  1. ZZ top. I used to think they were great. Their stuff annoys me now. Shows my age I think.
  2. If there's a good reason why MDC would go the extra mile to protect feral hogs I'd love to hear it.
  3. I do, and I'm in Gravois Mills (west side of Lake Ozark). I'd be glad to work on it but I'm not here to pimp my business. So in other words you're not gonna hurt my feelings if there's a decent shop closer to you.
  4. They are needed to help fertilize the milkweed.
  5. I'm all about cheap sunglasses. Thanks!
  6. While you're at it try a yellow over peacock with black legs.
  7. Yeah you can buy some perfectly good stuff there, really cheap. Why aren't they using it? You don't trash an outboard and buy a new one because it needs a water pump impeller and a piece of fuel hose replaced. That's wasteful spending where I was raised. Actually I can complain about them all I want....if I want....since I replaced a set of control cables and a bilge pump on one of their rigs once and after sending 3 requests for payment I just gave up. I guess they figure they'll just pay me in Stream Team T-shirts. Whatever!
  8. Has there ever been actual violence spawned from here ? If there has I've never heard about it. When did the old saying, "sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me" become irrelevant?
  9. Ok, fair enough. I'm sure that endangered milkweed is important to someone. I'm glad that somewhere they are doing things to earn their keep. Maybe they'll get around to my area eventually and get some scratches on their gear.
  10. Only 3 dealers in the entire U.S. and nothing on their site to indicate where the factory is. Nah, I'll pass.
  11. Can we wait until the threatened and scared one replies to my inquiry?
  12. I'm also put out because they won't even print us a dang waterproof fishing/hunting permit anymore. Of all things to change in the name of cutting spending. If that was a real issue then charge us an extra .08 cents. IMO the dept. used to be awesome, then they got lots more money and became LESS awesome. Kinda backwards isn't it?
  13. What would my alleged agenda possibly be ? The department gets alot of money, and there's plenty that needs to be done.....but as far as I can see it isn't getting any attention. Instead they take on OTHER multi million dollar projects that (to me) are rediculis. Who else walks away from an unfinished project to start several other ones, and doesn't generate some smack-talk for it?
  14. Oh wow. Seriously?
  15. You do have a thermostat but unless it's getting overly hot, or not warming up at all, that's not your problem. Do the cylinder drop test and see if any cylinders are idling weak (if they are you won't notice much change when that plug wire is removed). If they all react equally then set your idle speed to 1100 rpm on the hose and go try again. If one or two cylinders seem weak then you either need fresh spark plugs (gapped to .030), or to have the carbs overhauled and re-synced. On rare occasion, leaking exhaust seals will cause rough unstable idle, but usually carbon will build up and "reseal" those leaks on its own.
  16. Why does everyone assume that the only place I frequent is the banks of Lake O ? I cover way more ground these days than I did back when dirty trucks, calloused hands, and muddy boots were the norm on every MDC employee I saw. I'll take your word for it and just assume that the "go home and clean up" policy is the reason why. Thanks for setting me straight.
  17. I agree. If I saw more of that in my 6 county home range I'd be proud of them.
  18. Oh I don't judge them solely on that. I'd be perfectly happy with what they did if they actually did anything. Hell they don't even cut their own grass around here, they sub-contract it out to landscaping businesses from 60+ miles away (probably a son in law of one of the honchos). All I ever see them do is drive thru the accesses occasionally in their pretty new 3/4 ton truck to verify that the grass got cut. Can't remember ever even seeing one stop and get out of the truck. I'm pretty old school and I kinda expect to see muddy tires and muddy shoes. I've seen their awesome equipment....sitting on trailers....do they ever USE IT ? Give me an example of something that they actually physically DO, besides move our money around, and maybe I could jump trains. I haven't seen a MDC uniform with dirt or cuckleburrs on it in many MANY years.
  19. A hell of a lot more than the ROI for Spoonbill, that's for sure. Unless they are secretly selling caviar.
  20. Almost zero dollars are spent in favor of the Smallmouth. Tons of money are spent on Spoonbill with no return on the investment whatsoever. The funds for Walleye, Musky, and Hybrid Stripers are pretty much a throwaway. The trout program is at least a break-even deal.
  21. In a small plot next to the dog kennel we planted potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers. All of that failed miserably, but this "thing" pops up randomly and appears to be loving life. Go figure.
  22. If it turns out to be a pumpkin I'm gonna mow it down. Some zucchini or squash would be worth having though. The farmers of such must have alot of land, if it takes that much space to grow one. Good grief.
  23. What is this thing? It popped up a month ago and is trying to take over the whole back yard. I thought it was gonna be a pumpkin but it has nothing on it that looks like the start of a fruit/vegetable. How can it be this big without producing something? And why don't the deer and rabbits want to eat it? They chew on everything else around here. For a size reference, the pool is 18' in diameter. This is all a single plant.
  24. Johnny Cash talking to music. Never could stomach that. I detect alot of original Skynyrd in these boys...
  25. Ya! Nothing could be less fair, unbiased, and reasonable than FISHING !
