  1. It would suck to be right in the middle of repairing your hoist....and here comes Miller Time.
  2. As soon as you said "she" your credibility went right out the window. What is it with you and Oneshot? How do y'all keep finding these damsels in need of fishing lessons? Starting to piss me off! 😎
  3. There really needs to be a discriptive word for people that complain about what others are complaining about. The second hand bitching is what always sends a thread to the assylum.
  4. What would the end cost be? No Special Deals, you gotta make it worth your time.
  5. To be honest I think you have to live real close and hit it routinely to know when it's right. I've been out there a half dozen times when the water was running at various levels and I've never hit it right. The dead water stretch between the spillway and the outlet is a gar, carp, drum hole for the most part.
  6. I know several good dock/hoist businesses but they all are swamped and aren't going to get to you for awhile.
  7. Yeah I don't always wanna wait 5 days to get stuff, and they are the only decent bass shop around the lake. You don't have to get me down and rub my tummy to sell me tackle, but a friendlier atmosphere would sure make the visit more enjoyable.
  8. They have a well stocked shop, but that is without a doubt the most un-friendliest bunch of peckerwoods I've ever seen run a tackle store. Who do you have to be in order to get a smile or some conversation out of those guys? Was in there a few weeks ago and dropped 80 bucks on jigs and spinnerbaits, tried to cut up a bit with the guy....and he looked at me like I had a booger hanging out of my nose. They are always like that. All 3 of them. And I've spent some pretty substantial coin in there over the last few years. I can't decide if they are aloof....or just retards.
  9. I have the hooks you need for those. Don't let anybody convince you that Chemically Sharpened, Extreme Tempered, High Performance hooks are manditory. I put plain old Mustad #1 trebles on mine and sharpen them myself. If the spoon won't shake off I can bend them straight with 17-20# flouro. As long as the spoon itself doesn't get lodged under a big rock I can get it back. I never realized how much old fishing line was down there until I started playing with those flutter spoons.....Good Grief! Wads and Wads of line EVERYWHERE. I'm leery of diving off docks now, that's for sure.
  10. After witnessing how fiesty those creek bass were yesterday, and how gawdawfal hot that water felt, I'm convinced that it isn't the heat that moves fish to deeper water. Granted the creek fish have no choice (but actually they do, it isn't that far of a swim). The water everywhere felt in excess of 90° and those fish were not stressed or lethargic at all. Made me wonder why lake fish seem to be such pussies about hot weather.
  11. I couldn't care less what music anyone prefers, as long as I'm not forced to listen to it with them. It ain't just because they are "kids". I would be just as disgusted if a group of old farts pulled up and started cranking Sinatra and Dean Martin tunes.
  12. There was a dude up the Niangua (quite a ways below Tunnel dam) that caught some giant meanmouth's a few years ago, he used to post here but I think he sold his place and moved out of the area. I catch a few in the lower part of the creek, below the smallie water. Surprisingly we saw no spotted bass at all today. All LM and SM. Lots of beaver sign, no sign of any otters.
  13. My daughter and I were on the Gravois today, in a spot that I bet you've never seen. 😀 Welcome to the headwaters.... Seriously good times ! 👍😋
  14. Me too! I can't understand why there are so few out there. Perfect medium sized river craft. I actually thought about buying an old untitled 1642, taking a sawzall to it and turning it into a paddle Jon. Seat placement is the issue that kept me from doing it.
  15. Eventually the valve or pump will need service, and at that time you can rectify what's actually causing the slow drain. Adding even more plumbing in order to band-aid a problem doesn't feel like a good thing to do. Probably a bunch of crud built up in the fill/drain valve, and at some point the valve will fail and need to be replaced.....and the slow drain problem will be solved.
  16. It's been several years since I have either. Little flat spots along the bank at 12-18' are really the only places where I consistently find "schools" of keeper bass. Points are pretty much worthless to me unless they happen to have a flat spot somewhere on them at the right depth. The fact that it is "on a point" is totally irrelevant.
  17. Absolutely, IF you can fish those areas well. It's a waste of time even trying if you have 2+ft. wakes trying to slam you into the docks and you're fighting the trolling motor excessively just to hold your position. When it becomes more like work and less like fun it is time to find calmer water.
  18. I'd say there is a good percentage here that feel the same way, they just prefer to appear differently so they'll never say it out loud. I'm not afraid to agree with him (to a degree). There are a few kids that I'd like to see enjoy fishing, but there are way more that I'd personally prefer to not ever see at all because they've never been taught any of the following traits... Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. Everyone has been programmed to only say that "children are a wonderful gift and we cherish them all equally". Nobody can openly admit that they know kids whose mere presence makes them cringe. Nobody wants to invite the Nellie Olson's and Scott Farcas's on a fishing trip, but they SAY they do because they think they have to. IMO the very first word in that list of desirable traits gets thrown right out the window as soon as you start pretending to feel differently than you truly do.
  19. 👍😀 Enjoy it.
  20. You're an azzhole. If YOU ever sell it I want first shot.
  21. Moguy, As for docks this time of the year you will either find the bass suspended under the shade of them, or down near the bottom in the shade of them. Brush isn't always required but on some days it is. If you catch a few suspended and choose to just run that pattern then fish the biggest docks in the area, and the first and last dock in a row of docks. A big worm with a light (1/8-3/16) unpegged weight on heavy (20#) line is a good way to catch them. Just toss it right alongside the dock or up into the wells and let it fall about 12 ft. on a semi-slack line, pay close attention and set the hook anytime something just doesn't seem right. I'm all fired up about this "spoon jackin'" thing that James Watson does....but so far I can't make it work better than the big slow falling worm when they are just hanging suspended under the docks. If they are on the bottom it's hard to beat a 3/4 jig to cover a bunch of water fast. If your first few bites happen over clean bottom just stay with the jig, or you can start playing with Shakey heads, drop shots, and all manner of stupidity, but if you start getting bites in brush then try a 5/16-3/8 Texas rigged worm. If the worm bite isn't making you happy then try a swim jig or slow roll a spinnerbait over the brushpiles cuz sometimes (more times than not actually) they want something just bumping into and swimming over the pile instead of slowly crawling around in the middle of it.
  22. All of my "constructed cover" is way above the thermocline. 😀 If you wanna locate some deep brush just throw one of those five-dollar 3/4oz. jigs and you can pinpoint brushpiles until your poor as a church mouse.
  23. I agree that kids need a hobby, or a passion for something besides Snapchat and video games. There's Golf, Volleyball, Badminton, Frisbee Skateboarding, Mountain biking, ect. Fishing isn't for everyone, thank Dog.
  24. I have a friend that fishes the upper end of the Glaize a couple times a week, and according to him the boat traffic/wakes aren't bad until you get below Anderson hollow. He has been catching some decent LM on swim jigs and worms, and getting into some Whites on spoons and jigs in the evenings. I wouldn't mind hitting the extreme upper Glaize with buzzbaits and frogs right now, while the lake is still 659+, just for kicks.
  25. Good point. Lots of crap being done in a substandard fashion, and too many people that are just ok with that. I feel like if I conducted my business like that I'd be livin' in a van down by the river.
