Exactly. And I think if all clubs/circuits would just try it they would feel likewise. If pics or scoring is sketchy at all, or if there are any valid disputes among the field, then simply refuse to accept it. It is each anglers responsibility to make sure that every fish scored is indisputable. That is NOT hard to do. Matter of fact, it is easier to do than babysitting and culling fish all day long.

I went out to look but we had a heavy fog set in and I couldn't even see past the top of my house.

Yeah, if you think cold fronts make fishing tough here in MO/AR,... just try to catch a fish in SC, FL, GA, AL when a northerly wind is blowing. You might as well stay home and wash the boat.
-
Probably because they want Florida strain bass. I know probably 80% of the fishermen that launch from the Gravois access on LO and I'm certain that very VERY few green bass get kept. Plenty get hauled to the other end of the lake, but nobody keeps and eats the Largemouth here.

I agree. There should be no need to stock black bass IF the methods and limits are managed properly.

Anybody made it out yet since the semi-cold arrived?
fishinwrench replied to JestersHK's topic in Archery Hunting
Yep, cuz now you have work to do, don't ya? 😄 The fun part is officially over. Since it's been so warm....how much fuzz is in that belly hair? -
No bass stocking is taking place anywhere, to my knowledge. Except for the twice-weekly stockings at tournament weigh-in sites.

Recreational fishermen bring more money to the community than tournament anglers. Do you suppose that all the tournament anglers would NOT FISH if they didn't have a tournament to enter. Again, I'm not anti-tournament, I'm anti-hauling fish to the other end of the lake repeatedly, ad infinitum. They need to force these guys to alter their scoring practice. Period. Because apparently they are never gonna do it on their own.

I'm sure that it could. But it also could be just as easily ignored. I'm quite sure that it got read by several, and they all knew without a doubt that everything I said was 100% true and a valid concern that they could fix if they wanted to. They just don't want to, for whatever reason, and they also knew that if they replied then that would prove that they read it....and they'd be officially entering into the discussion. And they are afraid to do that. Politics trump's Mission Statement once again. Bass tournament weigh-in's have NO (zero-zilch-nada) conservation stance. A couple per year wouldn't hurt anything, but 70+ per month.....Come the hell on ! Fact:. They read it. They whispered in the corner about it. They were advised to NOT RESPOND. Anyone here doubt that ? Didn't think so. So what good is a petition regarding ANYTHING?

Been in favor of that for over a decade. My "giving up" happened 3 1/2 years ago after I spent almost a month contemplating, studying and composing a very professional and fair series of thoughts, questions, and possible solutions regarding the amount and frequency of bass tournaments on our lakes, and the possible effects of them. I ended by asking that IF the degree of fish relocation being done could not CURRENTLY be considered a problem....then at what level WOULD/COULD it be? That correspondence was sent to 3 separate individuals at MDC, and was resent twice. I never received a single reply. Had I asked about owl balls, beetles, milkweed, or anything else I would have gotten an immediate reply. So hey...it still is a major concern of mine BUT I have other things to focus my attention on that I CAN make a difference in. IMO they pissed in my face, so other than Stream Team stuff (because we would do that anyway) I'm not playing their game anymore.

Craig Fuller is our guy. Yeah I've talked with him a multitude of times. Nice guy but he doesn't care about the same things that I care about. Everything that concerns me is always the last thing on their list of priorities/concerns. And the first thing on their list is always something that seems stupid and pointless to me. Guess I'm just one of those douchebags that insist on being difficult.

Yep, and then applaud themselves for it.

Getting Started Chasing Smallies
fishinwrench replied to Smallmouth Addict 12's topic in Smallmouth Talk
Reminds me of a joke: Guy goes out and gets plastered, pukes all over himself, and has to have a friend drive him home. On the way to his house he kept on about how much trouble he was gonna be in when he got there, wife was probably gonna leave him....blah-blah-blah So his friend says, Don't worry buddy, I got ya covered. He hands him 2 twenty-dollar bills and says "put these in your shirt pocket and tell her your boss got drunk, spilt a drink on you, and then puked on you when you were helping him get home. Then tell her that he apologized and gave you 40.00 to have your clothes cleaned". So, guy walks in and sure enough the ol'lady lit into him in a big way. Wait...Wait...he says, let me explain. You see, my boss got drunk and was spilling drinks everywhere, I was helping him get home and he barfed on me. See he stuck this money in my pocket to cover having my suit cleaned because he felt bad about it. Wife reaches in the pocket and says "Well gee, ok. Here, give him 20 of it back cuz it's not that big of a deal". He says, No just keep it, because the puke on my shirt is only the half of it.....The sonuvabitch crapped in my pants too. -

No! I refuse to lose a whole county just because Pete is suffering from dementia. That's BS! -
No, but they attend all the meetings and relay the information. Either way the park store gets a way fairer share of permit sales than does all the other retailers that sell hunting/fishing permits/and tags.

Getting Started Chasing Smallies
fishinwrench replied to Smallmouth Addict 12's topic in Smallmouth Talk
No it's a total frame job. Somebody asked what he could use for a good excuse to not go fishing on a perfect day. I gave him what would be the best excuse ever..... And now you are going around telling everyone I pooped my pants. It's ok though. If it brings you that much happiness to imagine me with a load in my britches then I'll just let you run with it, as out of context as it may be. You're just..... you're slippin'! 😅 When my great uncle got old he decided one day to sell his boat. Then for a month every morning he'd wake up, look outside, freak out and call the sheriff to report it stolen. The dispatcher would answer the phone every morning and say " I know, Walter, rest easy, we'll find it". When my aunt would try to tell him that he sold it he'd say "bull**, you're nuts, I'd NEVER sell my boat". -

According to Weaver's the tags sales for adults alone was up to 357,000 this year. x 3.00 is a good bit over a mil. 5% of that is 50k

Oh it's ok, that's only like the 3rd time you've tried to frame me. I usually just let it go. Senility is a bummer, but we'll hang with ya as long as we can ol'buddy. -

No I didn't. Your memory is bad. Maybe see a doctor about that? -
That adds up to roughly 20k I think. The dude that gives out the tags deserves a raise.

That sounds like a blast. Do they stop in Jeff City first or head straight to Columbia and Mexico ? -

Why didn't I go? Oh yeah, that was held outside of my 5 county range wasn't it? No sense in me traveling halfway around the world to listen to something that I've either heard before or will hear all about later....plus I have better beer at home. 😊
