  1. You ever sell something and know deep down in your heart that you're gonna regret it ?
  2. She gone 😥
  3. Oh I dunno. A few guys here on LO pool a good bit of money together to hire a couple of retired guys with a undecked tri-toon to sink big brushpiles in certain release area locations. The ones handing those ol'boys cash have a proven advantage or they wouldn't keep doing it. It may not put fish in the boat but it puts fish where you want them to be so you can catch them.
  4. Cracked (possibly broke) a rib on a winch stand once. Took 3 months to heal from that one. Live & learn. Wind was blowing like crazy, waves coming over the transom, in a hurry to get the boat pulled out. Wish I had just taken my time and let it sink on the trailer, wouldn't have hurt anything.
  5. Right on. Certainly do as you wish. As for Optimax motor mounts though...Very common. I've replaced 5 I think, and the Merc dealer up the road has done at least a dozen on warranty.
  6. Oh it's definitely resolved. What's keeping your motor stabil with those type braces is the hydraulic system putting extreme pressure on the pivot housing. I'm not sure that you understand how your outboard is put together. All those Optimax motor mount failures you should be hearing about are not caused on the water, they are caused on the trailer. Believe it or not boats and motors take a way worse beating on the road than they do on the water.
  7. Well, we do have an overpopulation problem. Go ahead and pretend not to agree. 😊
  8. Might have been me. I've done it more than once. I've neglected to remove the transom tie-downs even more.
  9. The one you have is best. Just make sure the transom tie-downs are also secure.
  10. Dang it. If it would take a 15 I'd be seriously interested.
  11. I had a 1.25" grinder wheel grenade back when I worked at the marina. Chunks of that wheel buzzed right past my head & chest, went through walls and busted lights and high pressure air lines. I'm sure that one of the other idiots had misused the grinder and cracked the wheel, but I still cringe every time I hit the switch on my bench grinder. I mean, YIKES! 😮
  12. Really? Y'all don't enjoy this overwhelmingly above not knowing where or how any of them are fishing....and just seeing them haul a bag to the scales at the end of the day? IMO this format is head & shoulders above the old way. And it's way WAY better for the fish.
  13. Did I not say that if you feel the conditions are sketchy and you'd feel better if you had a PFD on then by all means put it on ? Pretty sure I did. All I'm saying is..... Don't attempt to make ME feel like an idiot for not putting on a PFD in the boat ramp parking lot before even launching the boat. I hear the same BS at the bike shop and bike forums about riding my mountain bike without a goofy looking skull cap. When I grab the grinder I put on safety glasses, but not when I grab a file. Same thing.
  14. Tilt/trim cylinder braces only protect the hydraulic system of the tilt/trim, they do nothing to provide support for the transom of the boat. They are fine until you hit a bump or a pothole. Sturdy transom tie-downs and a brace that goes from lower unit to trailer frame are best.
  15. Gavin, I will. Daryk, What's the max h.p. rating on the Gheenoe? Got a pic of it handy?
  16. Right! You can either die a long and agonizing death in a hospital from any number of diseases, or you can trip over a bottle of Dip-n-dye and fall out of a boat hitting your head on the way out. Preventing one way of dying is just opening the door for another. Why bother wearing a PFD if you're not also gonna wear a helmet, eye protection, and a RFID chip? I can understand wearing safety equipment when there is a reasonable probability that things could go bad, but taking anal safety measures just because you're doing something other than sitting in a recliner watching TV just seems rediculous. You hear guys say "man if he was only wearing a PFD he'd still be alive". Well if he hadn't left the stupid bottle of Dip-n-dye on the deck, or paid attention to where he was putting his feet then he'd still be alive too. Where do ya draw the line of blame?
  17. I sold a cherry little Johnson 6hp not long ago. Wish I'd known you were looking for one.
  18. I never claimed invulnerability, I just have a reasonable amount of confidence that I'm not gonna do something stupid and get myself killed. I mean it's worked for 55 years so far. If I had hydraulic steering on my bass boat, drove like a madman, and didn't wanna secure my batteries proper then I'd be a lot more religious with my PFD wearing. As it is I put it on when I feel things might get sketchy ... and thankfully that isn't all that often. In a sense wearing ultimate safety equipment all the time might lead you to believe that you don't have to pay very close attention to WTF you are doing, or what you are drifting towards. The most important piece of safety equipment is your brain. As long as that part is working like it should then the rest is pretty much useless.
  19. If I was stuck on an island I'd want it to be with someone like Marty. Definitely not with someone who I had to worry they might fall off their log. 🤣 😎
  20. I'm trying to remember the last time I was just doing WHATEVER and suddenly just lost my legs and fell over. Not even while roller skating stone blind drunk. But yet I'm a fool and a jackass for not being concerned about falling off the deck of my bass boat? 😃
  21. Yeah I haven't gotten my reimbursement check for the government shutdown yet. If it doesn't come soon I won't have two nicklels to rub together. 😎
  22. No. It's cold and windy, I'm broke, and right now it's more fun to sit here in the warm kitchen watching my wife make sugar cookies and picking on you guys.
  23. Oh stop it! Y'all know (or should know) that I'm all about kill switches. Nothing bugs me worse than all these boats we see running down the lake unmanned and slamming into bluffs and docks at 70mph. 🤣
  24. Wow!!! Maybe you should go fishing I can't, my PFD won't zip up over my blizzard coat, and I don't have an extra 200.00 right now to buy a XXL
