  1. I beg your pardon! Mine WAS a bass, several to be exact. Here's one of them Disclaimer: this was not from this mornings trip, it was a couple days ago. You just don't know how to read old school stuff.
  2. A customer of mine goes every February, he's never mentioned having any problems. They didn't do all that great this last time though.
  3. Oh God, do I dare tell him that I don't use GPS ? Here ya go...
  4. Those aren't bass, ya goofball.
  5. You might be right. I scored my possession limit back in March though, and C&R crappie fishing just doesn't do anything for me. I'll need to have a fish fry before I do any more slab chasin'.
  6. Can't offer any insight on the little tubes cuz I don't use them, but I spoke with a couple guys that were out spider rigging this morning and they were having some steady action over a creek channel in 25ish feet. It looked to me like they were only set down about 15' though so I assume the slabs were suspended. They were sure making alot of trips to the livewell. I've never done worth a crap at hot weather crappie fishing, and if they typically go out and suspend like that then I understand why.
  7. Here's some porn for ya...
  8. You only get to count the first 4 hours If it was APRIL you'd have to beat 18-20#
  9. OK, you win the debate. I still have you beat by 12.7 though, better get busy.
  10. Fishing toys are fun, no doubt about that. I just hate seeing people get it in their head that they need a 30k+ dollar boat loaded with all the latest electronics in order to be moderately successful. That just ain't so, and 5bites is gonna loose his cool when I say this, but.... All the guys I know that are all into this sonar crap in a big way can't ever fish worth a hoot. I guess they think learning the sonar ins/outs is gonna fix that, but so far it isn't working.
  11. A dude almost swamped you, but what REALLY sucked was that he had bottled beer. Classic! Nice fish man.
  12. Sounds like the 23p 3-blade is the tits. Those aren't the most durable powerheads by a long shot, I wouldn't push it.
  13. Looks like one of those six-pack turtles.
  14. 12.7 in 4 hours is pretty respectable I think, I actually lost one that would have put me close to 14 Haven't fished Grand since the mid 90's but I think it fishes on par with LO. I'd be dang proud of 10lbs/3fish.
  15. Never said it didn't work, just said it wasn't a vital piece of gear. I've applied myself towards it plenty, been at this whole fishing thing quite awhile. So are you gonna go out and rustle up a fat sack of them or not ? I had 12.7 lbs. this morning (best 5)
  16. Just curious, why do you think you need a 4 blade ? That Mariner Mag has enough holeshot problems (lack of low end torque) as it is. What boat are you pushing?
  17. 5bites, How about you show us how effective you are at stroking all these pigs ? It's late July, no better time than now for a tutorial from you on offshore bassin success via electronics. So go out there and put it on'em and post us a report. In the meantime I'll keep track of how many I catch that are 2lbs plus, and the number of hours it took me to catch them. "Narrow mindedness"
  18. OK, well I feel sorry for you that your fishing prowess is so dependant on a flakey piece of cheesy electronics, but if you're content with it then that's all that matters. JFTR most all tournaments across the country are won in 10' or less.
  19. What I'm saying is that if you spent as much time FISHING as you do "learning to use your new-age toy" you would have probably caught just as many, if not more fish. Bigger ones too. You may be catching more numbers of fish but I bet you ain't catching any more keepers. Who cares if you didn't know there was a school of dinks offshore before you upgraded your sonar ? Plenty of my customers have done the necessary homework on their devices, they are good fishermen..... But they still aren't winning any more money on T-day than they ever did. That's all I'm trying to say. You're out there finding all these new places to fish, but you haven't learned the best way to fish your OLD places yet.
  20. I install alot of upgraded electronics on my customers boats and there is one undeniable factor that is noticable..... After the upgrade there are no more fish being caught than there was before. I think you guys are all caught up in this new-tech sonar for the wrong reason. It may be fun to tinker with but it isn't necessary for fishing success. Tournament weights aren't any bigger now than they were back in the days of flashers.
  21. Hey, MDC has awesome biologists and this is what they say is best. They know better than anyone... so just roll with it y'all.
  22. Nice! What end of the lake were you on ? I got the LM to bite on the Gravois tonite. 15-17' on a 3/4oz. jig.
  23. Some people just have fish-mojo. Back in my bass club days there was an old dude that had never fished in his life (he was actually here via a witness protection program from California). He would just sit in the back of the boat, sip beer and cast around willy-nilly with whatever bait looked good to him that day... AND CATCH FISH LIKE CRAZY 90% of the time.
  24. The rough water and traffic at the mouth of the Gravi is ridiculous. There's alot of stuff I want to fish around there but I can't get out early enough to be able to fish it.
  25. Not bad, Trapshot25. The bites on the initial fall are happening alot for us too. We graphed a little nothing-looking point yesterday and it had fish all over it (otherwise we probably would have never even bothered fishing it), I caught a 5 and my partner caught a 3 then I lost another nice one. There was no cover anywhere close and the bottom felt smooth and featureless so I'm not sure why they were there but I'm assuming there was a decent sized school of bass hanging around there.
