Seth, try concentrating on the little micro-eddys along the shoreline that are created by roots, rocks, ect.
Hard to beat a Texas rigged 4" tube with a 3/16 weight shoved up its butt.
Get in tight to the bank and fish parallel when you can, keeping your line from laying across the faster water.
The bigger (obvious) eddys are less productive IMO (or too full of carp).
