There won't be an increase in accidents "due to pot smoking". People have been driving high forever, and actually you tend to be more cautious with a buzz than you are when you're straight. The last thing anybody wants, when they are high, is any kind of unpleasant drama. You'll typically go out of your way, and take extra measures, just to avoid any. Marijuana is the most peaceful "drug" known to man. The world would be a much friendlier place if EVERYONE just did a bong hit every few hours 😂

They might have a pretty good idea of what it's going to be like tomorrow..... But Monday is out of their scope.

I mean.....High, how are you ? So I'm told that today is the first day of legal recreational marijuana. Wish I had some Oreos or Raspberry Zingers.

I thought that before I ate the package of "Creme cheese & Chive" crackers that were in my boat 🤢 Eeww! Never again!

There's a river access at Portland (right off 94) that has 2 wing dikes that you can walk out on. I've caught some nice channel cat there fishing Sonny's dip bait around the current breaks of the dikes. As a bonus, that little shythole bar there in Portland makes a really good Ruben sandwich. 👍 The only other place worth mentioning is where the Loutre river meets the big Mo. But unless you're happy with catching/snagging Asian carp I wouldn't waste my time there.

Nothing on the ground here, but the whole yard is a muddy quagmire. It was just barely warm enough to work today (Thanks, Groundhog) so luckily I'll be able to keep the lights on until our tax return hits the bank. The rest of the work that I have lined up I'm sure I won't get paid for until probably mid-March.....so needless to say I'm not gonna break my neck getting it done. Y'all are stuck with me for at least another month. 😁

I'm gonna text her and let her know that the biggest-toughest nurse on the floor needs to be the one feeding him his beans and carrots. 👍

I dated a gal in Hermann for a couple years. Octoberfest is nothing compared to their 4th of July shindigs. They truly know how to party in that little river town. 👍

Too dang cold for beer and margaritas now. Been sipping on Tincup and/or Devil's Cut a bit, but I'm never in a condition that I can't legally drive for more than an hour or so. 🙂

Oh it is here too. 👍 The guy that runs our local recycling center is a big time pheasant hunter/crappie freak, and a long time customer. He gets PLENTY of scrap aluminum from me (heavy stuff), so I'm not bothering with keeping heaps of piddly soda/beer cans sitting around for the flys to breed in. Grabbed a pair of screen doors from him last summer, and then @fshndoug installed them. No money changed hands throughout the entire process. Both guys mentioned have quick starting 1-pull motors on all their boats. And if something goes wrong it gets handled promptly. 🙂👍 The barter system is pretty huge in my circle as well. So much so that my tax preparer always has inquiries about it. Guess what? It's STILL legal. 👍

My wife's friend hit a turkey just outside the city limits yesterday. Took out her windshield and side mirror. I ran out there only 20 minutes later to confiscate some feathers......but I was too late. Somebody beat me to it. 😅

That's yet another thing to consider..... All boxes and bigger trash gets burned, and doesn't even have to be bagged up and disposed of.

I know this is stupid, but it is a mind bender that keeps getting brought up around our house.... Every other day I haul a giant trash bag to the dumpster. Basically 3 large trash bags full every week, and I feel that is probably pretty normal for every household. But in the words of Joe Biden..... LISTEN, HERE'S THE DEAL!.... We don't haul in 3 large trash bags full of stuff into this house on a weekly basis, that's a fact. And the majority of stuff that does get hauled in gets consumed and ends up in the septic tank. Plus, the stuff that goes out gets compressed/compacted and stuffed tightly into garbage bags. So HOW....if more mass volume of "stuff" is going out than is coming in..... Why is our house not gradually being emptied out ? Seriously! 🤔 This defies physics, does it not?

Those loins slice right off the hide like a crappie fillet. 👍. Something to consider the next time you come across a fresh roadkill. That's 4 good meals laying there !

A buddy of mine snatched one of those off Amazon, and it feels (and casts) nice to me, even with the crappy line he has. I'm a huge fan of Piscifun's rod/reels, if you're on a budget. But like several others have pointed out.....Get the best line you can afford. Rio Mainstream series lines are affordable and have the same weight & taper as the more expensive Rio Grand. I believe the days of having to pay big bucks to get a good quality rod blank are over. I've seen numerous bargain priced rods (and reels) over the last couple years that I can't find a single thing wrong with. Even the cork, reel seat, and guides are good.

Me either. A T-shirt sleeve does the job just fine. Frogs Fanny is really good stuff. It wicks every bit of moisture out of a fly...like immediately..... Then just blow the dust off and you're good to go. From what I understand the stuff is used in the photograph developing industry and can be bought in huge bags really cheap. But that little bottle of it lasts me a couple years....and I like the little brushes. I'd rather just keep the Frog Fanny company in business. 👍 FYI: if you don't blow the dust off, you can float a weighed nymph with that stuff. I absolutely HATE Ginks or other paste type floatants. They ruin peacock herl or anything that you want to appear fuzzy. Plus they leave an oil slick on the water which can't be a good thing for your rise-to-bite ratio.
