  1. It's only complicated if you allow it to be.
  2. So the predators and scavengers eat them raw, brains and all, and they survive. I'm betting that sickness from a thousand tick bites every year are a worse threat to deer than CWD ever will be. Just go ahead and admit it......The MDC is pissing away time and money on BS propaganda projects for selfish reasons, while basically ignoring way more important and useful things. They are just trying to keep themselves busy doing things that don't require any proof of actual accomplishment. They are milking geese.
  3. Nah, if it's black then there is still some fuel left that can be burnt. Right down to white ash. What the heck are we even talking about? ?
  4. Red, orange, or white, depending on the temperature of it. ?
  5. The cool thing about throttles is that they offer control over the speed and you only have to run as fast as you are comfortable running. Slow down ! I've never caught a fish at 60 mph. I prefer to ease along at about 3000 rpm, sip coffee and nibble on a doughnut. I've outgrown white knuckle boat rides, especially in Winter.
  6. Is it not obvious that they prefer we do not understand it ?
  7. Only briefly. Hopefully that polar blast is over and we'll only get one more like it this season. A big pot of chili, homemade apple pie, and a 5th of Devil's Cut got me through that one without any problems. I had no intention of going fishing in it.
  8. Stability IN a boat, and stability OF A boat are both elements in their own right. You can be perfectly stable in a 32-36" wide Jon boat if your feet are below the surface of the waterline. But as you elevate yourself above the water line (such as on a bassboat deck) then you need extra stability (width) in the hull to make up for that.
  9. Overpopulation of any animal (humans included) invites disease, they have known that for over a decade. There is what I would call a definite deer population issue in the area where I live so if they end up with a disease I wouldn't be surprised at all. I hate to admit it but I actually hope they do because they have become a nuisance and a hazard, and I'd like to see 80% of them gone.
  10. Well does cooking and eating the meat of an infected deer pose a risk ? Surely they at least know that by now.
  11. Well I'm 53 and I hate the cold (which I consider anything below 40) and I don't do enough fishing when it is below 30° to justify buying special clothes for it. If I do then it's trout fishing down in a holler where the wind isn't bad, and some cheap fleece and wool under the waders keeps me comfortable enough down to the low 20's. I have spent some time standing dead still in a deer stand in 6° temps and I don't care what you wear, you are gonna freeze your butt off.
  12. You guys sound like you are preparing for a trip to Antarctica. Missouri cold weather is 25°-40° Just dress the same way you have been since you were a kid out playing in the snow. If you get miserably cold it's because you aren't catching any fish (or whatever) so it's time to go home.
  13. No, I'm just wondering why, if there is a potentially unhealthy disease being passed around, then why not "be proactive" and get the herd thinned out ASAP ? By spotlight or whatever means. Because of all the past projects the MDC has given themselves, it makes me wonder if the whole CWD thing isn't just their way of justifying regulations on deer farming.
  14. I see alot of deer that appear healthy but there is obviously something wrong with them. They are either deaf, dumb, or blind. Maybe just overly tame, but they are annoying and they need to be thinned out.
  15. Seems to me that if there was a genuine concern about diseased deer then the logical thing to do is to thin the herd substantially. Yet they'll arrest ya pronto for killing an extra untagged deer. They make no sense to me. The MDC has become too much of a business IMO. Greed rules.
  16. That is rediculis. Until an animal is dead on the ground no crime has been committed. So a man with a pistol on his hip can't have a flashlight in his hand ? That's like saying you can't have a gun and a bottle of beer in the same house.
  17. Once they spend all this time/money learning where some deer infected with CWD are.....What are they going to do about it ? Surely there is a plan in the works, but I can't imagine anything other than killing off nearly every deer in the state, and I can't imagine them going that route.
  18. I can't imagine an agent around here sitting in the dark listening for shots. They might set up a decoy in a field and watch it, but running towards the sound of gunfire in the distance ? I doubt it.
  19. What are the odds that a MDC agent is gonna be watching your farm at the time that you dispatch a coyote ? The fine is probably less than the cost of a cow, so do what you need to do. We all prefer to stay on the right side of the rules but sometimes the rules don't fit the situation. If God will forgive you for ANYTHING but a judge won't forgive you for stopping a destructive animal on your own property then somebody needs to drag the judge to church.....Or take the bible out of the courtroom.
  20. Why is it OK to spotlight fish ?
  21. That's an awesome pic. Good job!
  22. My dad used to work with an ol'boy that wore bib overalls all the time, and the reason he did was because he had no butt and was hung like a mule, he couldn't wear pants. Of course his name was Dick. His wife was a spunky little bow-legged gal with no teeth, and that couple was fuel for some of the funniest jokes and original one-liners when I was growing up. Of course the fact that they were both Polish made it even better. They never had any kids and everyone assumed it was because Dick knocked the bottom out of her. Something tells me this thread is gonna get gone shortly. ?
  23. The Deplorables ? ?
  24. Excellent reply. Thanks for the no BS response. I agree. I respect you, bro.
  25. Well that's no fun. Let's discuss the workings of it. I guess it takes a certain kind of relationship, because knowing that my wife was in the other room (or God forbid in the SAME room) throwing down with somebody else's pickle would give me a severe case of erectile disfunction, no matter how smokin' hot his trade was. I can almost guarantee a fight. For a church going man such as yourself how do you side-step something like that? I'm curious how the Christian mind works. Just talking as friends here.... so don't get offended. I'm certainly not judging anyone. I still like you the same regardless, I've just always wondered how couples get along in relationships like that. Seems it would be a sure fire recipe for eventual divorce. Apparently you don't mind speaking openly about it.....Or you wouldn't have mentioned it in the first place. ?
