  1. I have about 4 yards of THE mohair (the good stuff that you can't get anymore) left, and I am like the biggest mizer in the world about it. Not a single millimeter gets wasted. If my house ever caught on fire I would run through flames to save that stuff.
  2. Please don't kill the possums ! Just pet them and let them go. They are precious and we lose far too many to unscrupulous drivers that refuse to hit the ditch and roll their vehicles to avoid them.
  3. See? 5 hours since the original post and already more popular than Carp. 😋
  4. Actually they are my #1 fly pattern for trout, and often Smallies. Here are some interesting leech facts to bore you with. Get used to it, before long you are gonna know more than you ever wanted to know about Leeches. Leeches Facts Leeches Facts Leeches are types of worms. Their closest relatives are earthworms. There are over 650 species of leeches. They differ in size, type of diet and habitat. Leeches usually inhabit marshes, rivers and ponds. One fifth of all leeches live in the sea, while certain species live attached to the forest vegetation. The most popular species of leeches is Hirudo medicinalis, better known as medical leech. It is used for several medical procedures. Unfortunately, number of medical leech in the wild is decreased due to habitat loss (as a result of increased agriculture), water pollution and introduction of invasive species. It is listed as endangered species. Interesting Leeches Facts: Size of a leech depends on the species. Some species can reach 16 inches in length. Most leeches are usually 0.3 to 3 inches long. Body of leeches is composed of 34 segments. Their body is brown or black in color. Leeches have suckers on both ends of their body. Most species have three jaws equipped with small, sharp teeth. Their teeth are even able to pierce thick skin of a hippo. Leech has 32 brains. Due to similarity with the nervous system of humans, leeches are often used in the investigations of brain disorders. Majority of leeches eat blood. Certain species of leeches consume decaying plant material or various worms and insects. Blood-eating leeches use their suckers to attach to the skin of various animals. They eat blood of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish. Leeches have huge appetite. They can ingest amount of blood that is five times bigger than their own weight. Once they are full, leeches will detach from the victim. Since they are able to eat a lot in a single meal, leeches can survive without food period of one year. Although leech pierces skin and sucks a huge amount of blood, process is not painful at all. Leech produces anesthetic which reduces the pain and allows undisturbed extraction of blood. Also, leech releases anticoagulant, called hirudin, which prevents blood coagulation. Both anticoagulant and anesthetic produced by leech are used in medicine for the production of drugs. Leeches are used for bloodletting in medicine. This method is very old, dating back from 1000 years B.C. Leeches have several natural predators: large mouth brass, larvae of a dragonfly, catfish… Leeches are hermaphrodites which mean they have both male and female reproductive organs. Leeches are able for self-reproductions (they do not require partner for reproduction). They produce large number of eggs and lay them either in a cocoon or store them in their own body. Leeches are incredible animals. They can survive loss of 9/10 of their body weight and exposure to heavy chemicals. Different species of leeches have different lifespan. Some leeches can survive up to 10 years.
  5. Only you would post a pic of a carp chasing a bird. You really do find beauty in the lowly carp don't ya? I guess no matter how ugly and worthless a critter is there truly should be somebody that loves them. That's what keeps the world spinning. Everybody should pick a critter that most folks despise and just love that thing with all their heart. I'll take Possums and Leeches. Who is gonna fawn over the Ticks and Chiggers ? Armadillos? Rats? (remember Ben?) Horsefly's? Anybody got a cool Leech pic I can use for a screen saver? Once I get work caught up again I'm going to start posting Leech and possum crap on here everyday for all of you to enjoy. 😉
  6. My grandpa was big into Limb Lines for cats, and he always made a big deal about how many more fish, and bigger fish he caught on limb lines than the trotliners caught by stringing their hooks clear across the river. On the rare occasion that he sat a trotline he'd always set it more parallel to the bank vs. straight out into the middle like most. I think that a fish looking to eat something just naturally goes towards the bank or shoreline cover. There's just more food there.
