catch me streamside and I'll trade you a Dalmatian Trude for whatever you've got tied on at the moment, so I can decorate my hat with it. 🙂
  11. Here's the kicker though.......By the time that any of them had 2 keepers in the livewell that day, I had already made twice the amount of money that the dude who won 1st place and big bass got. And BTW, I have his wife's pontoon sitting in my yard....and that bill has yet to be totalled up. 😂 So all coolness factors aside..... it's better to be a Wrench than it is to be a Hammer. 😉
  12. You ever get one of those weird feelings.....like you're being baited ? 🤔
  13. On the coolness scale I think I'm on a downward spiral. All of my old bass tournament buddies say that I've gone lame. I haven't gone lame......I just am too lazy to put in the time & effort to be able to routinely do THIS ..... These boys just haven't grown tired of the grind.... YET! 🙂
  14. We're jammin' now ! 😋
  15. 80% of the time that's definitely true. High murky water, low clear water, or times when a really long cast is necessary to reach them is an exception. Also anytime you need to cast into a tight spot or under low hanging limbs a different fly is sure good to have.....cuz let's face it, Clousers and Wiggle minnows aren't known for their pinpoint accuracy or long range capability. I recall a couple times when the only fly I could cast far enough to reach them was a #4 standard deciever. It wasn't the best fly to catch them on but it was the only fly I could cast far enough with.
  16. Likely the same as redear or green sunfish.
  17. Here are the others that do all the damage for me. Hook sizes #6-#2 and 2"- 3.5" long.
  18. Beats me. If I were doing one I would attempt to spline each section the same. But I've only built 2pc. flyrods. I've never built a 4pc. Nearly all decent flyrod blanks are 4pc. nowadays. When you think about it, it would be kinda hard to find the spline on the 2 short butt sections. Maybe it doesn't matter.
  19. That's kinda what I figured. I bet the builders just don't bother to spline 4pc. rods.....and that's probably what he meant to say.
  20. Cool. I'll look into it and get back with ya.
  21. One of the Reddington reps told me that graphite rod blanks don't have a "spine" anymore. Is that for real? 🤔 Or is it just that on a 4pc. Flyrod the spline doesn't matter?
  22. I have done quite a bit of rod building, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having you build me a few custom sticks. I'm not sure what's available in blanks these days. I built my daughter a 2pc. 8'10" 7wt. on a Rainforest blank and it turned out really sweet..... but Rainforest blanks are NLA now.🙄. I'd really like to have a 9' for 6wt.with a fighting butt, built out of a comparable blank to what was once the emerald green Rainforest blank. From what I gather...."Rainshadow" blanks are available, but the "Rainforest" blanks are no more. It's confusing.
  23. Yeah I tried it a few times. Hated it. Everytime you get out the weight of the motor tips the canoe sideways and the battery and all of your gear slides over to that side. Just not a very user friendly setup IMO. Some guys dig it though. A square back canoe would probably eliminate that problem, but I've never spent a day in a square back.
  24. A 1648 needs a 20hp at the minimum. The old Evinrude 18hp motors are a great matchup for river use. This one was a 1542 with a restored 1968 18hp. Had some great times with her 🤗 I made out like a bandit when I sold that motor too. She was a real sweetheart. Still is I bet. 🙂 She'll still be pushing a boat when the new 4-stroke you bought yesterday is long gone. 👍
