  1. So......buy a brand of boat that isn't being given away all the time. Ranger, Nitro, Bass Cat are the ones always being special opted. Although two of those are the same corporation now, and no other boat I know of gets demo'ed as often as Bass Cat. I don't know of a single BC boat that was bought straight out, they always get specialed out to some wanna be pro. The world could use a decent bass boat company that doesn't play "pro team" crap. I'd buy it.
  2. I gotta ask..... At what weight does it not matter whether the head is football shaped or not ? The way I see it anything below 1/2oz. probably fails to produce the desired effect. I'm on the fence at 3/8. 1/4oz. and lighter heads could be round, square, or shaped like a pickle, I'm not convinced that it matters.
  3. She looks really surprised. What did you do !?
  4. Oh bass boats are highly attractive to women. If you ever have a nice bass boat and go through a divorce you'll see. They care more about that boat than just about anything.
  5. Well that's good because you sure couldn't see any of the fly tying.
  6. Yeah !!!!! It was like the first video I ever did, so gimme a break.
  7. Over the years I have acquired some pretty cool tying skills, but almost all of it is wasted. The patterns that catch 99% of my fish are so stupid easy that a drunken blind person could tie them.
  8. Yeah that jumped out at me, sounds like something a biologist would say. But still I wanna hear Ron's reply so I'll know if Whiting's are what flip my Humpy's upside down.
  9. What makes Metz best ?
  10. The water cleared up, they dropped the lake a foot, and they (bass) are gone from there now. I had fun while it lasted. If they show up there again in the future, which I'm sure they will, I'll try more of these suggestions. Thanks.
  11. Nope, nothing new and exciting about lower units since the 1980's
  12. That gearcase is no different from the previous year(s) models. For 2700.00+/- I could have met you with one and installed it. Jus'sayin. Interested in a spare to carry now ?
  13. OK so you were depending on warranty service then. I knew there was a catch there somewhere, cuz I can guarantee that in May of 06 there was no shortage of V6 Merc lower units in Missouri and if you could have worked out PAYMENT you could have had one installed within 10 hours.
  14. Well why didn't ya ? The nearest Merc dealer would have sold you a fresh lower, lickety-split.
  15. If they don't eat that they're stupid.
  16. OK I'm with ya, Dave.... Bet ya a bucketful of Ned rigs that they won't be stocking any V6 driveshafts...., but they WILL sell you a complete lower unit today. If getting back on the water now AT ANY COST is the goal..... Hell that's no problem.
  17. Oh good grief Now I'm an asshole, what's new? I just wanted to let folks know that promises of same day service was not to be taken literally. I wish all my brothers in the Marine biz AND ALL MY FISHING BUDDYS the best.
  18. Probably need a bigger boat ! The guys I know with really big boats never have that limitation.
  19. That's why you can't pick up any chicks.....You need a boat !
  20. Hell yeah ! Good job, warrior.
  21. Ham, you mentioned the great Y2K bug and I had to go see if this old vid was still out there. Corny ol' peckerwood!
  22. Cheesemaster, I'm sure every repair center WANTS that. In the end it is best to avoid rushing work out though. Surely you agree. Not all repairs are quickie parts swaps, sometimes it takes a little research and some time to think before a situation is fully understood and can be properly rectified. That piece of certification" paper techs have hanging on the wall only means that they held a chair down somewhere for awhile.
  23. I love to pick on Mercury this way. Merc is without a doubt the fastest outboard, and they also strive to be the quickest to get stuff on the market....They always gotta be FIRST. To them it is worth it to operate like that, and apparently all thier faithful followers don't mind. But I do !
  24. OK here's the deal: Mercury has a long standing habit of pumping out components and allowing the failures to dictate needed upgrades to said components as time goes on. This is hard to explain to someone not in the business of buying parts from them but I'll give just one example.... A stator (example) for a 40amp V6 has about 13 different part numbers. The ORIGINAL # and then numerous SUPERCEDED numbers of UPGRADED stators for that application. Any of them will work (for awhile) BUT only the latest is worth the 700.00+ that you're gonna pay for it. So stockpiling Mercury parts is not good business. Sorry. I won't even go into ECM modules and fuel pumps where we are talking Thousands of $, and the many sensors and regulators (voltage AND fuel/air pressure). All have been, and will continue to be SUPERCEDED and improved upon as time goes on. If you are selling your customers 6 month old parts you may very well not be doing the best quality work possible. Make sense ?
  25. The SS bite is on in full force. This is the Ned rig of Lake O right here...