  7. Paddling upstream is a pain sometimes, but I'm telling ya, there's something to approaching fish from the downstream side. None of my best days have been on shuttled floats.
  8. I have noticed that sometimes a phone will indicate that it has a decent service connection (on your little Evil Knievel ramp up top) .....until you actually try to call someone, then BOOM, you ain't got squat!
  9. Do Asian's have taste buds that are different from ours? WTF don't they eat fish that are actually good to eat? What do they have against salmon, cod, crappie, white bass, or any other fish commonly considered delicious? It's just like these ding-a-lings that pay a weeks wage for a plate of eel. Ya oughta just feed them a frikkin water snake and throw a party with their money.
  10. I followed the proceedings of that Paddlefish case until the end. It started off being 2 foreign guys and a dude from Lake Ozark. Charges were dropped against both foriegn guys during the second court date, then there were 6 continuances and finally almost 2 years later the charge on the LO guy was dropped to a misdemeanor, he pled guilty and payed a fine that if I remember right was under 400.00 Seemed like a rediculous amount of crap to go thru just to get 400.00 out of a guy. I'm sure a lawyer made some coin on it, but just think of the potential amount of taxpayers money wasted in the process of that. Federal agents, Detectives/Investigators, MDC agents, Prosecutor, Judge, Balif, Court recorder, Filing agent, The vehicles they drive and the fuel they burned up, ect. They all have to get paid. So the Feds and the State spent probably 30k+ on that sting.... and 2 years later got paid 400 bucks. I don't know whether to laugh or cry 😂. This is the payoff for funding this brilliant Paddlefish BS that some of ya love so much. In the meantime, how much faith do y'all have that a few MDC higher-ups aren't providing Spoonbill eggs to someone for cash ? Think that sting will ever happen? The conspiratorial side of me suspects that might be the real reason why some are so diligent about "providing Paddlefish for Missouri sportsmen". Where's Dablemont? He sure has been quiet lately.
  11. ATT is good anywhere that any of the others are, and often it's still good when the others aren't. Daughter changed to Sprint when she changed college's and I guess it's good around KC but it sucks everywhere else.
  12. Ok good, cuz I find myself extremely easy to agree with.
  13. You got me there. Why a black human over a white background vs. a white human over a darker background though? Either way you choose I guess you are guilty of racism. So I'll just admit to being racist and question why racism is deemed a "bad thing".
  14. Never bring it up, but have been known to respond to it.
  15. All of the work I'm getting now is quick easy stuff. So I built a little jet boat to play in, and I check in on you freaks about 8-10 times a day. I'd appreciate it if you'd put up with me just a little longer until the fish start biting better around here.
  16. A black man with no weiner ? Nah, no threat to speak of there I don't think.
  17. No kidding. I think otters are taking the blame unjustifiably. I see 100x more Herons/cranes than I do otters, and 50x more snapping turtles and water snakes, but nobody ever mentions them having an effect on smaller body's of water. It's always "the darn otters" of which we seldom if ever see.
  18. When you're not hooking fish on crankbait bites you need to upsize the crankbait, or at least upsize the hooks. The fish are likely engulfing the whole thing and closing its lips around it, so when you jerk on it all you're doing is wedging the lip of the crank against the inside of the fishes jaw. You're not putting any pressure on the hook points. So as soon as the fish opens its mouth again....your crankbait swims free.
  19. On what date did Nelson Mandella really die? Ding-ding-ding--ding-ding-Ding-Ding... let's see if you and I are even living in the same dimension. 😉
  20. I never accused YOU of being a Fisheries Type.....Just a dipshit. 😋 You do know that I'm having fun here, right? Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
  21. Why not just feed them seed ticks? Oops, sorry, I meant Parasiticus Muthafukus.
  22. What!? You're not a Bruce Lee fan ?
  23. Prove it! 😎
  24. Your standard defense of obviously ignorant crap, that always boils down to "You are just to stupid to understand"... is just.... I fart in your general direction.
  25. Ok you sold me on it. But will you at least agree with me that the Spoonbill thing is friggin' stupid ? You're a better debater online than you are in person.
