  1. I will tonight for sure. I've been whining about wanting Ruben's and cooked carrots for a month...... and tonight is the night !
  2. Where in a state park can you NOT be in a parking area, "beach", or off road area? And if there is a legal place to possess a beer then how would you get it there legally? Have it dropped in by a helecopter? Years ago there was an article published by MDC about an old guy I knew (Frank Kramer) and a day at Bennett Spring, and in the article it said "he pulled out a flask and took a few sips in celebration of the large trout he had just released". I was like.....Wait a minute, hu? Do these rules/laws only apply when they want them to, or are they real? One can never know.
  3. Yeah the deep structure fishing here doesn't really excite me all that much because there are only certain times when I can sit out there and do it without getting tossed around to the point that it's more like a bull ride than a fishing trip.
  4. Well I just got in from the worst butt whoopin' I've had in a long time. The fish up this way are shut down hard for some reason. 2 dinks in 4.5 hours I started off with the deeper fish, then went to the backend flats to hopefully save the day. Didn't happen. Schools of little quarter sized shad everywhere and lots of suspended fish on the TV that refuse to eat a spoon, wacky rig, crankbait, jerkbait, or swimbait. The 2 dinks came shallow from some flooded grass.....but I fished about a mile of it to get them. If I hear that someone smoked them in the Gravois this evening I'm gonna waterboard them until they explain how.
  5. They're ok (stockers) but they certainly aren't worth breaking any laws over. I'd trade a truckload of them for a single pile of frog legs or a crispy chicken sandwich any day.
  6. No but I badly need a carpet layer. I guess I can feed you all my livewell plumbing jobs too. 😀
  7. Nothing wrong with that. 15lbs. is still respectable in my book.
  8. Just FYI:. Those bottom bushings are interchangeable if the pole diameter is the same.
  9. Nanette? Is that you? Thanks for picking up the house before you left. I found your bracelet. 😘
  10. I was going to hit it tonight under the full moon, but I ended up having to work until after 7pm and then my dog ran off and had to be found and brought back home. Piss on it, I'm just gonna stay home and drink a few Margarita's now since I'm not even in the mood anymore. Good job !
  11. Oh! With the all caps headline and the exclamation ATTENTION...... I thought you were about to turn our world upside down. You need to cool your jets young man.
  12. Thanks for that, Jim. I just like faster rods capable of higher line speed, tighter loops, and putting some immediate pressure on fish 3lbs. and over. I feel like I lack control with a softer parabolic rod such as this one is. Just personal preference. Just for reading all of that and pretending to understand I will graciously knock 5.00 off just for you. 😀. You'll enjoy this rod since it truly is a sweet casting instrument.
  13. Well ok then. Just please have my crispy chicken sandwich, cold soda, and supersize fries, and all will be fine. Knowing that you may have to endure a checkpoint after going fishing needs to be mentioned in all these promotional kid related events also. No need in leaving that out when "teaching" kids how awesome fishing is, right?
  14. Are you saying that I am special, or that I resemble a big fat shiner ?
  15. Ok I'll bite......... What's the immediate call to attention about?
  16. Anyone that wants to break the rules can do it NOW without worry. Everyone knows that once a checkpoint is done then there won't be another one for quite awhile. By having one they just opened the door.
  17. If you can't find one anyplace else I'll see if I can separate this one from it's owner. It's not mine yet, it's mounted on a potential trade-in (that I really don't want).
  18. No news is good news. I'd say he's having a blast and will have plenty of good fish stories to tell when he gets back.
  19. I got a Dallas county seat belt ticket at Bennett once. 20 mph speed limit headed up the hill to Larry's and I get busted for passing a park ranger with no seatbelt on. Also prior to that I got my rear end chewed for letting my daughter and her friend ride from the High bank to the park store on the tailgate. Never have had my fish checked though.
  20. It might be another one of those deals where you would have to of never had a license ever in your life. I doubt seriously that an expired license exempts you from the warrantless search. IOW, that they could only search your property if the license was current and valid (not suspended for any reason).
  21. Reminds me of a case I followed awhile back where A guy that had never had a driver's license claimed he was perfectly legal to drive. Turned out he was right. If you've ever had a license then you will always need one, but if you have never had one in your entire life then you can't be prosecuted (per the Constitution I suppose) for driving without a license, or even driving an unlicensed vehicle. When you got your very first drivers license you agreed to it.....and screwed yourself. Crazy, but apparently true.
  22. Sounds like a good reason for weed smokers to not buy a fishing license.
  23. Oh wait, is it the same base as the 300TX ?
  24. Ok I dug through my box of LCR stuff and I guess I don't have one of those, sorry.
  25. Yeah after 2 years of periodically trying for carp and buffalo on the flats while waiting for the Whites to show up I finally mastered a technique for catching them fairly consistently. I call it "jerktailing". Just drop a 1/40oz. #4 clouser on top of him, wait 2.6 seconds and STRIP SET HARD. If you think they fight hard when hooked in the face.....you ain't seen nothing until you hook one in the tail. About one a day is all you'll want to deal with.
