  1. Good Gawd-Almighty! I've seen that boat before
  2. Extremely thin! It's what outboard powerheads are strapped to pallets with. Tow strap garfly:
  3. Y'all want some of this ?
  4. Guys! I was mistaken. Truman is currently 704.6 Wanna know what the lake level was on Aug.20 2011 (last year) ? It was exactly the same, 704.6 November (deer season) 2011 it got down to 704.1 or thereabouts.
  5. LOL, Yeah it's only 6 inches lower than it was this time last year.
  6. Sssshhtt ! Careful now, we've already had one guy damnear arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime.
  7. I guess I've never "camped" where I felt that was a problem. We leave all sorts of valuables unguarded when we camp and the only thing I can ever remember being vandalized was food items, by critters.
  8. For creeks I think it's hard to beat a 1/8 Strike King Bitsy bug jig with a Zoom Lil'critter craw trailer. Pitch it close to cover (or in the cover) and let if fall on a semi-tight line. Most times if a fish is there it won't hit the bottom, but if it does give it a slow drag, then a hop. No bite? Crank it in.
  9. Well sure, if you pull a truck out of a ditch with it it might stretch a bit before it snaps, but your not gonna stretch one while it's hooked up between the outboard shift linkage and control box.....other things will give first. Control cables both push and pull...... why do we never hear of them "being compressed" ? Next time you are faced with a cable that you think might be "stretched" go ahead and pull that core out and measure it. If you bring me a stretched one I'll buy you lunch.
  10. Shouldn't be any racheting in Neutral. If you can't adjust the cable barrel to get a clean Neutral while still getting a solid shift to F&R then you'll need to have it checked out and fixed right. Could be a worn shift cam or broken detent in the control box, or the bearing carrier in the lower unit walking out. Shift/throttle cables do not "stretch" (I hear that all the time..... Not sure where that "diagnosis" ever came from, but it's BS). LOL Don't just let it go though cuz it's probably wearing your shift clutch down pretty good while going down the highway.
  11. Herons are such inexperienced partiers and they don't know their limits. He probably spent all weekend doing tequila shooters and bong hits and the Monday morning hangover just got the best of him. Frikken lightweights.... happens all the time.
  12. Is there a shortage of them in China? Are their waters so polluted that even Asian carp can't flourish? Sounds like the end of unemployed Americans if so. What methods are legal to capture them and transport to the plant ?
  13. Are you 100% legal being there in the first place? I ask because you said it was your "local haunt", which could technically be trespassing. If it isn't a well traveled public stream then you might be causing yourself more problems than you are the dude with the bobcat. Odds are "Bobcat man" owns the property you stood on and that phone call could mean you'll not be fishing there anymore.
  14. Oh for crying out loud..... Somebody PLEASE inquire about his special lure so he can get on with his life. AA, Dude you're a piece o work, how old are you? You should have a flag on your avatar.
  15. I know it. There are billions of bluegill hanging around the docks, shorelines, and brush here, but they seem to vanish before they get 9". I never hear of anyone catching big bluegill here, not even an occasional one by accident.
  16. No experience with the BS (pun intended) but I have done a fair amount of searching for big gills on Lake O and have cone to the conclusion that they are too scarce to bother with. Any farm pond in the state seems better for gills than this lake.... not sure why but I never even hear about a big mess of fat gills around here.
  17. It's about time!
  18. If a Whalen employee showed up at his house, the "employee" wasn't on the clock at the time. So how "official and binding" is this alleged banning?
  19. Hell yeah, throw in the sad child bit....Good play ! LMAO
  20. I like the Zoom MagII during the mid-day, and the Zoom Ol'Monster early and late. Color is up to you but grn.pumpkin and tequilla shad is what I use. Texas rig, pegged. 1/4 or 5/16 Just cast or work the worm into a piece of brush, pop it gently off a limb and swim it steadily back to the boat with the rod tip low. The bite is either a weightless feeling or feels like you picked up a leaf. When you feel that, sweep-set hard to the side and reel like a madman if they run towards you.
  21. Try fishing a worm like a crankbait, seems to be triggering bites pretty good up by me.
  22. Whatcha prefer to fish for? Cats are biting prolly better than anything now, start by fishing the closest steep banks to the backend flats. Cut shad or Sonny's Super sticky dip. Drifters that know what they are doing are cathing big channels and blues from 12-18' around points and bluffy banks....but so far I have struck out with the bigguns. Bass: They'll eat 7" worms mid-day and 10" worms early and late, fish them kinda fast and don't be afraid to throw into a brushpile and let it set about 10 seconds then swim it straight back to the boat with the reel while keeping the rod tip low, sweep to the side when you feel extra weight. Don't pass up any brush from 4-22ft. until you notice a depth preference....it changes depending on the time of day, water color, boat traffic, ect, ect. Or sling a DD22 (or equiv.) and try to bump brushpiles in 12-18ft, keep it moving kinda quick and steady/no fancy business. Crappie: No clue, Prolly around 15-22ft. brush....but I wouldn't even bother, they're all dinks. White bass: I'll tell ya if you come by the shop, or see me on the lake or the boat ramp.
  23. Still throwing my old ones thus far but I'd venture a guess that it's all in the head. It wouldn't be like Rapala to take a proven bait and f*@% it up.
  24. I'm calling BS on this one. Cut&paste the email.
