  1. Well if it isn't straightened out by the time you get there will you please take a rake and a pair of pliers and fix the gage You might be able to send a bill to the USGS for the service call and fund your trip.
  2. I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for wasting one, even after their picture with it in the local paper is published..... So I'm goonna say "no", they aren't "protected".
  3. Hmmm, gage is down. last reading was at 3:30pm. Someone needs to go clear the debris and restore power to it. Wonder what that job pays?
  4. Been using and/or dealing Exide's for 16+ years ...... Wait, WHAT? OMG where did the time go ? I'm getting old They are a fine battery. Actually all the brands are good if taken care of properly. I see more Everstarts go bad before their time than any other brand....but I think that is more because of the way they are treated, and the fact that everyone around here is cheap and shops at Wal-Mart. Actually I believe Everstarts were at one time made by Exide, and may still be.
  5. There is no reason to run the recirc. unless you are underway on a long run. And the oxy should probably just be reserved for hot Summertime. Sounds like you might be loving them to death. Just for good measure though Id give the livewell Includung the inside of the lids a good cleaning and then let them air dry. I missed a crappie once and it went sour in the livewell, everything I put in it croaked until I got every bit of the stink out of it.
  6. What was the reason for the Pomme White bass die-off ?
  7. Horse Feathers! The day they stop stocking Brown trout in the Ozarks (or in the case of the Niangua..."claiming to") I will eat the felt off your boots
  8. If you're targeting smallies I think you may be screwed for Friday on the lower LN. You might be better off up higher (Mule shoe area) as it will settle down and clear up alot sooner.
  9. Not a chance. Hellbenders are cool but they don't generate much revenue. Money talks, and that's why we are short on hellbenders in the first place.
  10. I'll have to plead ignorance now. I didn't realize that browns were not stocked in the park. In that case... Hell no the rules on what is considered a keeper brown, nor the daily possession limit shouldn't change simply because a fish moved upstream of a cable. That's ubsurd. Not to mention an enforcement nightmare.
  11. It's my perception that tbe Current has a near perfect balance going on as it stands. Nice Browns are caught there with just the right degree of regularity IMO. Nobody gets all that excited about a big brown from the White.... cuz huge browns are everywhere and a tad too common. In my not so popular curmudgeon'like opinion a big trout shouldn't be an everyday occurance. Something gets lost when it is.
  12. Lets start a petition for trophy Rainbows too..... just to see which one hits the trash can first.
  13. Don't forget to say "Please".
  14. "Trophy" is kinda relative, but ok.
  15. Pretty sure that human population control is discussed and decided on behind closed doors. Our opinions and petitions don't carry much weight on that one.
  16. Just curious, when and why did Browns become so much more "special" than Rainbows?
  17. The gage is correct. Although the radar showed us in the Red & Yellow for most of the night, we got nothing more than a light shower that lasted about 35 minutes. I think they need to back the sensitivity knob off just a tad on that radar image.
  18. Angler success rates on the Current are pretty respectable and consistent, so I say if works leave it be.
  19. You're almost there Hoss, add 2 more sheet metal screws and its officially Redneck
  20. Seriously? They started predicting widespread catastrophic flooding 2 days before the first drop falls ? Has NOAA ever done that before?
  21. Y'all gotta realize that the weatherman has nothing to sell besides bad news, if all they did was tell you things were as they should be then nobody would sit through one of their "forcasts". So calm down, Spring ain't over.
  22. For cripe sake it's just some rain. The way everyone is talking it's like a major catastrophic event is looming.....Have I missed something ?
  23. I'm in no mood to Gargle it right now but I wanna say that Buffalo are native to the Miss/Mo drainage. Not aure why I think that otger than I know the commercial fishermen on the Miss used to set gill nets for them back when I was a pup. My Dad and Grandpa cut quite a few big holes in gill nets on the lower Salt and the Miss around Asburn after getting them caught in the prop. Nothing pissed my papaw off worse that hitting a gill net and having to spend 30 minutes getting loose from it. And those nets were always loaded with buffalo.
