Ya know, the whole Viagra thing really pisses me off. It's all because WOMEN think that they should be able to just will a guys tool into a rigid state on immediate demand, without any effort on her part. To hell with THAT ! If she wants that kinda luxury in her life then she should just stick to supporting 20 year olds her whole life. Don't come at me in sloppy jogging pants, saggy tits, and curlers in your hair.......and then act disappointed because I'm not harder than a Cadillac axle! Ain't no pill taking going on here ! Get freaking REAL ! 🙄

That "backing barrel" might work if you could treat it to stay afloat. The problem with all flylines, even the best of the best, is that the tips always sag a bit because of the weight of the leader butt. I've tried several other methods but nothing I've tried works as well as a section of that old Air Cell line. I learned it from Mike Alred who was a Montana guide friend of Ed's from Springview flyshop, many MANY years ago. Whitlock learned it from the same guy, and even wrote about it in an article he sold to Flyfisherman magazine......but he didn't go into the REAL reason. Instead he mentioned using several pieces along the length of a leader, and using them as a "bobber" for midge fishing. -

You could say that.....but doing so would expose your lack of understanding the technique. It's a visual aid that helps in getting the desired drift angle. The attention is diverted away from that piece of orange line as soon as the mending is complete. At a distance of 30', depending on light conditions, I can't be 100% sure where the end of my flyline is without it. My "strike indicator" is the angle of the line between rod tip & water surface. It's like setting a mouse trap. The line/leader is laid on the water in a way so that any interruption of the drift immediately causes EVERYTHING to begin tightening up. You aren't going to notice THAT by trying to watch a little 3/4" piece of orange flyline that's 30-40 feet away. You pay attention to the angle of line coming off your rod tip, just 8-9' away from your eyeball. If the angle changes, and YOU didn't do it......then a FISH did it. 👍 That's why it's called "angling". Lesson over. Now find us some frickin old school orange Air Cell. 😉 -
I've seen old black/white photos from the '50's that would blow your mind. Dudes with old steel rods, dressed as though they just walked out of church, standing next to stringers 10 feet long, that are just LOADED with 5 pounders.....and a few that look to be pushing 8+ . An acquaintance of mine has Polaroid pics of 2 1/2 dump trucks full of dead Walleye and assorted other fish...... Casualties of a back pumping catastrophe not long after the construction of Truman dam. Those fish were spread over a nearby farmers field and tilled into the soil. Allegedly the COE had to foot the bill for the MDC's entire walleye hatchery program because of that.

From here on out, I think we should refer to her as....Sweet Potato pie. 😘

Sweet potato pie isn't going to stay inside you long enough to add any weight. That will go right through you like grain through a goose.

Coming to a bass boat near you!

Perfect time to sell it to the unbeknownst and buy a fresh one. Jus'sayin'. There are numerous NLA parts on a 8 year old Verado. -
Oh I'm just going through an adjustment period, I think. Surely you OLDER guys remember the day when you began to realize you needed to stop leaping out of truck beds and trailered boats by just jumping over the side, and that hurdling porch rails and fences was becoming a crap shoot...... Well that's where I'm at currently. My mind says GO! but my body says WOAH! There's a bit of depression to fight off...... but I'll win the battle. 👍

Actually that wasn't a fair statement that I just made..... It'll probably still run, it just won't crawl out of the hole, or push a boat firmly onto a trailer anymore, and nobody (including factory techs) will be able to determine Why Not.......so they'll tell you to install a lower pitched prop. Surely I don't have to tell ya how THAT works out. 🙄 In this business I like HAPPY CUSTOMERS.......but when dealing with aging 4-strokes I just can't truly create any. And neither can anybody else. -

It has to have the Dacron core like this... Otherwise you can't "skin it" to get the little floating sections off. I'm surprised that nobody else does this, I've been doing it for 30some years. Just thread it on your leader butt section, it keeps the very tip of your fly line up on top and gives you a sighter to focus on when drifting nymphs or swinging a soft-hackle. Doesn't impede the drift or make your mends stupid....like a "bobber" or a Palsa does. -

Just wait until the warranty expires. Nothing is any quieter than a motor that won't run. -
Thankfully! You know what they say about the French.....

Gettin' there! I don't feel that old, but the numbers don't lie. 🙄 Hell Ronnie, I had 5 grown adults under my control before you were even born ! 😂 I prefer to call it "experienced". I have paid pretty close attention to everything that has gone on around me for 59 years, (listen, process, file away, and take notes on how it all worked out), and I haven't started forgetting any of it yet. I figure that I have another 7-9 years of supreme intelligence gathering before I start forgetting things and buying into all the BS that everyone else is talking about. 😅 I'm a pretty deep thinker. 😉

I've always said, "a 1648 Jon is all you need to fish anywhere in Missouri". It will cross big water and heavy waves, and one man can drag it across a dry gravel bar.

I was working in St.Chuck during that time period. I probably installed your cable TV.

Those names have kept plenty away. There was a time that the Meramec was managed really well for browns. And those extra steps were worth it. That was back when the guys doing the raising and stocking were drunken hillbillies with a 7th grade education, and no fancy vehicles.

You weren't missing out on anything. Nothing but fodder for outlet fishermen.

I tried Piscifun lines, they have a mono core so you can't "skin them", so no good for the purpose I'm needing. Casts good, nice and slick, and would be a good line at great price.... if it wasn't so insanely STREEECHY. -

I searched and couldn't find any. I don't want it to cast. I use it for sighters on my nymphing leaders.....and I'm down to about 4" of it left. -
Back to 1969, believe it or not. Good grief I'm getting old! 🥴

No, but there were 1/100 and 1/80 gold painted jighead's. And peacock herl wrapped on a mini-jig head has been a trout park staple for as long as I can remember.

The old bright orange SA Air Cell level 6 to 8wt. floating, with a Dacron core. If you've got one I'll give you double what you paid for it back in the early '80's. 🙂

If a bluegill fly is what you're interested in......this BUBfly here in a size 10-12 is my personal favorite "killer". Has a really slow fall rate, and they eat it on the drop. Originally touted as a river smallmouth fly in a size 4-6......but I never could interest Smallies in it.
