  1. Y'all and your bobbers.… (pffft) LOL Hell, why not just cast your 3/4" thingamabobber with a UL spinning rig ? I was taught way back in the early 80's how to execute what is (or was) known as a "tension drift", and once I got the hang of it I shitcanned "indicators" for good (except for suspending midges in frog-water). I am really surprised that more guys don't use that method for their nymphing type presentations. It flat out works. You set up your drift and you are basically setting a fish trap. To me it's way more effective and versatile than indicator nymphing....but to each their own I guess. And Justin, 6 flys/hr.? My God man, ya freaking litterbug! You could just go ahead and toss your beer cans in the stream and not trash the waterway as bad.
  2. I took it in on trade, the 50 Merc that was on it got put on a pontoon because the guys wife wears the pants.....so as of right now it is less outboard, but does have a MG 12v trolling motor that goes with it, Hummingbird LCR (that I assume works ok but cant swear to it), a trailer, and canvas trailering cover. It's all in really great condition, just needs a 40-75hp outboard. Beings as it's near the end of my season I probably won't be putting money out for a motor for it until next Spring....but I'd sell it as/is now and you can put a motor on it yourself if you wanna get into it at a bargain. Holler if interested and we can discuss it. 573-372-3304
  3. Oh yeah, those elastic net cords ! You haven't lived until you've been drilled in the back of your skull while walking down a brushy trail. Chuck Tryon warned of it in his first book but I didn't listen. I found out that there's a pressure point about 3/4" below the base of your skull that takes your knees out. Do yourself a favor and get one of those magnetic net thingys, they are the bomb. Plus they come in real handy when you drop flys or fumble your forceps or keys in the stream.
  4. Patrick M, I have a 1994 Tracker TX 175 and trailer for sale....less motor. EG, Tinboats is a great site, I have gotten some great ideas from there. I've done a bunch of specialty jon mods and would be glad to offer up some ideas/tips. What kinda fishing do you do? (Flyfishing or Gear, Crappie, Cat, Temperates) Or do you need it to be a versatile do-it-all kinda rig?
  5. Two things came to mind today and prompted me to resurrect this thread from a year ago.... 1. I am on the lake every day and haven't seen a single zebra mussel on anything all season (Where'd they go? ). 2. Saw a contributor to this thread below Bagnell today... How would you rate that water quality, Jack? Just curious.
  6. What do they call the old dairy farm now, didn't MDC take that over? Used to be HUGE bluegill in there. Ditto with McCreedy outside of Kingdom city.
  7. I fish what is considered to be "fast" rods, and what I gain from lines like Grand and GPX is the ability to shoot further. If shortening you load-up strokes is more desirable to you than being able to pick up a long cast or doing lengthy mends then I believe you'll benefit from Grand/GPX quite a bit. To have the best of both worlds would be to have a heavier line in the air...but a lighter line once it hits the water.
  8. Do I know that Lil'Yammie?
  9. OMG, Have you lost your mind?!!!!! Never ask Chuckles about crap like that unless you've recently been fed and have nothing in mind to do for the rest of the day.
  10. The hillbilly capri's took Chief right over the edge. LMAO!
  11. Pretty. Fish?
  12. Don't leave the Smokies without your Yallerhammers and Tellico's. The flys that scream Ozarks to me are the Crackleback, Mohair leech, and anything Whitlock.
  13. No zoo for me, thanks. I'm petrified of monkeys.
  14. Uhm yeah, how far is that from the corner of Hwy.5 and Twin bays rd. ? LOL Considering the milage I get in the wrenchwagon it'd prolly be cheaper to mail myself there.
  15. I wonder how much longer before someone seeing one isn't front page news anymore. I saw my first one in 92-93 and have seen one other big tan cat and a big black long tailed panther type sucker prior to 99, and now everyone and their dog has seen at least one. They are here, and I think just about everyone is done being excited or freaked out about it. What I wanna see is a gator or an elephant. Maybe a python....now that'd be cool !
  16. Nice job! The vid was cool
  17. Seasonal shift front moving in. Somehow they know before the meteorologist do, and for some reason it shuts them down before anything actually effects them....or so it seems.
  18. Have you ever noticed that gar are everywhere....Until you head out specifically to catch some?
  19. Ever do any chip skippin'?
  20. Looks like a teeny tiny blue cobra taking a poop ?
  21. So.... Flyrodable? Sweet!
  22. Now that's inspiring! Any clue how deep the bites were?
  23. In lieu of trailer hooks I use Zoom split tail trailers on all my spinner/buzzbaits and misses are never an issue. The legendary Tom Mann, along with Ricky Green, did a lengthy experiment years ago (back when spinnerbaits and buzzbaits all had really crappy hooks) and determined that a soft plastic trailer that covered the hook totally cancels out any need for a trailer hook. Seems to work great for me, and has for many years. Newer buzzbait/spinnetbait skirts are built with "trailing strands"....which I cut off before I even get'em wet and glue on the old reliable "white fork". I guess it causes them to eat the hook instead of just head banging the mass of the commotion. I'll add that the straight fork trailers are way better (IMO) than any "action trailer" like curled tail grubs and such.
  24. There's a somewhat similar case beginning here close to home, where a female attorney from KC has recently been arrested in connection with her wealthy father and his g/f's murder here at a lakehouse 2 years ago. If she is guilty of it you know darn well that she covered her tracks quite well, and it'll be a case where heresay may be their only evidence. I'm not even sure what grounds they arrested her on.
