Yeah pretty much. My best advice is to go ahead and sell that pontoon before the tires rot off the trailer, or before the license renewal comes up. Outrageous deals like that can happen at estate sales, but it's not likely to come from someone who can install it. If you find one and need to have it installed I will do it for you if you bring me a Subway sandwich and a diet Coke on a day that I don't have any paying jobs waiting.

No inconvenience at all. You want the price to be as low as possible but you want one that's newer. You're gonna be a tough sell. 😀 My first question was "What's the budget?" Clue me on what the budget allows and I will see if I can find you the best deal for that amount of money. JFTR newer isn't always better, some of the newer model years can be real turds.

Ya know what the definition of Tremendous Torque is ? That's when you wake up with a piss hard-on, you push it down to pee....and your feet fly out from under you ! That's tremendous torque ladies and gentlemen, and we are gonna build a wall that eliminates that. And who's gonna pay for it ???!!! You dam right they are!

Because of the geometry there truly isn't much torque on the steering arm, so under normal operating circumstances the stress on that bolt is minimal. If you've ever operated a tiller outboard then you should understand. You can control it with 2 fingers easily The only time undue stress is applied there is like in the conditions I explained in one of my earlier posts here. Hydraulics can apply tremendous torque with little effort IF the motor is jammed or braced and can't swivel normally. Things can break or crack .... and then fully fail while underway. 😅 I said "Tremendous torque". I sound like our boy Donald. There's just a tremendous amount of torque when that happens. Really we need to reduce the amount of tremendous torque ! Eliminating tremendous torque is important for Americans.

It is a 1984-85 35hp. The same motor was made from 1983-1989 so aquiring parts will never be a problem. It can be boosted to 45hp very easily... but I wouldn't recommend it. It actually puts out 38hp. stock. Truthfully it's not the best choice for a pontoon unless it's just an 18 footer. You'd need a different prop than the one that's on it if you are pushing a toon. It's currently propped for a 16' wide Jon boat. Yes I am in Gravois Mills. Yeah alot of places play those kinda games. It's uncalled for, there's no problem earning a good living without shafting people like that. They obviously over-extended their overhead, which was THEIR MISTAKE, not yours. They made bad business decisions and they expect their customers to pay for it.

Took it in on trade awhile back. Compression is excellent and gearcase is flawless, seems pretty low hours. It will get a full refresh work over before it leaves and I'll honor a reasonable warranty if I install it. I was hanging onto it for a future Jon boat project but as always everything I own is for sale. Shop around and see what the best deal you can find is, then let me know and I'll see if I can beat it.

I could easily take the opposite side of this debate, but there'd be nobody to debate it with. I'd just say "prove it" and the argument would end there.
