  1. Careful there, Sparky. It was probably filmed in Ar.
  2. Transition periods are typically tough on reservoirs, even though it feels like a whole new season to YOU it takes awhile for any noticeable changes in "the bite". That upper layer of warm water serves as a very effective buffer even during a drastic cold rainy period. We haven't seen anything close to a "Norther" blow in yet.
  3. What was that old show where the elite Chinese/Japanese/whatever paid astronomical sums of money to bash a live monkeys head in and gobble up the warm quivering brains ? WTF is wrong with people ??? Sex with animals is illegal as hell, and rightfully so, but bashing their head in and devouring their raw organs is fine, and actually considered "a privelidge of the elite". Wow ! No explaining that mentality to me.
  4. Minnesota's fishing is awesome. Out of 9 days (3 different trips) that I have spent there I've never had a single "so-so" day, much less a bad one. I did allow myself to get caught in a bad storm on BigBoy lake once and darn near got killed, but even on that day the fishing was off the charts. If it weren't for those gawd-awful Winters I could be happy living/ working there.
  5. Where do ya think his boys learned it ?
  6. I'm surprised that you haven't mastered skipping with a BC, Al. Not that you "should", but considering your preference for casting gear I'd expect you to have that down solid by now.
  7. Yeah I know a couple that finds them everywhere they go, they really have an eye for it. I myself have only came across 3 in my life, and one of those was questionable as in it may just be a freak of nature/not shaped by hand. I know there are people who arrowhead hunt as a hobby and many of them have bushel baskets full of them. Some are smaller than a dime and I've seen them on display called "bird points". Seriously ? GTFOH! I feel safe in assuming those were made as tokens or for jewelry.....NOT for shooting birds.
  8. So, all those heads being found are probably not authentic then, cuz we have more flint knapers (with too much time on their hands) than we ever had Indians, and they are skipping across the land sprinkling their replica's everywhere.
  9. I think he/she is probably comfortable with the clarity.
  10. Ya know, the amount of arrowheads that continue to be found (literally EVERYWHERE) just totally astounds me. Did the idiots just run around throwing handfull after handfull of the dam things around like rice at a wedding ? You'd think as much effort as it takes to make one that they would have been a little more conservative with them.
  11. Yep. But the ones around Clarence Cannon dam are twice the size !
  12. Skip the campfire ???!! If I am pitching a tent I am having a fire. Setting by the fire at night gets me ready to crash, and a smoldering pile of coals keeps the boogieman away until I wake up. Then I just have to throw some sticks on the coals in the morning to make coffee. A camp without a fire just ain't proper.
  13. Someone has been rooting around in the river here, for sure. http://goo.gl/maps/ZQlRd They can legally do it though, which surprises and disappoints me. The owners of Redbeard's once took a dozer and destroyed a really nice run that borders the Barclay stretch, removing midstream boulders and such to make for a launch/landing. I brought it to the attention of MDC and really thought heads were gonna roll. Nope.
  14. Yeah I hope so too. I fished a different river yesterday and met two of the coolest folks ever (both landowners of separate pieces of land). One even offered to help with a shuttle anytime they were home and not overly preoccupied.
  15. Looks delicious. Way to do it up right!
  16. That one is going on the wall.
  17. Absolutely ! I like having company sometimes but there are a lot of things you will notice when you are by yourself. My level of concentration is amplified x10 when I am solo and I know for a fact that I fish better because I am completely engaged in it. I have a retired neighbor that periodically gets mildly offended if he notices me pulling out solo with the canoe, Jon, or bassboat loaded. Fishing CAN be a team sport, but it certainly doesn't have to be. My girlfriend always expresses worry when I go on a river trip alone but she doesn't seem at all concerned when I WORK alone. Funny that !
  18. I could use a Winter gig...Job that is. Did I sound like Foghorn leghorn when I said that ?
  19. OK, here's the details..... It happened at a marina. A gentlemen pulled up to the gas dock to fill up the jetski and either took his life jacket off or unhooked the kill switch from his life jacket. The four year old grabbed the handle bars and squeezed the throttle to wide open. The adult went off the back while the jetski accelerated for approximately 50 yards and hit the dock.
  20. I think Jerry was pointing out WHY there aren't more regs on where the rigs can run....or TRY to run. Not necessarily that he condoned it. At least that's the way I perceived it.
  21. They do when its the dead of Winter and a cheap motel is closer to the river than the nearest place to pitch a tent.
  22. Not Hotel, "Motel"! There's a difference ya know.
  23. Bass buggin' for green bass is fun....and close.
  24. I have trashed a few motel rooms. If you knock the hinge pins out of the bathroom door and lay it across the beds it makes a sweet fly tying table. But "streamside/roadside tying"? Noway. I don't wanna play Trout Bum Diary's.
  25. I did notice the ford activity, you can see it on Google earth. Operating a 4-wheeler in a stream bed is an illegal act, matter of fact I believe it is a felony after the 3rd offense, but are trucks/tractors/bulldozers exempt? That doesn't make much sense.
