  1. Check your email. I scanned a page from Delorme and sent it to you. tried to post it here but it wouldn't fly
  2. LOL, I'm not sure if we're taking about doing the same thing but I reduced some green-apple colored yarn into decent dubbing by cutting it into 1 inch pieces and blowing it around with 120 psi of air pressure in a little 6-pack cooler. The first time I tried it dry and it just blew fuzz everywhere and static caused it to all stick to the sides of the cooler. The second time I misted the yarn with a spay bottle of water and it worked like a dream. The 6-pack cooler (soft cooler with a plastic liner) works great because it has the little velcro trap door on top...knowhatimean ?
  3. Extremely well designed. You've outdone yourself....AGAIN.
  4. The only thing I disagree with is the notion that you generally increase your catch rate by always fishing a dropper. Obviously it is a technique for a few specific conditions...not all, by any means. Those that have built up confidence in it have my respect, because I can not pull it off sucessfully myself. On even and steady flows it wouldn't pose the problems I worry about. But if that trailing fly gets sucked into an opposing seam that lead fly is gonna do some pretty crazy (out of control) stuff down there. Alot of that is probably just my personal fishing style, my usual approach is more like shooting at specific targets within the flow, rather than combing the water column for a bite. I look at the water, decide where I think a fish might be, and attempt to put a fly right in his face. The addition of a dropper kills the control I need to be able to do that consistently. I know B.Wise fishes droppers on NFOW quite a bit....and frankly I don't see how he pulls it off as well as he does, because many holding areas of that river are extremely technical by my standards.
  5. If I ever get spanked by someone fishing a dropper rig I'll give it another honest effort. How's that ?
  6. I could probably pull it off on the waters I fish IF I considered the lead fly as simply "weight" and fished the tailing fly to targets. Anything that per chance took the lead fly after the drift / on the swing would be a bonus I suppose. But flys designed for a good swing are generally not good sinkers. I dunno, the technique just does not act friendly in the types of rivers I fish mostly.
  7. Honestly. Percentagewise don't most of your fish come on the tailing fly vs. the lead fly ? I guess if you're bobber fishing in steady consistent water like Taney, with few opposing current seams....sure. But I can't put a 2-4 ft. section of leader with 2 flys attached into a 20inch target area (between the seams) without some nasty interferance.
  8. I've never been one to have any confidence in droppers of any kind. I think it interferes with a tension drift and hampers control of the lead fly way too much. I'd rather fish ONE fly well, than to fish TWO flys poorly.
  9. How do you get "all gray" from natural pheasant tail fibers and copper wire ?
  10. Now there's a statement that can be taken several ways.
  11. Well, how jaded. Not once did he mention the regal peacock . After all, those 3 or 4 little turns of herl is what MAKES that fly. Has anyone ever done well with the original Sawyer pattern ? (nothing but pheasant and copper wire)
  12. http://www.modot.mo.gov/newsandinfo/CountyMaps.htm There ya go. Just costs a little ink This one is even better....just click to zoom http://www.bing.com/maps/?vendor=google&am...mp;pkw=missouri
  13. Congratulations Scott, and a huge Atta-boy to your net man. If the Pup was with ya when you caught it....a steak dinner is in order
  14. Actually I can't think of one thing you're likely to learn from a book, that you can't find online. But the first thing you need to do is pick a species (Bass, Trout, Panfish, Catfish), then pick a water type in which you plan to concentrate your efforts (Pond, reservoir, river, small stream). Specialize at first, then expand.
  15. Just below Patrick bridge. It was a momma and 4 babys. If you study the pic you can see 3 of the little ones behind her, the 4th one was behind a limb.
  16. Yep, that kicks it, Jeremy.
  17. Yeah well, I disclosed my monkey and Spider issues over on Riversmallies awhile back, and was suprised (and somewhat pleased) to hear that I am not alone. The concensus was that those who were uneffected by monkeys had issues with Clowns, but not vice-versa. Interesting hu? Nope, Beverly the crackhead Ape is being replaced by our new-age mascot... a big Alligator in tattered bibs and a straw hat. "Wally" ya know. (of who's namesake is STILL at large).
  18. In his defense: He did ask originally back in August. Somehow the thread got buried I think....cuz I never even noticed it until today. I've got Zebra's by the bucketfulls, from scraping them off lower units before servicing. Like Wayne said though, finding very many matched halves is hard.... when you're actually trying to.
  19. OMG I hate monkeys. My neighbor has several that run around in diapers, and everyone thinks they are the cutest thing on the face of the earth. But if it was up to me I'd pick'em off with my .243 from my front deck and leave them for the buzzards.
  20. Nothing goes together like hogs and a caddis hatch
  21. You only see them there when the possibility for revenue is high. And it's the county boys moreso than WP. A visit from the WP is merely a 2 or 3 day per year occurance on the Niangua, unless there is a bigtime tragedy and they are specifically called in.
  22. Ouch, that hurt. Seriously though, 3 months worth of party floaters are the LEAST.... of the Niangua's issues.
  23. Turkeys love quail eggs, and turtle eggs, and baby snakes. They are like a big chicken (you won't find anything in a chicken pin except for chickens and CS)
  24. Missouri has gone PADDLEFISH crazy ! Huge pet peeve of mine....don't even get me started.
  25. That's ok, I remember that thread. The way Brian was talking the other day it sounded like things were past the armchair stage, and soon to be a reality. I almost got excited.
