One of my partner's has a couple. As of yet he hasn't whooped up on me with them. There are too many places he is afraid to throw it.

Kinda funny that it begins like this..... JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE First Regular Session, 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY __________________________ FIFTH DAY, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2017 The House met pursuant to adjournment. Speaker Pro Tem Haahr in the Chair. Prayer by Reverend Monsignor Robert A. Kurwicki, Chaplain. God be merciful unto us and bless us; and cause His face to shine upon us. (Psalm 67:1) O God, who is the bright sun of the universe sending Your light on all Your creation, shine upon our hearts and minds as we pray this moment, driving away the darkness of evil and enabling us to walk without stumbling, to live without complicating our lives or the lives of others, and to serve our citizens without fear and with fidelity. Consecrate with Your presence the way our feet may walk, the way our minds may think, and the way our hearts may feel, that our work may be well done and our lives be filled with the glory of Your spirit. Bless our State with the grace of Your favor, our leaders with the greatness of Your wisdom, and our people with the goodness of Your love. And the House says, “Amen!”

Woah! The tilt ram even broke? I see no signs of impact, so WTH caused that? The only thing I can think of is that you hit a big bump while trailering and it shook the motor hard enough to partially snap the mount. I can see that the motor was mounted on the 3rd hole down, higher on the jackplate than it should have been. No reason to do that unless the jackplate wouldn't raise it high enough ! And judging by the position of the jackplate I'd say that's exactly why. Poor choice of jackplate if so.

Nice one! ? Did you get into any Whites?

You have to do some work to get a boat ordered without a Mercury on it too. ?
-
True that. If I shortened one I'd make it to where it tripped as soon as you were far enough out of the seat to not have a hand on the steering wheel. Heck, the lanyard on most boats will allow you to walk halfway to the front deck. I'm not a big fan of hotfoots either, they can be a good thing or a bad thing. 2 hands on the wheel is good, but constantly fluctuating throttle position is bad. A water bottle rolling around on the floor, or any other clutter is bad, and I see alot of messy boats with Hotfoot throttles. That particular area under the console seems to be a magnet for anything laying loose in a boat.
-
Me either, but I don't wanna set myself up to be sued by altering one. I know one guy whose foot slipped off the Hotfoot while making a sharp turn. The sudden loss of power almost flipped the boat and he busted his face open. If something like that happened and it was ME whose bright idea caused it by altering a lanyard....I could be in big trouble.

Ya know what I think I'm going to start doing? Shortening kill switch lanyards. They are made long enough so that a guy can stand up and take his PFD off while still keeping it connected. But by the time your body is far enough out of the seat to pop the kill switch you are already out of the boat. I'm a bit concerned about the liability of altering the lanyards but it sure seems better to kill the engine sooner than that. Thoughts?

I haven't been to the park myself but talked to a guy that had. He didn't mention any dredging changes but I think they only fished in zones 2-3. They caught several nice ones.

An incident just like that is what slowed me down. My steering didn't fail though, I was testing props and on the last run with the prop that I had determined to be the best one I came blistering down the lake, cut the throttle and began trimming down so I could turn into the cove where I launched from and the boat (360 Ranger) bow hooked and went 90° in a micro-second. One second you're dry and happy, and the next second you're wet and confused.....Or worse.

From what the article said "the nut that attaches the hydraulic cylinder came loose". THE NUT? SINGULAR? They don't know WTF they are talking about. Thankfully there's no "one nut" that holds it all together, unless the boat was rigged by monkeys.
-
Someone recently PM'd me about a stiff Seastar unit. Here was my reply: Hi Dave, My past attempts at "fixing" hydraulic steering systems haven't been satisfactory, so I don't even try anymore. My recommendation is to replace the whole unit. The manufacturer doesn't offer up any service info, and your steering is way too important to play trial and error games with. Hydraulic steering is sure nice, but something about being connected to the motor ONLY by some trapped fluid just makes me nervous.

Oh yeah! Buy a pleasure toon and she'll be out there on hands and knees helping you clean it. Rig a fishing toon and you'll hear her say things like... "oh he's out there messing with that STUPID BOAT". I know all about women's relationships with boats. The only reason that dual console bass boats are so popular is because guys have to sell them to their wives before they can buy them. Do you really think a guy cares how comfortable and safe his guy friends feel while out fishing? Pfffft! He'd much rather have that extra space in his boat, but the lil'woman would have never gone for that, even though she may only ride in it once or twice per year. ☺ Even women that truly love fishing.... They want that stupid console.

Back when I used to do "service calls" I did it alot. Some are still good after 10+ years, others the holes filled in but the rock piles are still there. A pair of rock piles under a walkway is better than any brushpile could ever hope to be. And a rock pile under a cable is almost as good. The thing about rock piles is they are bass specific. Crappie won't move in on them and dominate that type cover during any time of the year. Add brush though....and then you have crappie hogging the space for 1/2 the Spring. Bass will always hang around a rock pile for awhile because crawdads like them alot.

Speaking of "that gal"....... Surprised that nobody has said it yet, but um yeah! Umm hmmm.

Trailer hub grease fitting clogged
fishinwrench replied to PAT92B's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Peck on it lightly with a hammer to dislodge the stuck ball, and if that doesn't work then zerk fittings are cheap. Usually 5/16 or 8mm wrench/socket and just replace it. -
So day 1 and 3 @ Pa he Tsi. Day 2 and 4 @ Coffman. Day 5 @ Roach ?
-
Ahh, that would explain it.
-
Not to add to the confusion....But the very first day they fished here they took out of Coffman access on the Gravois.

Everything I do nowadays is done in shallow water, and I do it when the lake is way down in the Winter. I'll get behind the docks and make it look like the surface of the moon. Rock piles and holes. I don't bother with brush because it never stays put, but if there's a big log nearby I'll utilize it in my little landscape projects.
-
So it's still legal to throw a rock, or a stick. But now there are gonna be regulations on how big the Rock and stick can be ? That's funny. I wish them luck with that. ?
-
What are the new restrictions on brush? I must have missed that.

What I think is hilarious is that Ameren, who when they goofed and overly flooded the lake twice last year, said, "We don't operate in consideration of Weather Forecasts", hauled in 300 guys and 70 trucks from Texas and housed them all in area motels. I bet the poker games were a blast! ?

For me the trouble with deep water structure fishing on LO is that almost everything below 10-12' is blanketed in a 2 foot layer of silty goo. The little drop offs and ditches shown on topo maps are all smoothed over (buried in silt) like a 10" blanket of snow smoothes over the landscape in your yard. Exposed rocks and long standing wood cover like stumps and such are pretty rare except in certain areas that remain clean on the bottom either because of current or heavy boat traffic turbulence. Very few of those "key areas" Marcus is gonna school you on are worth your time unless you or someone else has planted enough cover on them. Fishing your planted brushpiles IMO is akin to hunting baited deer. For some weird reason I can't explain I get more gratification by finding and catching fish from a piece of cover that either occured naturally or was planted by someone else than I do by fishing cover that I planted myself. But if winning tournaments fishing deeper water was the main reason why I loved to fish then you can bet I'd be a brush hauling fool.
