After seeing that one on a black Friday sale for 69.00 I looked into the 1000X version in .25 with the better stock. (200.00+/-) Honestly I can match it's performance with the TS22 (21.8gr.) pellets in my .22 Gamo, once the target gets past 20 yards. The best 30+yard groups I've seen from the Hatsan Vortex .25 are borderline shameful. I'm just not that impressed with the short range power since I can already deliver 15ft/lb at 15 yards with the .22 Most of my shots are 25 yards and beyond. That's why I was curious what kinda catalog damage your .25 will do at 25+ yards, and what kinda groups you can get at real world hunting ranges. I don't get many 15 yard shots in the woods around here.

You Beaver folks, and others, should enjoy this video

How do I stop these thoughts. Will I ever reach puberty ? -
I will trout fish in below freezing temps. It is tolerable if you're standing in 45-50° water, down in a holler out of the wind. Being out in a bassboat on an open lake during below freezing temps is something everyone should do just so you can join into conversations like this. But that's pretty much the only reason to do it.

I'm not against that plan at all. The whites sure insulted me plenty during Fall 2017. I still blame the douchebags at the dam. There was no reason to suck the lake that low beginning the first week of October, no reason at all.

Rather than Google Clovis and Folsom I'd much rather have one of you educate me.

I know about the Owen boat line and how they catered to sportsmen. I have honestly never fished the James except for once during a spring white bass run many years ago. I don't even remember the name of the place I was taken. There are still 3-6 old wooden Owen cruisers here on the lake. They really knew how to build a boat back then, those old dogs are SOLID.

Oh I don't believe there was ever much of that going on. Pretty sure they ate plenty though, which was fine back then because the number of anglers on any given stretch of river was limited by the distance folks travelled on a daily basis. Wasn't near as many folks running down to the James from 50-100+miles away for a day of fishing back then. Some "Ozark traditions" are just harder for some folks to shake I guess. Screwing your sister was an Ozark tradition too, but finally they got smart enough to realize it wasn't a good idea. And some folks learn it quicker than others.

You could cry about not being able to legally gig on the James anymore. And you could blame it on guys with piss poor eyesight and/or piss poor morals/no ethics. I'd sympathize with ya.
-
Just think......It could be better than the lower Meramec if.....
-
How come you never hear trout park guys complain about that nasty brown layer of liver tasting mush on those hatchery rainbows?

When the pellet is bigger than the dinosaurs head, is it really important where the POI is? This dinosaur business isn't for food, it is strictly pest control. They are invasive time travelers that need to be wiped out before they do any further breeding with our already reptilian politicians.
-
You two are starting to look like dinosaurs.

Ya mean BPS/Cabela's doesn't send you 2 catalogs every month like they do me? Did you download the Chrono Connect app ? I'm interested to see what the ballistics are with the .25

A 2000-2003 Merc 25 w/electric start will sell for 800-1000 depending on how clean and unscathed the skeg, prop and lower unit looks. Since yours has set for awhile it needs about 250.00 worth of "freshening up" (if you can do it yourself you can save 150.00) If it's not electric start then knock off another 250.00 It's kind of a kick in the nuts that a 1972 Johnson will sell for more.... but that's the way it is. Being a Mercury more than 7 years old that means that there are already a bunch of NLA (no longer available) parts for it. Shifting and throttle components being among them. The most frequent issue with those 20-25 Merc's is the lower cowling seal that allows exhaust fumes into the enclosed cowling and when that seal degrades from exposure to fuel the motor runs rough and can't be tuned. The replacement seal is NLA from Mercury so one either has to be made, or you have to run the motor with the cowling removed so the motor can breathe fresh air.

What would you like to get out of it ? What offer would you gladly accept, and what offer would you pass on?

You just need to try one and feel that hard thu-thump when you give it a 10" pull. Sometimes it just gets their attention better. I usually give 2 kinda hard pulls - one softer shorter pull - a twitch - then a pause. Some days pause longer than others but the rest of the cadence stays the same. I work them pretty fast and cover some water until I get bit then I'll try long pauses before moving on. A stock deep rogue with the stock hooks (sharpened) and just enough suspend strips on the tail end to make it set level. Shake the rattle beads to the front if sink tuning it, but you'll probably have to fine tune it on the water. The 78 has been a savior in calm clear water probably 4-5 times in the past, and for river smallies it's always a killer. I really don't like to throw it but it HAS gotten me bit more than once when the bigger ones wouldn't. Freaking barn door crappie, whites, and drum love them too.

No problem as far as wire guage is concerned but it's kind of a Rube Goldberg way to do it. #1 you'll have to have your running light switch turned on, so your powering up both bow and stern light sockets. And #2 you're gonna get feedback/distortion when it rains or if you take a splash of water over the bow because of the exposed pins on the light socket. You are basically sticking an unsealed circuit into a puddle of water. It's just not the proper way to wire a boat.

I can't even find a good scope (that I like and can afford) with a 12.5" or less overall length. Only bad part about the Swarm so far. That's ok, I have 3 magazines and truly enjoy not having to stuff pellets one at time.
-
Ok good! Was a bit concerned that the 32mm might be a little dark, and that the mildots were a bit overwhelming. Wish it only had mildots on the lower side.
-
Well Poo! I forgot that scopes for the Swarm (because of the magazine contraption) can't be over 12.6" in overall length. Pretty hard to find a scope that I think is the absolute bomb....that is also under 13". Don't really care for the 32mm objective but I might have to settle for this one

You're drunk. Merry Christmas!

Dirty water, or really dark blustery days. Or anytime you are fishing behind someone throwing a standard jerkbait. They are a good choice not because they go deeper but moreso because they have a more radical thump. It's hard to find "deep diving" jerkbaits that suspended horizontally flat. The ones that suspend with their nose down are worthless.
